Chapter 646: Chapter 275: The Dark Sea’s Way of Hospitality
Fang Shuwen asked again,
"Are there only these three islands?"
"There’s a fourth island."
Cheng Bali thought for a moment before saying,
"But that place is far too dangerous. The environment there is completely different from the reef-and-whirlpool region we’re in now.
"It’s shrouded in mist year-round. It also has whirlpools and reefs, but it’s completely impassable.
"Every so often, the mist there dissipates for a short while.
"But it doesn’t last long—sometimes just for the time it takes an incense stick to burn, or to finish a cup of tea.
"People have taken advantage of the clear moments to look, and they’ve seen an island in the center of that area.
"But no one has ever been able to reach it.
"I heard the Three Fiends of the Dark Sea went there once, but no one knows what’s on it.
"They never spoke of it..."
Fang Shuwen’s heart skipped a beat. The island Cheng Bali was describing had to be the location of the secret treasure Shui Tianxin had told him about.
’But the Three Fiends of the Dark Sea have been there before?’
’Did they fail to discover its secrets, or did they go and find they couldn’t get in?’
As the thought crossed his mind, the violent shaking of their surroundings suddenly vanished.
He snapped his head up and saw that all the whirlpools on the sea’s surface were gone.
"We’ve entered the inner Dark Sea Territory."
Cheng Bali told Fang Shuwen,
"The waters here are calm, as if we’ve entered another world."
Fang Shuwen glanced at him. Cheng Bali just smiled.
His smile was so simple and honest. Who would have thought he was one of the Dark Sea Territory’s great brigands, a man who had slaughtered countless people?
Fang Shuwen withdrew his gaze and looked ahead.
Sure enough, three islands lay before them.
Seeing that it was getting late, Fang Shuwen clapped Cheng Bali on the shoulder.
"Head for the island."
Cheng Bali acknowledged the order and steered straight for the island.
Fang Shuwen turned to Zuo Xuan, who was standing off to the side.
"Tell the men behind us that in a moment, I will be going ashore... to kill."
’A place like the Dark Sea Territory... I might never come here again in this lifetime.’
’Since I’m here, I might as well not waste the opportunity. I’ll just slaughter every last one of these brigands who have plagued the East Sea for so long.’
Zuo Xuan acknowledged the order and hurried off to relay the message.
But Fang Shuwen had phrased his words with some reservation. He only said that *he* was going ashore to kill, not that he required anyone else to join him.
As for what the others would do... Fang Shuwen didn’t seem to care.
Zuo Hong then asked,
"Should we scuttle their ships, then?"
Fang Shuwen chuckled.
"You’re getting the hang of this, but it won’t be necessary this time.
"We’ve brought so many men. I doubt they’ll try to escape by sea."
Zuo Hong glanced at the fleet of large ships behind them and the countless figures aboard them, then nodded slowly.
Cheng Bali didn’t hear Fang Shuwen’s words. He simply followed his orders, steering the ship toward the central island, the one controlled by the ’Raging Heaven Mad Demon,’ Li Qiuyu.
He hadn’t expected to run into another vessel along the way.
It had entered the Dark Sea Territory from a different direction.
Upon spotting each other, the other ship seemed to be on the verge of approaching, but then they saw the fleet behind Fang Shuwen. They stopped dead in their tracks, then dashed toward the island as if their lives depended on it.
Cheng Bali only needed a single glance to recognize them.
"That’s a Blood Shark vessel. They’re one of the Seven Hundred Water Fiends."
Fang Shuwen nodded, unfazed, and told Cheng Bali to keep going.
At last, their ship neared the island’s docks, where vessels of all sizes were moored.
But it wasn’t just ships waiting for them. There were people...
Even from a distance, they could see that the ships and the docks were teeming with people.
They held crossbows, all aimed from afar.
Cheng Bali’s face went pale.
"This is bad..."
Fang Shuwen let out a soft laugh.
"Keep moving. Ignore them."
With a flicker, he appeared at the bow of the ship.
Hearing this, Cheng Bali was sure the man had gone mad. ’Those are countless crossbows! The devastation from a full volley would be unimaginable!’
’If we keep going, won’t we be turned into pincushions?’
’Does he really think the name "Demon Evil God" makes him impervious to weapons?’
But he was in no position to argue. He had no choice but to do as Fang Shuwen said.
As they drew closer, a loud shout came from the shore:
"FIRE!!"
VWOOM!!
With the first great thrum, the sky was instantly blotted out by a dense swarm of arrows.
They descended like a plague of locusts, a chaotic, indiscriminate downpour of death.
The corner of Fang Shuwen’s mouth curled into a slight smirk.
"Excellent."
He spread his arms, and the True Qi around him billowed. In an instant, a colossal Wind God Dharma Aspect materialized at his back.
The Dharma Aspect clenched its fists and, in perfect sync with Fang Shuwen, punched down toward the surface of the sea.
The sea instantly began to boil, followed by a deafening, earth-shattering ROAR!
A massive wave erupted from the water, transforming into a surging tsunami. Accompanied by a gale-force wind, it swept up and swallowed the entire volley of arrows from the sky.
An Invisible Fist Force blasted out. WHOOSH! The arrows caught in the wave were struck by the Fist Force and sent flying back the way they came.
Each arrow was now wreathed in Wind Force, making them not only faster than before but countless times more powerful.
SWISH SWISH SWISH, SWISH SWISH SWISH!!!
The men on the docks were mowed down like wheat, an entire swathe of them falling at once.
Fang Shuwen, however, just chuckled.
"The Dark Sea’s hospitality is certainly unique. I must say, it suits my tastes perfectly."
His voice boomed across the water, leaving everyone on the shore dumbstruck. They saw Fang Shuwen take a single step, his figure vanishing in an instant, only to reappear on the docks a blink of an eye later.
Still in mid-air, he raised his fist high, and a massive Fist Seal instantly condensed from the air above him.
Following the motion of Fang Shuwen’s strike, it smashed down viciously into the densest part of the crowd.
