On a Stormy Night, the Campus Belle Knocked on My Door Seeking Shelter
Chapter 313: Wrong Dorm Room?
Sunlight glinted off the glass windows of the building across from them.
He quickly located the fifth floor of Building A and found the balcony for Room 503. The reason he was sure it was 503 was that he saw Su Yuqing.
From the looks of it, Su Yuqing had just gotten upstairs.
He had ignored the line, carrying his suitcase and practically flying up to the fifth floor. Su Yuqing didn’t have that kind of stamina.
She had dutifully queued with the crowd to take the elevator up, so she was naturally much slower than Chen Mo.
"Hehe, the girls’ dorm is right across from us. This is gonna be awesome." Wang Lan’s voice sounded from beside Chen Mo.
"What’s so awesome about it?" Li Zhe didn’t get it. "It’s not like they’re going to walk out onto the balcony naked. It’s no different from seeing them on the street."
"Pfft, you perv! What’s so good about seeing them naked? If they were actually naked, I wouldn’t even want to look," Wang Lan said, putting on a brazenly righteous act.
"Then what’s so awesome?" Li Zhe was even more confused.
"Haven’t you heard? Girls like to go braless in their dorms. If one of them happens to wander out onto the balcony, the sight would be just too beautiful. A braless girl, that now-you-see-it, now-you-don’t feeling through her clothes—that’s the best part. Going completely naked has no class!" Wang Lan’s face immediately took on a look of rapture as he spoke, lost in his own fantasy.
"Look at their balconies. They all have curtains. It won’t be that easy for you to see anything," Chen Mo said with a speechless laugh.
"There are always a few who slip through the cracks. It’s still better than opening your window to a bunch of shirtless dudes," Wang Lan said with a sly chuckle.
While the three of them were talking, the dorm room door suddenly opened. A refined, gentle fragrance was the first thing to drift in. It wasn’t the strong, pungent smell of perfume, but more like the scent of some high-end shampoo mixed with a faint hint of face powder.
In a men’s dorm building filled with the smell of sweat and new plastic, this fragrance was particularly jarring, instantly drawing the gazes of Chen Mo, Wang Lan, and Li Zhe.
The newcomer was slender and tall, dressed in a well-tailored, cream-colored casual shirt, light blue jeans, and clean white shoes.
The most eye-catching thing was that this person had soft, shoulder-length black hair with slightly curled ends, all impeccably styled.
His skin was fair and delicate, almost like a woman’s. His features were so exquisite they looked as if they’d been meticulously carved—elegant eyebrows, a straight nose, a pair of slightly upturned "peach blossom eyes," long, thick eyelashes, and lips the color of natural cherry blossoms.
Standing there, he seemed to have his own built-in soft-focus filter. At first glance, he was the spitting image of an aloof, stunningly beautiful girl.
Li Zhe was stunned, his mouth slightly agape, his eyes filled with incredulous shock.
Wang Lan even subconsciously rubbed his eyes to make sure he wasn’t seeing things.
Chen Mo was also momentarily dazed, but his sharp observational skills, honed by years as an old detective, immediately caught the key details: although the person’s Adam’s apple wasn’t as prominent as some men’s, it was still slightly noticeable. The width of his shoulders and the proportions of his frame also faintly betrayed male characteristics.
Most importantly, the gaze he directed at them was from the composed, calm perspective of a man, without a trace of a woman’s shyness or evasion.
Just as the words "Holy shit! Wrong room? This is the men’s dorm!" were about to burst from Wang Lan’s lips, the person at the door spoke.
"Hello, I’m Shen Xinghe. I’m in the eight-year clinical medicine program. I look forward to getting to know you all." The newcomer’s voice was clear but androgynous, with a lazy, magnetic quality to it. It was very pleasant to listen to, but it was unmistakably a man’s voice.
"Huh?!" Wang Lan’s jaw nearly hit the floor. He managed to choke back his "Holy shit," which turned into a single, questioning syllable.
Li Zhe also let out a visible sigh of relief, but his eyes behind his glasses were still filled with amazement. He subconsciously pushed his glasses up.
Shen Xinghe seemed accustomed to their reactions. There was no embarrassment or displeasure on his face; instead, he wore a faint, almost playful smile.
He calmly walked in, pulling an expensive-looking silver metallic suitcase and carrying a stylish messenger bag over his shoulder.
"There was some traffic, so I’m a little late. Looks like there’s only one bunk left." His gaze swept over the remaining top bunk, the one on the right side of the balcony, next to the bathroom. He frowned slightly but didn’t say anything.
His movements and posture were elegant and fluid, giving the impression that he had undergone professional poise training.
"Uh... hi, hi! I’m Wang Lan, from the Northeast!" Wang Lan finally snapped out of it and quickly took a step forward, about to enthusiastically extend his hand. But the moment he looked at Shen Xinghe, he felt the kind of nervousness one feels when facing a drop-dead gorgeous girl, so much so that he found it difficult to offer the hand he would normally extend so freely.
His eyes couldn’t help but linger on Shen Xinghe’s face for an extra couple of seconds, filled with unconcealed curiosity.
"Li Zhe, Su Province." Li Zhe had also regained his composure and gave a polite nod.
"Chen Mo, Jiang Province," Chen Mo also introduced himself simply, his tone calm.
He noticed that Shen Xinghe’s hands were long and slender with well-defined knuckles—very handsome hands, perfect for either performing surgery as a doctor or playing the piano as a musician.
"What a coincidence, I’m from Jiang Province too. I’m from Tai City in Jiang Province. And you?" Shen Xinghe asked, looking at Chen Mo with a smile.
"I’m from Bin City. I’ve been to Tai City before. Bikong Island in your city is a really nice place." Thinking back to his time on Bikong Island, Chen Mo felt a wave of nostalgia.
"That’s our city’s signature attraction. It gets a ton of tourists every year." Just like that, Shen Xinghe and Chen Mo became much more familiar with each other.
Watching the two handsome guys chatting amicably, the remaining Wang Lan and Li Zhe suddenly felt as if their own lights had dimmed a little.
"We’re roommates from now on. Let’s get along." As if sensing the dejection of his other two roommates, Shen Xinghe immediately smiled and nodded at all three of them. His smile was just right—not overly enthusiastic, nor distant.
He walked over to his empty bunk and put down his luggage.
As he bent down, a lock of his long hair fell forward over his shoulder. He naturally tucked it behind his ear with his fingers, the movement possessing an effortless beauty.
"Shen... Xinghe, man." Wang Lan scratched his head, unable to contain his curiosity. He pointed at Shen Xinghe’s hair. "Your hair... it’s so long, and you take such good care of it! Is it real or a wig?"
He tried to mask his surprise with a blunt compliment.
Hearing this, Shen Xinghe gently smoothed his long hair and explained in a flat tone, "It’s real. I need it for work, so I just grew it out. Besides, wearing wigs all the time is bad for your scalp."
He paused, then, as if feeling he needed to say more to avoid any misunderstanding, he added, "Yeah, I occasionally take on some commercial gigs and photoshoots that require me to appear in women’s clothing. It’s a side job."
