LUCIAN’S POV

For a few seconds, I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.

Lucas stood in the corner of Olivia’s bedroom, his eyes fixed on us. His expression was so cold that I could practically feel his anger from where I lay.

"What the hell are you doing here?" I demanded, pulling the bedsheet higher over Olivia.

Lucas didn’t answer. His gaze shifted briefly to Olivia before returning to me, and I could see his jaw tightening.

"Lucas, I asked you a question!"

Instead of answering, he disappeared.

Just like that, the bastard teleported away, leaving me staring at the empty spot where he had been standing.

"What the fuck is wrong with him?" I muttered angrily. "Does he think he can just teleport into someone’s bedroom whenever he pleases?"

"Lucian, please," Olivia said softly, placing a hand on my arm. "He’s gone."

"That doesn’t make what he did acceptable. You’re my wife, Olivia. He had no right to come into your bedroom like that."

"I know," she replied, looking up at me. "But can we please not talk about him tonight?"

I turned toward her, ready to argue, but the moment our eyes met, I felt some of my anger fade. She was looking at me so pleadingly that I couldn’t bring myself to continue discussing my brother.

"Alright," I sighed. "We won’t talk about him."

"Thank you."

I leaned down and kissed her forehead before pulling her into my arms. She rested her head against my chest, and I wrapped the bedsheet around us, making sure she was comfortable.

For a while, neither of us spoke. I could still feel the anger simmering inside me, especially whenever I remembered the expression on Lucas’s face, but I refused to let him ruin the rest of our night. Whatever problem he had with me could wait until tomorrow.

Eventually, Olivia’s breathing became slow and steady. I glanced down and realized she had fallen asleep. A faint smile crossed my lips as I kissed the top of her head, tightened my arm around her, and closed my eyes.

The following morning, I woke to sunlight streaming through the curtains.

Olivia was still asleep beside me, her head resting against my shoulder and one arm draped across my chest. I remained still for a moment, watching her sleep. Her hair was scattered across the pillow, and her face looked so peaceful that I didn’t have the heart to wake her.

I gently brushed a strand of hair away from her face and pressed a kiss to her forehead. When she stirred slightly, I smiled and kissed her cheek as well.

"Good morning, beautiful," I whispered, even though I knew she was still asleep.

Carefully, I slipped out of bed and pulled the covers over her shoulders. After making sure she was comfortable, I gathered my clothes from the floor and quietly left her bedroom, closing the door behind me.

I returned to my room, took a shower, and changed into a fresh shirt and trousers. I had barely finished getting dressed when someone knocked on my door.

"Come in," I called, fastening the last button of my shirt.

The door opened, and Leo stepped inside. One look at his unusually serious expression told me he had something important to report.

"Good morning, Lucian."

"Morning, Leo. What’s wrong?"

"A messenger arrived from the Alpha Council a few minutes ago."

I glanced at him. "And?"

"They’ve requested your presence at a meeting this morning."

"Did they say what it’s about?"

"Yes. Apparently, it concerns the marriage agreement between the Full Moon Pack and Blood Moon Pack."

I couldn’t help laughing when I heard that.

"Oh, so they’ve finally decided to summon me?" I said, shaking my head. "I was expecting this."

Leo looked at me curiously. "You were?"

"Of course. I knew it was only a matter of time before this issue reached the council." I picked up my wristwatch from the bedside table and fastened it around my wrist. "Well, there’s no point delaying it. I might as well go there and get this over with once and for all."

"Should I have the guards prepare your car?"

"Yes. Tell them I’ll be down shortly."

"Alright, Lucian."

Leo turned toward the door, but I stopped him before he could leave.

"And Leo?"

He looked back. "Yes?"

"Don’t mention this to Olivia yet. I’ll explain everything to her when I return."

"Understood."

After he left, I picked up my phone and checked the time. I wasn’t particularly worried about the meeting. If anything, I was relieved that the council had finally decided to address the matter. I had been expecting the issue to come up sooner or later, and I saw no reason to keep postponing something that needed to be settled.

Besides, the sooner I could put the marriage arrangement behind me, the sooner I could focus on building a proper relationship with Olivia. I had already wasted enough time pretending that my feelings for her meant nothing, and I wasn’t going to make that mistake again.

A short while later, I left the mansion and headed for the council headquarters.

By the time I arrived, several vehicles were already parked outside the enormous building. I stepped out of my car and headed toward the entrance, where two council guards immediately bowed.

"Alpha Lucian. The elders are waiting for you."

I nodded and followed them inside. As we approached the council chamber, I noticed several guards stationed outside the large double doors. One of them stepped forward and pushed the doors open, allowing me to enter.

The moment I walked inside, my gaze landed on Alpha Kenneth of the Blood Moon Pack, who was seated among the council elders. He looked annoyingly comfortable, with his arms folded across his chest as though he had been waiting for me.

Lucas was also there, dressed in his formal royal attire.

For a moment, our eyes met. His expression remained unreadable, as though nothing had happened between us the previous night. I felt a fresh wave of irritation at the sight of him, but I wasn’t about to start an argument in front of the council.

I ignored him and turned my attention to the elders.

"Alpha Lucian," the head elder greeted me. "Thank you for coming."

"Let’s skip the formalities," I replied, pulling out a chair and taking my seat. "I already know why I’m here, so I’d appreciate it if we could get straight to the point."

The head elder nodded before opening a document on the table.

"Very well. This meeting concerns the marriage agreement between you and Princess Annabel of the Blood Moon Pack."

"Yes, I’m aware."

"Alpha Kenneth has brought certain concerns regarding the agreement to our attention."

I turned toward Kenneth, who was still sitting with his arms folded across his chest.

"What concerns?" I asked.

Kenneth leaned forward, resting his elbows on the table.

"I believe it’s time we discussed the future of my daughter’s marriage to you, Alpha Lucian."

I let out a humorless laugh. "Funny you should mention that, because I’ve been thinking about ending the arrangement myself."

A murmur spread through the chamber, and several elders exchanged glances. Kenneth’s expression immediately hardened.

"You intend to dissolve the marriage agreement?"

"Yes," I replied firmly, meeting his gaze. "And if that’s why you’ve called me here, then let’s get it over with."

The head elder cleared his throat, drawing my attention back to him.

"Alpha Lucian, I’m afraid it isn’t that simple."

I narrowed my eyes. "What do you mean?"

Instead of answering immediately, he turned the document around and pushed it toward me.

"Before making any decision, I suggest you review the terms of the agreement you signed."

I glanced down at the document, wondering what he was trying to prove. However, as my eyes moved across the familiar clauses, I suddenly remembered something I hadn’t thought about in a long time.

Fuck.

How could I have forgotten about that?

I had read the agreement before signing it, and I knew there were certain conditions attached to the marriage. But with everything that had happened since then, I had completely pushed those details out of my mind.

I slowly raised my head and looked at the elder.

"Are you telling me I cannot terminate this marriage agreement?"

The head elder nodded gravely.

"According to the contract, Alpha Lucian, the agreement cannot be dissolved until the stipulated period has expired."

I clenched my jaw, already beginning to regret how confidently I had walked into the meeting.

"And when exactly does that period end?"

The head elder studied me for a moment before gesturing toward the document.

"Why don’t you take another look at the contract yourself, Alpha Lucian?"

I frowned and lowered my gaze to the document again. This time, I read the relevant section carefully, following each line until I reached the clause stating how long the agreement was supposed to remain in effect.

My stomach dropped.

Three years.

Three fucking years!

I stared at the words in disbelief, reading them again to make sure I hadn’t misunderstood.

But there was no mistake.

The marriage agreement was supposed to remain binding for three years, and I had signed it with my own fucking hands.
