OMG! Tyrant's Pampered Baby Is a Valued Princess
Chapter 1476: I Don’t Like Him!
As you can imagine.
This meal didn’t go smoothly.
After it hastily ended, Bai Zhi’er immediately pulled Bai Xilie and Jing Jia back to the palace.
Feng Fuce also intended to return to the palace, but before leaving, Bai Xilie said, "Marquis Wan, Prime Minister Wen mentioned he’s facing some difficulties lately. He asked you to go to Mingzheng Hall to assist him. Go check it out and report back to me."
Feng Fuce slightly furrowed his brow and turned to look at Bai Zhi’er, who nodded at him.
"Alright." He finally responded.
Then, Feng Fuce left Xie Yu’s side without giving him a second glance.
Though Xie Yu was the emperor of Yan Country, Mo Yanchi had arranged for him to stay in the same mansion, which saved Bai Xilie the trouble of specially arranging accommodations for Xie Yu.
The carriage ride back to the palace was silent for the three family members.
Bai Xilie remained silent, entirely because he had drunk a fair amount of peach blossom wine, and was slightly tipsy.
Jing Jia, sitting in the middle, glanced at her daughter.
Bai Zhi’er, looking out the window, propped her chin with her hand, appeared somewhat worried.
Today, she had planned to confess her feelings for Feng Fuce to her father and mother.
But unexpectedly, Xie Yu appeared.
Suddenly, Jing Jia spoke, "Zhi’er, you seem to be acquainted with this Xie Yu from the past?"
Bai Zhi’er snapped out of her thoughts, chuckled awkwardly, and saw Bai Xilie also turning to look at her.
The young girl explained, "I didn’t know him before, he’s just very familiar and friendly, a bit too lively."
The successive word choices seemed like a subtle complaint, causing Bai Xilie to laugh out loud.
"It seems our Zhi’er doesn’t fancy this Xie Yu boy at all! That’s great, I was worried Zhi’er might take a liking to him and agree to marry into Yan Country!"
Bai Zhi’er immediately said, "I don’t like him at all!"
"Good! That’s the right attitude! Then I don’t have to find ways to separate you two. Ahem, I mean, find ways to make him face reality."
As Bai Xilie finished, he added, "During the meal, Xie Yu kept his gaze fixed on our Zhi’er. Fortunately, Marquis Wan was there, they are evenly matched, but in martial arts, Marquis Wan certainly has the upper hand."
"To prevent Xie Yu from bothering you privately, I’ve decided that Marquis Wan should protect you closely, what do you think?"
Bai Zhi’er’s eyes lit up, just as she was about to agree.
Jing Jia interjected, "No!"
Father and daughter looked at her at the same time.
"Our Zhi’er is already past the coming of age ceremony, it’s the age to discuss marriage, and Marquis Wan is in his prime. Letting him closely guard Zhi’er would only cause rumors."
Jing Jia held Bai Zhi’er’s hand, "No one needs to personally protect Zhi’er, just keep a close watch on Xie Yu, and nothing should go wrong."
"But mother..." Bai Zhi’er seemed to have something to say.
Jing Jia squeezed her hand, "Listen to your mother first."
Thus, Bai Zhi’er had to concede.
Since Jing Jia suggested it, Bai Xilie would not object.
That day, four of the Emperor’s Hidden Guards were stationed near Mo Yanchi’s residence.
Feng Fuce went to the Mingzheng Hall where Prime Minister Wen worked.
Upon entering, he found many officials standing inside, most of them government officials from the capital area.
"The Marquis has arrived!" someone announced.
Prime Minister Wen lifted his head from the crowd, looking as if he had seen a savior.
"Marquis, you’re finally here. I have something I urgently need your help with, I’m truly out of ideas."
Feng Fuce asked indifferently, "What is it?"
"The daughter of Minister of Revenue, Lord Guan, went missing four days ago."
