Chapter 2953: The Ruins of Etna II

"It seems that the Primordial Calamity Typhon has sensed our arrival." Diane, Champion of Artemis, stated as she read the notification sent to them.

"I thought he was sealed?! How can affect the actual dungeon?" Lyaeus, Champion of Dionysus, asked in confusion.

"Did you not listen to what the gods and goddesses said? They said that the dungeon itself is powered by the Primordial Calamity Typhon. It would make sense that he would have some control over the dungeon. The actual dungeon is also the reason why the Primordial Calamity Typhon cannot escape from here." Melaina, Champion of Demeter, replied as she continued the explanation as it was clear that Lyaeus did not listen to the briefing.

The dungeon was created by the power of the Twin Gods along with the Olympian Gods as the Primordial Calamity Typhon cannot be sealed by conventional means. The Primordial Calamity Typhon regenerates miasma and energy in an almost unbreakable cycle. The only real one that could truly kill the Primordial Calamity Typhon would be the Creator God Chaos but the creator is nowhere to be found.

As the Primordial Calamity Typhon cannot be sealed through conventional means, the gods decided to have the seal be a bit special. A dungeon was created that draws the energy of the Primordial Calamity Typhon in a continuous fashion. The dungeon is now called the Ruins of Etna and it always takes energy from the sealed Primordial Calamity Typhon.

The sealed Primordial Calamity Typhon will release energy into the dungeon core and it will spawn the monsters that are present in the dungeon. The Ruins of Etna is not the typical dungeon where it has numerous layers of mobs and then a mini-boss after a few floors. The Ruins of Etna is a nine-floor dungeon that has a mini-boss on each floor. It is also considered one of the Forbidden Zones in the central continent.

The energy that the Primordial Calamity Typhon releases always spawn monsters which is why the Ruins of Etna needs to be cleared periodically. This has been converted into a training ground by the Olympian Gods for their demigod children and champions. It should only be cleared every hundred years or so hence the Ruins of Etna should not be full of monsters even now. The stairs to the next floor will only appear if the mini-boss is defeated hence the difficulty rises per floor.

"Let us just start the clearing. You got given the charm to find the mini-boss right? The only way to clear this quickly is defeating the mini-boss per floor. We do not need to literally wipe out the other monsters." Lyaeus, the Champion of Dionysus, stated as he no longer cared about the explanation and only want to clear the dungeon as quickly as possible.

Diane led the team to the location of the mini-boss as they got a trinket from the Goddess of the Hunt Artemis. She has a trinket that is a necklace in the shape of a crescent moon that gives the directions of monsters killed by the Goddess of the Hunt Artemis. This is not always active and can only be used with the Blessing of the Hunt with the goddess’ permission.

The first mini-boss that they encountered is a large ant that is the size of a house. It also has the ability to fly as it has large wings on its back. The arms of the ant monster are also extremely sharp and even releases poison. Lyaeus did not even wait for Diane to signal the start of the hunt as he instantly charged like a madman towards the mini-boss.

The ant mini-boss monster saw Lyaeus charging from mile away and charged towards him as well. The ant mini-boss monster even released toxic fumes towards Lyaeus in an attempt to poison him. One would think that the poison of a mini-boss will debilitate a player but Lyaeus did not care as he just passed through the poison mist. When Lyaeus came out of the poison mist, he even looked refreshed while also being intoxicated.

"Ahh! Such a fine scent! I think I can make good wine out of your bile sac!" Lyaeus shouted as his entire body looked like he was in a frenzy and even empowered.

The ant mini-boss noticed that its poison had no effect on the opponent which is why it used its scythe like hands to try and decapitate Lyaeus. In the end, Lyaeus actually caught the hands of the ant mini-boss without even receiving any injury. He then proceeded to rip the arms of the ant mini-boss like a deranged madman.

Lyaeus only stopped when the signs of life of the mini-boss were no longer showing. Diane and the others are not shocked by the sudden changes that occurred to Lyaeus. He is the Champion of Dionysus after all and madness comes to him as well. The only difference is that Lyaeus can control this madness properly which is why he was chosen by the God Dionysus directly unlike the others that had to prove themselves.

When the ant mini-boss got killed, the ground a few meters away from Lyaeus caved in and created a stairway that leads below. He did not stand in ceremony and went below while the others behind him followed. The other champions of Olympus did not restrict what Lyaeus is doing because he needs to waste all of the madness that he is currently afflicted with. If they get near him recklessly then they might become targets for him as well.

Lyaeus might have great control but there have been times that he got too carried away which is why the other champions of Olympus do not interact with him when he is in that state. They only followed quietly as they know that Lyaeus will ask for their help when all of the madness in his system has been used up or when an opponent he cannot handle appears before them.
