"I told you I’d be back by tonight at the latest. Why were you waiting for me in the living room last night, you silly girl?"

Chen Mo smiled dotingly and gently patted Su Yuqing’s back. "Don’t worry. I won’t let anything happen to me, and I won’t leave you."

Compared to cheesy pickup lines, sweet nothings spoken unintentionally could often land with the force of a critical hit.

To Su Yuqing, Chen Mo’s words were exactly that—a massive critical hit.

It was tantamount to a promise between lovers.

The words sounded so sweet and warm to Su Yuqing’s ears.

Her heart, which had been in a panic all night, was instantly calmed by his words.

A single "I won’t leave you" was worth more than any promise of eternity.

Su Yuqing nodded with a sweet smile and finally loosened her embrace.

"Alright, go wash up and get ready for breakfast."

Chen Mo reluctantly pulled away from her soft warmth and stood up with a smile.

Soon, Su Yuqing finished washing up in her room and came back out.

Wearing a white dress, she looked exceptionally pure and elegant.

After a wonderful breakfast, the two started studying together again.

Whenever Su Yuqing came across something she didn’t understand, Chen Mo would patiently teach her.

Every time Chen Mo was teaching, his focused expression would leave Su Yuqing completely mesmerized.

At times like this, Chen Mo had a unique kind of charm.

When the person you like is by your side, studying with you and teaching you, it’s almost impossible for your grades not to improve.

Every minute and second of their study time, dopamine flooded her system, and a wave of happiness and joy washed over Su Yuqing’s mind.

She became so absorbed in her studies that she lost all track of time.

The two spent the entire Sunday studying.

In between, Chen Mo also had Su Yuqing do some exercises to stretch her limbs.

By alternating between activity and rest, they could study all day without feeling sore or stiff.

In fact, they felt they could have kept going, as both their bodies and minds were in a highly active state.

If she continued studying with this level of focus and efficiency, Su Yuqing felt her grades would definitely make a huge leap before the college entrance exams.

"Alright, we’ve been studying all day. It’s time to give our brains a rest. We still have school tomorrow."

Chen Mo checked the time—it was already eight in the evening—and called a halt to their study session.

Sometimes, you need a balance between work and rest.

The two watched a movie together for a while.

The movie was a story about redemption through time travel.

The protagonist repeatedly traveled through time, trying his best to prevent a murder, but the crime always occurred as destined.

As Chen Mo watched the movie, his heart remained perfectly calm.

If this had been in the past, he probably would have started making connections and worrying again.

But now, he had let go, and that was that.

’Cherishing the girl beside me is my main priority now, not being trapped by obsessions of the past.’

Chen Mo gently scooted a little closer to Su Yuqing, until they were almost touching.

Chen Mo discreetly glanced at the girl beside him. She was focused on the movie and didn’t seem to have much of a reaction.

This made his hands itch. He so badly wanted to pull her into his arms.

But it remained just a thought; in the end, he didn’t reach out.

After the movie, they watched a variety show. Su Yuqing found it so funny that she couldn’t stop laughing, at one point even collapsing into Chen Mo’s arms. Chen Mo seized the opportunity to wrap an arm around her and gently stroke her back.

As they kept watching, Su Yuqing didn’t even realize when she had snuggled into Chen Mo’s embrace, held securely by his arm.

But she didn’t mind. After they finished watching TV, they said goodnight to each other and quietly went back to their own rooms to rest.

It wasn’t until she was back in her room that Su Yuqing noticed her heart was pounding like a drum.

The feeling of being held by Chen Mo had been so comforting. Her blood raced along with her heartbeat, and her whole face flushed a rosy red.

After washing up and calming down, Su Yuqing lay in bed in her pajamas, a sweet smile on her face as she replayed the day’s events in her mind.

To her, the time they spent together didn’t need any dramatic, unforgettable experiences. The simple, ordinary moments were already the most wonderful times of all.

With a contented smile, she quietly drifted off to sleep.

As for Chen Mo, he also slept exceptionally well that night.

He slept dreamlessly through the night and woke up the next day feeling refreshed and full of energy.

The next morning, when Su Yuqing saw Chen Mo, she noticed a change in him.

But Su Yuqing couldn’t quite put her finger on what had changed.

She just felt that much of his exhaustion was gone—not a physical fatigue, but a mental one.

Before, whenever she saw Chen Mo in the morning, he would always greet her with a smile.

But his smile had always seemed to hide a deeper, different kind of emotion.

That was gone now. Chen Mo’s smile was pure, and his mental state seemed much better than before.

Su Yuqing didn’t know what had happened to Chen Mo, but she knew that his condition had improved, and that was a good thing.

Nothing else mattered.

Perhaps because she was happy about Chen Mo’s transformation, Su Yuqing’s mood was also exceptionally good that day.

For the next week, Su Yuqing threw herself into a highly efficient study routine.

Her grades improved by leaps and bounds, even though she hadn’t taken an exam yet.

She was scoring quite well on the practice tests Chen Mo had picked out for her.

When studying becomes a pleasant activity for both body and mind, one’s motivation and efficiency can reach unimaginable heights.

Only those who have experienced it can understand its wonders.

After a week of intense studying, Chen Mo noticed how much energy Su Yuqing was pouring into her work. Worried she would burn herself out, he asked her to go out with him on Saturday to take a break and relax.

"You mentioned you haven’t been to an amusement park much. Let’s go to one. I hear the haunted house there is pretty fun. Yuanyuan, you guys should come along too," Chen Mo said with a smile to the group during Friday’s evening study session.

When a guy invites a girl to a haunted house, it’s usually a case of having ulterior motives.

Everyone who knows, knows what he’s really after.

If the girl understands his intentions and likes him back, a haunted house provides the perfect, non-awkward, and perfectly justifiable environment for some close physical contact.

Hearing Chen Mo suggest the haunted house, Su Yuqing couldn’t help but shoot him a look.

Even if she hadn’t been on many such attractions, she’d seen and heard enough about them.

She knew what going to a place like that was really for.

Some people might go just for the thrill, but for others, it has a completely different meaning.

But Su Yuqing didn’t say anything, simply smiling and agreeing.

When Zhao Yuanyuan heard they were going to a haunted house, she was immediately excited. She was the first type of person: purely in it for the thrill.
