Weakest Beast Tamer Gets All SSS Dragons - Chapter 944 - Tamed by Fire - 3

Chapter 944 – Tamed by Fire – 3
Spatial relocation gave Liora the perfect angle. Perfect shot. Projection being directed toward the center where Ren’s body remained.
The spiritual fireball crossed the distance in a direct trajectory. Black-purple flames trailing behind like a comet’s tail. Beautiful and terrifying… Salvation and destruction in a single package.
But corruption’s last effort had blocked Larissa and Luna’s light for this critical moment.
The light manifestation surrounding Ren’s body and having served as a barrier that wasn’t physical but energetic opened for an instant. That imaginary cage with light bars failed JUST an instant. But it was enough.
And the corruption surrounding him moved with Ren’s body.
Control over the host being used to force muscles to execute a jump that led to him escaping the “light prison” Larissa and Luna had created. Ren, or the thing controlling his form, managed to get completely out of the lethal area.
The movement had unfortunately even been sufficiently fast.
He was clear. The fireball would miss. Would impact ground where he’d been rather than where he was. Would waste all that power. All that preparation. All that hope…
And corruption would survive and consume him completely now that it knew they could hurt it. Would never give them a second chance.
They’d failed. Been so close. But before the fireball impacted…
Lin appeared directly in front of Ren with the enormous speed her fusion provided.
She’d been watching. Predicting an escape attempt before it happened. So she executed a kick with force and form only sufficient to push but not overly injure.
Impact being specifically directed at his center of mass in a manner maximizing momentum transfer. Just put him back where he needed to be.
Technical perfection. Decades of experience compressed into a single movement with every muscle firing in perfect sequence. The strike connected perfectly and sent him back toward the fireball’s trajectory that continued approaching the ground.
It was a marvelous reversal of the escape forcing the target back into the lethal zone. Beautiful in its precision.
Ren’s body flew backward and there was nothing more corruption could do. The big fireball finally impacted.
Spiritual fire connecting with the accumulated corruption and resulting in a mutual annihilation reaction more aggressive than simple combustion would be.
It wasn’t burning. It was erasure… Dark energy covering Ren being destroyed in an explosion that made the air vibrate.
The detonation was almost soundless but overwhelming. No physical noise but spiritual pressure so intense it made the mana veins in the body of every tamer feel something akin to their ears ringing. And light. Not normal light but spiritual luminance that made corruption visible in ways it hadn’t been before. That showed every tendril, every connection, every contaminated channel.
And then this sent an energy pulse through the black networks on the ground that corruption had built in convergence with the point where Ren was located.
A purification surge propagating through long connections the entity had established to expand its influence in already numerous mutants.
The tentacles withered as it was consumed by the flames.
And then it was gone leaving an exhausted body and a human who’d been trapped beneath darkness finally free.
The girls first looked up when they felt a change in ambient temperature.
Liora had extinguished and was falling from the elevated position where she’d carried herself using the final spatial jump.
She’d launched the fireball from above specifically to eliminate any advantage shadows provided to corruption. Superior angle negating most coverage darkness would’ve offered.
But now that she was almost completely exhausted and her technique, having drained reserves to the point where remaining combined with her Will-o’-Wisp required considerable effort, ended…
She fell like a stone. Just her body obeying gravity with nothing left to resist.
Lin moved with that speed her fusion permitted. Positioning herself to intercept the fall before Liora impacted the ground.
She caught her with care contrasting with the violence she was capable of.
“Well done,” Lin murmured.
Larissa on her side also thanked Luna for the support she’d provided cutting tentacles to protect her and adding her own light when necessary.
Verbal recognition of a contribution having been critical to the operation’s success. It was becoming a habit of hers acquired from thanking people when helping Julius and Arturo but not perfunctory… Genuine appreciation between ‘sisters’ and also warriors who’d fought together. Luna nodded briefly in response before running toward where Ren was collapsing.
Priority now being verifying the condition of the one they’d been trying to save through a somewhat aggressive process. He was free but was he okay? Was he damaged? Was he conscious?
The others followed quickly. Convergence toward the position where Ren now fell after being freed from the control that corruption had exercised over his system during those minutes that felt like a compressed eternity for everyone.
Ren, finally free from the influence dominating him, fell to his knees.
It was a collapse that was both physical and mental. Exhaustion from the prolonged battle combined with the trauma from having lost control so completely.
He was shaking. Hands pressed against the ground like he needed to confirm it was real. That he was back. That the nightmare was over.
Around them something positive was also happening.
The mutants pressing against the defenses changed their attitude dramatically. Their behavior transforming from continuous aggression to ominous stillness.
They had stopped. Just stopped. Mid-charge, mid-attack… Mid-everything. Like things receiving a signal to cease that overrode all previous programming.
It offered a welcome respite to the defensive lines pushed to their sustainability limits. What had happened? Had the corruption controlling them died when Liora purified Ren as the network connecting them collapsed when the central node was destroyed? Had something else changed that they didn’t understand?
They didn’t know. Just accepted gift of a moment without pressure. But the motionless respite was brief.
Soon the mutants turned toward Ren specifically.
Orientation being synchronized in a manner communicating they were still being directed by something. All faces. All eyes. All attention focused on a single point… On a single person. On Ren kneeling exhausted and vulnerable.
And an energy that was genuinely ominous was perceived from below.
Not from mutants. From underground.
Something was there. Something massive. Something aware… Something focused directly on Ren.
