Official Career Storm
Chapter 1928
Chapter 1928: Chapter 1928
The girl curled up on the bed, wrapped in a quilt, her face streaked with tears, looking pitiful as if she had just been violated.
Ji Dengke handed her the phone and said, "Take the call!"
The girl shook her head, her face full of fear.
"Damn it!" Ji Dengke was getting anxious, barely restraining himself from violence as he forcefully pressed the phone against her ear.
The girl tried to shake her head to free herself, but Ji Dengke directly held her head in place.
At that moment, Song Guanchao’s voice came through: "How much did they give you to frame Mr. Ji?"
The girl acted as if she didn’t hear and remained silent.
Song Guanchao could tell her breathing pattern had clearly changed.
"I’ll give you two choices."
Song Guanchao said coldly: "First, tell the police Mr. Ji raped you."
"Mr. Ji will be taken to the police station, and you will be the victim."
"Then I will find you, and you’ll regret making that decision."
"Second, tell the police that what happened was consensual, there was no coercion."
"Oh, I forgot to introduce myself; my name is Song Guanchao, Director of the City Government Office."
"Now, I’ll count to three, tell me your choice."
"1, 2..."
The girl thought he would offer her money to change her story, but he merely gave her two choices.
"3!" As soon as Song Guanchao finished speaking, the girl finally opened her mouth: "You’re asking me to change my story but give me nothing?"
Song Guanchao seemed amused: "You harm my people, ruin my plans, and still wish to take my money? Little girl, you’d better consider your own safety."
After speaking, Song Guanchao hung up the phone.
At this point, the girl started to panic.
She thought Ji Dengke’s connections would spend money to buy her silence, but things turned out vastly different than she imagined.
She was now very anxious and frightened.
Song Guanchao’s cold attitude and threatening words made it impossible for her to stay calm.
Ji Dengke took back the phone and saw the call had ended; he felt uncertain.
What did he actually say?
Was it dealt with?
"He..." Ji Dengke was about to ask when the door beeped and swung open.
Several police officers burst in, with their shoulder-mounted body cameras recording both occupants of the bed.
"Hands on your head, squat down!" One officer pointed at Ji Dengke and shouted.
Ji Dengke was on edge as he bravely asked, "This is my room, who allowed you to come in?"
The officer scoffed: "We received a report of a rape case here."
Then he turned to the girl, speaking gently: "Young lady, don’t be afraid..."
Before he could finish, the girl interrupted: "Who let you in?"
The officer was stunned, and Ji Dengke felt relieved.
The officer regained composure: "Young miss, did he threaten you? You..."
"Get out!" the girl demanded, "We’re friends; there’s no rape here!"
The officer was completely taken aback; this was not what the report described.
Ji Dengke felt entirely at ease, unsure of what Song Guanchao had said on the phone, but at least they passed this hurdle.
The officer glanced back and forth between the two, sensing something amiss.
He then looked at the hotel front desk staffer who accompanied him: "Do you know the consequences of a false report?"
The staffer was dumbfounded: "I didn’t make a false report; the girl was so drunk she became unconscious when they returned. And with such a large age gap between them, I feared something would happen, so I reported it."
The officer felt frustrated; the staffer’s reasoning wasn’t wrong.
Staff working in hotels would indeed want to avoid trouble.
But the officer also understood that this was likely a set-up.
Despite his annoyance, if the matter was resolved privately, it was better than handling it as a rape case.
"Sir, we’re sorry; we came because we received a report," the officer apologized to Ji Dengke.
Ji Dengke kept silent with a grim expression.
Song Guanchao had painstakingly managed to suppress this issue, and Ji Dengke had no intention of reigniting the flame now.
After the officers left, Ji Dengke called Song Guanchao again: "The police have gone."
Song Guanchao responded with a grunt: "I’ll come over; make sure the woman stays put."
"Okay."
Ji Dengke hung up and began dressing.
The girl noticed and asked, "Can I leave?"
"Leave?" Ji Dengke sneered, choosing to ignore her.
The girl was uneasy in her heart; although Ji Dengke didn’t stop her, she dared not leave just like that.
What Song Guanchao said on the phone had frightened her.
Meanwhile.
Song Guanchao had already left his home, and when his car was halfway to his destination, he suddenly thought of something.
If their goal was to sabotage Ji Dengke’s evaluation.
Then would the executives from the other two foreign companies facing evaluations be experiencing the same situation?
With this thought, he immediately pulled over and called President Huang.
"President Huang, are you asleep?"
"Just finished showering; Director Song, what’s up?"
Song Guanchao couldn’t directly say he was worried about a set-up.
After all, this is Jiangzhou; once President Huang learns about such matters, he may start questioning whether the political environment in Jiangzhou is problematic.
If President Huang reports this to the higher-ups of Zhengxun Electronics, the investment might be canceled.
Therefore, he found an excuse to invite President Huang to the City Government tomorrow to meet Mayor Wu.
After chatting for a while, Song Guanchao hung up and immediately called Director Ma.
He briefed Director Ma on the current situation and asked him to send someone to keep an eye on President Huang’s hotel, ensuring that such incidents don’t happen again.
Only after making these arrangements did Song Guanchao arrive at the hotel.
"Director Song."
Upon seeing him, Ji Dengke finally relaxed completely.
"Mr. Ji, go to the car first; I’ll be down shortly." He handed Ji Dengke the car key.
Ji Dengke had many questions he wanted to ask, but he also knew that Song Guanchao had a lot of questions for the girl. He accepted the key and left the room.
Song Guanchao closed the door and then turned off the light.
He walked around the room, making sure there were no surveillance devices, then turned the light back on.
The girl still sat on the bed wrapped in the quilt, her eyes lighting up upon seeing the young, tall, and handsome man.
"Is he actually Director Song?"
The girl was surprised, not expecting this official to be so young and manly.
Song Guanchao walked to the bed and picked up her phone, handing it to her: "Unlock your phone and give me the number of your contact."
The girl quietly replied "Oh," unlocked her phone, and recited a number.
Song Guanchao didn’t ask why she came.
She was merely a tool and unlikely to know many details.
Upon obtaining the number, Song Guanchao found her ID in her bag, photographed it, and left.
When the door closed, the girl was still a bit dazed.
She thought Song Guanchao would make threats and take advantage of her.
Instead, he just asked for a number, photographed her ID, and left?
She felt a mix of relief and inexplicable regret.
