Wasteland: I Awakened A Plant System - Chapter 204: Following Brown Wood Shelter

“Alright, time’s almost up, Abhishek, notify the brothers to set off immediately.”
A rather robust Survivor glanced at the Survival Platform, then gave the order.
“Got it.” Abhishek responded, striding towards rows of neat iron houses.
He pushed open door after door, signaling the members inside to come out.
It seemed his words carried weight; not a single member who received the instruction remained unmoved.
One by one, they obediently put on their gear and walked out of the houses in order, standing before the burly man, ready to depart.
Seeing that everyone was present, the man simply made a gesture, and all members moved in the direction he indicated.
Abhishek was no exception, except that he slowly moved from the front of the team to the very back.
This scene naturally fell into the burly man’s eyes, but he didn’t pay attention, still looking straight ahead.
“Not bad, Brother Abhishek, you’re doing quite well in the Brown Wood Shelter.”
“So many subordinates have to listen to you. How is this different from how you always cry about your misfortunes in the chat?”
At this moment, a familiar voice sounded next to Abhishek, with a slightly teasing tone.
“Brother, I beg you, brother, if this is discovered, it’s really no joke, I’ll be beaten to death!”
From within the black fog, faint ’crunching’ footsteps could be heard.
As vision slowly pierced through the black fog, the slightly chaotic footsteps gradually became clearer, and a large group of figures appeared intermittently in the mist.
The ground of the Wasteland World was still covered in boot-high snow, and as this group of people walked by, they left behind countless footprints.
It seemed they were afraid of getting lost if they weren’t careful; judging by the density of their footprints, the spacing between each person in this team was quite compact.
At the back of the team, there were surprisingly two suspicious-looking people lingering behind.
They had fallen a short distance behind the main group.
“Vikram Boss, I didn’t lie to you, did I? Isn’t the Brown Wood Shelter even more disciplined than you imagined?”
One of the two men whispered.
As he spoke, he didn’t forget to glance at the team ahead, as if guarding against something.
The other man, hearing this, merely shrugged, noncommittal to what the first man said.
Upon seeing the members of the Brown Wood Shelter for the first time, Vikram had already realized they were somewhat different from the Savage Wolf Shelter.
At least regarding the commands given by the higher-ups, these Survivors truly seemed to be obedient.
However, he merely pursed his lips and didn’t express any opinion.
It turned out that the two people lagging behind the team were Abhishek and Vikram, who had infiltrated the Brown Wood Shelter’s exploration team.
Abhishek, seeing that Vikram showed no sign of fear, silently sighed inwardly.
It wasn’t just because he was afraid Vikram would act against him, but more so because he feared losing the position he had worked so hard to achieve.
One must know, Vikram’s successful infiltration into this team was entirely due to Abhishek providing cover.
“If I get discovered, my position as a half high level member will be gone. I might even be beaten to death by the territory’s high level members.”
Thinking of this, he couldn’t help but feel like crying.
He also didn’t dare to directly send away Vikram, this ’lord,’ so he could only try to scare Vikram into leaving.
But now, this plan has clearly failed.
While he was looking distressed, Vikram was completely different from him.
This resource point was discovered by the Brown Wood Shelter, and he was secretly following along to freeload on the supplies.
Since he was there to take advantage, there was naturally no reason to be upset.
“A Hospital?”
“By the way, how far is it from here to that resource point?” Vikram turned his head and asked.
Hearing this, Abhishek could only reply with a sad face, “Vikram Boss, if I knew, I would have told you already. Would you still need to sneak into this team?”
“You’ve already set off, and you, a high-level member, still don’t know?” Vikram asked, somewhat confused.
Both were high level members, but the one leading the team clearly knew the route, while Abhishek claimed he didn’t.
If he couldn’t still feel the bracelet on Abhishek’s wrist, he would have suspected this was a trap designed by Abhishek to trick him.
“Boss, you don’t know about this. Our Brown Wood Shelter’s Boss is famously tight-lipped.”
“I estimate that, for the location of this resource point, only our Boss and the person leading the team know, no one else.”
“If you don’t believe me, you can ask the Survivors walking ahead.”
Hearing this, Vikram waved his hand, indicating that the matter didn’t need to be brought up again.
Asking those unnecessary questions now would only easily attract attention; it was better to lie low.
“I’ll keep up the act for a bit longer, at least until I know the Hospital’s location.”
With this thought, Vikram continued to follow, constantly looking ahead to prevent any unexpected trouble.
Whether it was bad luck or something else, just as he was intently looking forward, trying to appear completely normal…
The team ahead suddenly showed some unusual movement.
The disturbance spread through time to the end of the team.
Finally, a member turned around, first stared at him, then waved him over.
Seeing this, Vikram froze in place, secretly cursing at the same time.
“Discovered so quickly?”
It shouldn’t be?
Their conversation shouldn’t have been loud enough for these ’little rookies’ to hear.
He wasn’t worried about not being able to escape, but rather regretted that being discovered meant he couldn’t explore that resource point together with them.
As he thought this, his hand already reached for his backpack; as soon as he was discovered, he planned to immediately drive away.
But just then, the member in front, seeing Vikram hadn’t moved, finally spoke, “What are you standing around for? Andres bro told you and Abhishek to keep up. We’re almost there, don’t get lost in the black fog.”
With that, the Survivor didn’t wait to see if Vikram had heard, and simply turned back around.
Hearing this, he breathed a sigh of relief and, together with Abhishek, quickly caught up with the team.
At the same time, he didn’t forget to use chat to ask Abhishek about the person named ’Andres bro’.
“You mean Andres? He’s the one leading the team. Boss, whatever you do, don’t provoke him. Although I’m also a high-level member, I’m far from his level.”
“This Andres is really powerful. It’s said that all his physical attribute values are around 40 points. If you get caught by him, I won’t be able to save you.”
Abhishek had actually never truly understood Vikram’s strength. In his opinion, even if Vikram was strong, he would at most be in the realm of 40 physical attributes.
If it came to a fight, besides Andres, don’t forget there were thirty other people standing by.
“Physical attributes at forty points?” Hearing this, Vikram was somewhat surprised, which meant the other party also knew about crystals.
And most likely, the upper limit of ten ordinary crystals should have already been absorbed.
Otherwise, without a system, thirty points of physical attributes would be the absolute maximum.
Vikram was still pondering his chances of fighting all thirty people of the Brown Wood Shelter alone.
Suddenly, several shouts from survivors came from ahead.
Vikram looked up and scanned ahead, discovering that several zombies had rushed into the middle of the team from the black fog.
Two of the members were bitten before they even had time to react.
“They got hit already? These people aren’t that strong after all.” Looking at the situation ahead, he pursed his lips, disdainfully.
He could tell at a glance that those zombies were just ordinary zombies.
Appearing disciplined was one thing; the strength of the members was another.
Just as he was enjoying the show, he unexpectedly saw a zombie also rush out from the black fog on the side, immediately attacking him.
“Tsk.” Seeing the zombie pounce, Vikram clicked his tongue, merely shifting his body slightly, and the zombie plunged into the crowd behind him.
However, just as he was enjoying watching the zombie and the Brown Wood Shelter members fight among themselves, his peripheral vision caught a chilling gaze…
His heart skipped a beat; in less than half a second, Vikram immediately realized the source of that gaze was none other than the very front of the team.
Thinking of this, having just dodged a zombie, he immediately summoned his weapon again and slashed the back of that zombie’s head.
At this moment, the zombie was no more than five centimeters away from the nearest survivor.
The survivor pinned beneath the zombie could even smell the blood from its mouth.
Vikram’s strike had undoubtedly saved his life.
Watching the zombie fall limply onto his chest, the survivor immediately cast a grateful look at him.
“Thanks, brother,” the survivor, having narrowly escaped death, said gratefully as he pushed away the now-dead zombie.
Vikram didn’t respond until that gaze shifted away from him, then he nodded at the survivor.
“That was close!” he thought to himself.
If he hadn’t reacted quickly and made a timely save, he would surely have aroused suspicion from the other party.
“Everyone, be careful. We’re almost at the resource point, so don’t die now.”
In front, Andres’s sturdy figure was very conspicuous among the crowd. He was currently holding a zombie in one hand and shouting to the team behind him.
Vikram was certain that the gaze just now had come from him.
Besides him, there were several other Survivors walking alongside him; a glance was enough to tell that their physiques were extraordinary.
He summoned the system to scan the leading group of people.
“Name: Andres, Strength: 41, Speed: 41, Stamina: 40, Reaction: 39”
“Name: Abel, Strength: 39, Speed: 38, Stamina: 38, Reaction: 37”
“Name: Alan, Strength: 38, Speed: 40, Stamina: 38, Reaction: 39”
“Name: Alonzo, Strength: 40, Speed: 39, Stamina: 37, Reaction: 40”
There were four high-ranking members, each with around 40 in their stats, and behind them were several others with stats around twenty.
Vikram frowned slightly as he looked at these leading high-ranking members.
He then looked at his own stat panel.
“Host: Vikram Strength: 58 Speed: 61 Stamina: 57 Reaction: 60”
So far, he had only used seven crystals, while these high-ranking members had clearly reached the upper limit for stat increases from ordinary crystals.
“I can still crush them in terms of stats; it’s just that the number of people in this team is still a bit of a hindrance.” After a quick mental comparison, Vikram nodded.
He hadn’t reached the Hospital yet, so he planned to observe for a while.
Soon, after the zombies were cleared, the group continued forward.
During this time, Vikram noticed that the two Survivors who had been bitten by zombies earlier had already been abandoned.
They watched helplessly as the team left them behind.
Most people in the team seemed accustomed to such incidents, as not a single person spoke up for them.
Vikram merely sighed to himself, lamenting the cheapness of human lives in the Wasteland World, and then caught up with the others.
Soon, after walking for less than half an hour, the team ahead stopped first.
At the same time, Andres’s command rang out again.
“We’re here. We don’t know what dangers are inside, so get all your gear out.”
As Andres’s words fell, the team members pulled out their respective weapons.
Vikram also shifted his gaze from the crowd to the massive building directly in front of him.
No.
To call it a building was inaccurate; it was actually a complex of several buildings combined.
Vikram, who had initially thought this was just an exploration of a regular Hospital, widened his eyes at the enormous Hospital complex ahead.
