Chapter 321

’Also, I remember him having a son? At least, his bloodline can still be preserved and put to some use. I need to act fast and absorb the household before those vultures arrive.’

He felt a little better as he recalled the details. He was going to eat a big share of pie today and his household strength would skyrocket after absorbing the western region.

Behind him, the guards continued their work, carrying the last survivors away from a region that no longer existed.

______________

"Did you hear the news?"

"Yes, what a tragedy..."

"Tsk, tsk, who could have expected this..."

There were murmurs in a certain bar in the southern city region.

Oliver perked up his ears when he heard something interesting.

"Indeed, the western region is completely ruined. I used to like the vases they sold there..."

"Still, to think that the infamous western head would suffer backlash and go berserk on his own people—it sounds gruesome."

’The western region is destroyed?’ Oliver was a little surprised.

He had not expected this outcome at all.

’Wait, but why did he go berserk? Is it because I killed his son?’ He frowned and shook his head.

’No, if that were the case, he would have turned berserk on the spot. I don’t believe that he had such strong emotions towards that useless son of his... then... just what... wait, could it be the mirror!?’

His eyes widened as he connected the dots. This was definitely the case. His gut feeling told him that it was exactly that.

’What is that mirror?’

He felt even more curious about it now.

But he knew that at his current level, he could not decipher it.

He moved his mind away from the matter. Anyway, the destruction of the western region was good news for him.

With the news reaching even this area, it meant that the household head must have been killed by others by now.

Although it was a bit regretful since he was planning to exorcise him using [Ancestral Voodoo Arts] but it was all for better.

It was a quick elimination.

’I hope those guys made it out safely...’ His mind went back to the group of exorcists.

’This was a golden chance for them. Such a big diversion wouldn’t be easy to come by. I hope they left the city.’

He had unknowingly helped the group again.

He could only smile wryly at this. He moved his head back to look at the jug of water in his hand. His purpose today was different.

He was here to properly convert the goods into income.

He was waiting for someone in this bar.

To sell the antiques that he had, going to the market directly to sell them was basically asking to be arrested and executed.

After all, they were all stolen from the household of the western head who had recently wreaked havoc.

He could only resort to selling the items through shady channels. Like humans, demons also followed a set of rules.

However, there were always those who defied the system and worked differently.

Now, Oliver was not sure if the person he was meeting was even legitimate or just a scammer.

He had no way of knowing. He found his contact on the demon network and made a request to meet up in private to discuss business.

There was a high chance that this person was just a scammer looking to make some easy cash. But given his circumstances, he could only take this bet.

He was prepared to escape if there were any signs of danger. He had to take some risk.

Just at that moment, he sensed a peculiar presence behind him.

"Westrol22?"

A gruff voice called out to him as he turned around, his eyes narrowing slightly. He could not sense the demon until he was quite close.

’Perhaps a concealment artifact?’ He guessed.

Westrol22 was the username of the account he was using, so he nodded slightly.

Both of them were covered in hoods, rendering each other’s features unrecognizable.

It appeared that the other party was just as cautious, which increased the chances of them not being a scammer.

"So, let me get this straight—you have some antiques and items that you’d like to trade?" He went straight to the point.

"Yes, I am interested," Oliver agreed.

"Since you reached out to me, I am assuming that the items are of suspicious origins. But as I mentioned on the demon web, we don’t care. However, the price will be lower than the market price—you understand that much?" he confirmed.

"I know."

It was obvious. They were stolen, so the handling charges would take a fair share of the cut.

"Great. Then follow me. I will be appraising," he got up and signaled Oliver to follow.

’Huh, that was easy.’

Oliver followed the hooded dealer to an inconspicuous shop. It was an ordinary meat shop.

The hooded man ignored the shopkeeper and led him inside, towards a private room within.

It was a moderately sized room with paper mats and a round table in the middle.

"Here, take out the items." He motioned to him.

Oliver nodded and started retrieving the items one by one.

From vases, paintings, carpets—everything was taken out for appraisal.

As the hooded dealer appraised the items one after another, his expression gradually turned ugly.

’These items... has he robbed the nobility?’

At that thought, he could not help but feel shocked. He was not expecting such a thing when he found someone approach him on the web.

He was quite a resourceful demon, he knew of various things that the common folk could never know, he had established his business using his wits, deep connections and extensive knowledge.

He knew he was not wrong, these items were valuables.

He did not need to be told that all these items belonged to someone wealthy and powerful. These vases, which were no longer on the market, the embroidery on the carpets woven from actual gold—it was all a hundred percent real.

He looked from the golden sheet in his hand to the guy before him. He could not see his face; not to mention, his presence was undetectable.

’What sort of artifact erases one’s entire presence? It’s like he’s not even in front of me.’
