Chapter 45: Cabin 9
Cabin 9 was dark when Priya and Marcus reached it.
The path from the lodge was half-frozen gravel and pine needles that cracked under their shoes.
Behind them the mixer still leaked light and low voices through the main lodge windows, someone laughing, the dull pop of another bottle, the fire still going.
Ahead, the cabin sat quiet, its porch light off, the windows black.
The juniors from Marcus’s side had gone to the other lodge for the People Ops movie an hour earlier. Marcus had watched them leave.
He unlocked the door with the key he had kept in his coat the entire evening.
Priya stepped in first.
He followed, closed it, and turned the deadbolt with a soft, final click.
Neither of them reached for the overhead light.
The cabin was the same layout as 7, two rows of bunks, a scarred table, a sofa that had given up years ago, a bathroom with a schedule no one had posted on the door.
Heat ticked in the walls in uneven cycles.
The air smelled of old wood and the faint residual cold that never fully left these buildings.
Marcus dropped the key on the table.
Priya stood in the middle of the common space with her coat still on, breath visible for a second in the colder air near the door.
"You’re sure they’re gone until midnight," she said.
"Movie runs to eleven-forty. They’ll linger for the walk back and the complaining. We have time."
"Then stop standing there."
He crossed the space in two steps.
The kiss was not careful. It was the continuation of her sitting on his lap by the fire while the carton of dares got abandoned on the floor, of his mouth on her neck while someone else’s hand worked under a blanket three feet away.
Priya’s back hit the wall beside the bathroom door.
Marcus’s hands opened her coat and pushed it off her shoulders.
The coat hit the floor.
She dragged his sweater up and off between kisses, her nails scraping lightly down his chest when the fabric cleared.
His mouth found the side of her throat where the firelight had already been. She made a low sound and pulled him harder against her, one knee lifting to hook around his hip.
"Bed," she said against his mouth. "Not the wall. I want leverage."
They moved to the nearest lower bunk.
Marcus sat first, the frame creaking under his weight.
Priya climbed into his lap, straddling him, and kissed him again while her hands worked his belt open.
She got the zipper down, freed him, and stroked the length of him once, twice, assessing with the same practical attention she brought to a difficult clause.
He was already hard, already leaking at the tip.
She rose just enough to push her own leggings and underwear down one leg in an awkward, impatient shove, then sank onto him in one slow, continuous slide that forced a shared, punched-out breath out of both of them.
"Fuck," Marcus muttered against her mouth.
"That’s the idea."
She set the rhythm, deep, rolling strokes that took him to the hilt every time.
His hands gripped her hips hard enough to bruise.
The bunk frame creaked in a steady, incriminating pattern that would have carried through thinner walls.
Priya braced her palms on his shoulders and fucked him like she was finishing language that had fought her all week, exact, relentless, no wasted motion.
When he tried to thrust up harder she pushed him back down by the shoulders and kept control, grinding in tight circles that made his jaw go tight.
"Stay still."
"Priya—"
"I said stay still. Let me."
He stayed still.
She ground down, adjusted the angle until she found the one that made her breath catch, and took what she wanted until her breathing turned short and her thighs started to shake.
She came with her forehead against his and a broken, almost silent sound, cunt clenching around him in long waves that pulled a rough noise out of his chest.
Marcus held her through it, hands still locked on her hips, not finishing yet because she hadn’t said he could.
When the last tremor passed she lifted off him slowly, the wet sound of the separation loud in the quiet cabin.
She turned on the narrow mattress, went to her hands and knees, and looked back over her shoulder.
"Now. Hard. Don’t make me wait."
He moved behind her, gripped her hips, and thrust back in in one stroke. The angle was deeper.
Priya dropped to her forearms and pushed back to meet him.
Marcus fucked her in long, punishing strokes that made the bunk slam lightly against the wall.
The wet sound of it filled the cabin, skin, breath, the occasional raw noise she couldn’t fully swallow.
Outside, the frozen lake held the dark and said nothing. The path stayed empty, the juniors were still at the other lodge.
"Harder," she said.
He gave it to her harder.
One hand left her hip and fisted in her hair, tipping her head back so the line of her throat was exposed in the thin light from the window. The other reached under and found her clit, rubbing in tight, relentless circles timed to his thrusts.
Priya’s arms trembled.
Her breath broke into short, punched-out sounds against the mattress.
She came a second time with a raw, muffled cry into the blanket, and the clench of her dragged Marcus over the edge with her. He buried himself deep and pulsed hard, forehead dropped between her shoulder blades, the careful attorney from Legal gone for the length of it, the only sound left in him a low, continuous groan as he emptied into her.
They stayed locked together until their breathing slowed and the heat cycle in the walls ticked back on.
Marcus pulled out carefully.
A trickle of his release followed, slick on the inside of her thigh.
Priya rolled onto her side on the narrow bunk, one arm under her head, the other resting across her stomach.
For a long moment the only sound was the heat and the distant, muffled noise of the lodge, someone closing a door, a voice calling something unintelligible across the path.
Marcus spoke first, voice rough. "The juniors will be back by twelve."
"Then we clean up and look like we were never here."
"That’s the plan."
She sat up, found her leggings in the dark, and pulled them on with practical attention.
He fixed his clothes, found his sweater on the floor, and pulled it back over his head.
They wiped down the bunk with a towel from the bathroom, the evidence, the crease in the blanket, the faint dampness on the sheet, and straightened everything until it looked like an unused lower bunk in a cabin that had been empty all evening.
Priya checked the floor for anything that would not survive a midnight inspection. Marcus checked the table and the door.
Priya put her coat back on.
Marcus unlocked the deadbolt.
On the porch the cold air was sharp enough to sting.
The path back toward the lodge and the other cabins was empty under the thin security lights.
Priya paused at the bottom of the porch steps.
Her breath showed in the air.
"This stays here," she said. "
"Agreed."
"Good."
