Wasteland: I Awakened A Plant System - Chapter 146: Dead Were Coming Soon

Chapter 146: Dead Were Coming Soon
January 15th, temperature: -50 degrees.
Since the temperature dropped again, the three people in Vikram’s Territory have not gone outside.
Over the past four days, the shelter has become increasingly well-managed.
When he lived alone, he did much of the work himself, such as cleaning the fields and feeding the chickens, and with his plants Sprout fighting the enemies.
Although he wasn’t particularly tired, if there were special circumstances requiring him to go out, he would most likely forget about these things.
Now that there are three more members in the shelter, the most noticeable thing is that there is more free time.
’I finally have time to check out the chat channel that I haven’t paid attention to for a long time. Another advantage is that we no longer have to eat grilled meat every day. Although the shelter’s chef is a bit dull on weekdays, when it comes to cooking, the taste is really not bad.’
Unable to leave the house for the past four days, Vikram, who spends his days glued to the chat channel, has started his retirement life ahead of schedule, much like an old man. (Why he was not working in recruitment, he was waiting for the cold disaster to end.)
Vikram crossed his legs on the single sofa, enjoying the heated backrest, and adjusted the seat into a single bed configuration.
Holding a glass of beverage made with artificial flavorings and colors, he was living a blissful life.
Then he noticed the two people sitting on the sofa with their eyes fixed on the screen.
“What’s going on? It’s so quiet. What happened in the chat channel?” With a puzzled look, he moved closer to the two of them.
Divya shook her head. “It’s not the chat channel, it’s the group chat.”
Someone died.
With a long sigh, Divya was filled with regret.
Even Anjali, who was next to her, curled up on the sofa, still feeling a bit scared.
“Someone died in the group?”
“Who died? Was it someone we knew?”
The survivors in the group are not just the few who frequently communicate with them; there are also many survivors who don’t like to talk and quietly lurk in the background.
He shook his head again. “He’s a middle-aged man. He doesn’t chat much in the group, but he occasionally shares his observations.”
“He was one of the earliest people to join the group chat.”
“According to his shelter members, he was frozen to death.”
Upon hearing this, all three of them involuntarily gasped. They hadn’t reacted much when they noticed the number of people in the bottom right corner of the chat channel decreasing every day.
Only when those around them froze to death did they begin to feel a sense of urgency.
Even with my back against the heated sofa, a chill ran down my spine.
“The population of the wasteland has been halved. I don’t know how many people will be left after the natural disaster ends.”
“Speaking of which, today seems to be the last day of this week of natural disaster.” He said, looking at Vikram with a question in his eyes.
He gave Divya a resolute look in response, “Don’t rush to sleep tonight, let’s wait until the natural disaster begins before making a decision.”
“Mmm.” The two nodded simultaneously.
Vikram, who had just come out of the power distribution room, was originally planning to immediately figure out how to connect the biogas generator.
“Besides this, is there any other news in the group? Has Boss Kashif revealed any exclusive information to us in the group?”
“No, according to him, the last two weeks after the natural disaster should be the drop in temperature.”
Nodding, Vikram thought to himself, “That would be the best way. It would avoid unnecessary trouble and save me a lot of work.”
Although Vikram didn’t tell them, he feared that most other unexpected problems might arise along with these changes.
After his visit to Cameron Town, many things had opened his eyes. He also knew, maybe not today, not tomorrow, but one of these days, humans are going to awaken.
And even if they didn’t awaken, there must be another problem coming soon, the Crimson creature had just left, but for some reason, Vikram felt a strange sense of unease.
He has a feeling that if these Crimson creatures disappear, something else will take their place.
“By the way, have you guys received any messages about Savage Wolf Shelter in the chat channels lately?”
Savage Wolf Shelter had been keeping an eye on the two of them for a long time, and despite them being rescued for so many days, he hadn’t made a single move.
Vikram was the first to disbelieve that they didn’t know what had happened.
“I know, I saw them talking on the channel a couple of days ago.”
“But it’s not about the two of us.”
“They don’t seem to care about this at all; instead, they’ve started selling winter supplies in the group chat,” Anjali, curled up on the sofa, glanced at Vikram and then began to explain.
“And sales are pretty good, with many buyers praising Savage Wolf Shelter as the number one shelter in our area on the channel.”
“It seems that Savage Wolf Shelter’s reputation in the area chat channel is now far ahead of the other two shelters.” Anjali, curled up on the sofa, glanced at Vikram before speaking.
“Selling cold-weather gear? Is that even possible? Savage Wolf Shelter is so powerful, selling cold-weather gear in this kind of environment?”
Listening to the answer he had just heard, and repeating the topic to himself in disbelief, he muttered to himself.
At the same time, a person popped into his mind: a survivor that Vikram had offended back in the Acid Rain era.
He seemed to have seen his cold-weather gear being sold before, and now that Savage Wolf Shelter was doing the same thing, it was hard not to connect the dots.
Frowning, he then asked Anjali again, “Is the Savage Wolf Shelter member you mentioned who sells winter gear in the channel named Brijbhushan?”
“How do you know you saw those messages too?” Seeing Vikram’s serious expression, she sat up straight and answered his question while asking it herself.
“It really is him.” He didn’t answer Anjali, but murmured to himself.
“Those two groups are truly birds of a feather.” He recalled how he had even reported Brijbhushan when he was selling acid rain.
He vaguely remembered that Brijbhushan told him to wait, and from the tone of his voice, it seemed that he also planned to take revenge on him.
This Brijbhushan was selling clothes honestly, and Vikram didn’t even want to talk to him.
Now that he’s hooked up with Savage Wolf Shelter, he’s getting a little itchy to do something.
“It was good that they have not done anything for now, or else, I have cleaned them,” Vikram said, as he still remembered about Rahul Soniwal.
It seems that Savage Wolf Shelter has not yet taken any action against him.
However, Vikram estimated that given the nature of their shelter, they were definitely plotting something behind the scenes.
But he was also waiting for the cold disaster to end, before he would get in action.
Not to mention that he didn’t know Savage Wolf Shelter’s exact location, the outside world was filled with wind and snow, and the weather was freezing cold.
“Let’s take it one step at a time. The extreme cold is almost over. Before the next natural disaster arrives, there will be plenty of time to deal with them.”
He hadn’t forgotten that he had planted an undercover agent in Brown Wood Shelter.
With a sophisticated system in control, he wasn’t worried about failing to pinpoint Savage Wolf Shelter’s exact location.
Coming to his senses, he gave the two people looking at him a reassuring look. “First, try your best to get through the extreme cold disaster. I’ll handle Savage Wolf Shelter.”
Hearing this they all nodded, they knew, after the cold disaster will end, there will be a fight between the Vikram and Savage Wolf Shelter.
—
At night, the four of them sat around the fireplace.
It was almost midnight, but the four of them showed no sign of going back to their rooms to sleep.
Not only them, but all the survivors in the wasteland have now developed the habit of keeping watch every seven days.
Not for any other reason than to observe whether they can withstand the changes in natural disasters.
“They’re here, they’re here.” Anjali tugged at Vikram’s arm, whether out of excitement or fear.
She pointed to his wrist, gesturing for him to look at the unusual movement on his left wrist.
Vikram wasn’t in a hurry; he first looked at the remaining survivors in the world chat.
The number of survivors still alive was beyond his expectations. Last time, there were less than 3.9 billion survivors left, but now, a week later, the number has hardly decreased.
’I wonder if some new methods of keeping warm have spread among the survivors.’
After regaining his senses, he looked at the light on his left wrist. First, a text notification was sent, and then the mysterious voice slowly rang out.
[The fifth phase of extreme cold has officially begun. The temperature dropped another 10 degrees Celsius.]
[First of all, congratulations to all the survivors who are still alive! The wasteland world is much more fun because of you.]
[Secondly, there are the survivors who died for various reasons. Don’t worry, the merciful wasteland will allow them to reappear in the world in a different form.]
[Perhaps, you two can have another family reunion?]
[Finally, the number of survivors in the wasteland was less than half, and after this battle, the overall land area of the wasteland shrank by half.]
[Keep going, survivors! The challenges ahead await you.]
“A dead survivor reappearing in the world? What does that mean?”
“Do they still have a chance to be resurrected?” Upon hearing this, Divya repeated the words of the mysterious voice, puzzled.
“Impossible. How could someone be resurrected in this dogshit world that treats people like dirt?” Anjali, unusually quick-witted, denied the idea.
“Yeah, no one even want to resurrect here,” Sophia also agreed with them.
The three nodded at the same time, deeply understanding what she meant.
If the wasteland were really that great, with people who are killed coming back to life, then there would be no need for all these ridiculous natural disasters.
But if Vikram doesn’t figure out what that voice was saying, he probably won’t be able to sleep tonight.
“A different form of resurrection.” He muttered to himself, his fingers still tapping on the armrest of the sofa.
As his gaze wandered, the ring on Divya’s finger caught his attention.
