On a Stormy Night, the Campus Belle Knocked on My Door Seeking Shelter
Chapter 326: Got a Job as Soon as School Started
Shen Xinghe’s expression didn’t change much after hearing Qin Xue’s invitation. After a moment of consideration, he said, "Thank you for the recognition, President. Creating promotional material for the university is a good thing. If my schedule allows, I can participate."
His tone was level. He was neither overly flattered nor deliberately coy, striking just the right balance.
A flicker of admiration crossed Qin Xue’s eyes. She seemed quite pleased with his attitude.
She nodded, her tone as steady and professional as ever. "Alright. Once the specific time and plan for the shoot are confirmed, I’ll have someone from the Publicity Department contact you. Would it be alright to add you on JuXin? It’ll make communication easier."
"Of course." Shen Xinghe took out his phone, and the two quickly scanned each other’s codes to become friends.
Qin Xue then quickly pulled a well-made contact card from her folder and handed it to him. "This has the contact information for the Student Council’s Publicity Department and a preliminary concept proposal. They’ll contact you directly to coordinate the specific time, theme, and details of the shoot. Of course, if you have any ideas or requests, you can also message me directly on JuXin. If I’m busy, I might be slow to reply. In that case, you can also use the contacts on this card to give feedback."
"Understood. I’ll take a look when I have a moment." Shen Xinghe accepted the card with both hands, his movements graceful and proper.
Just as Qin Xue was about to turn and leave, her gaze fell on Chen Mo, who was standing off to the side.
This time, her inspection was more detailed than before. Her eyes quickly scanned everything from Chen Mo’s straight posture and handsome features to his calm, composed aura.
She suddenly spoke, her tone holding a barely perceptible hint of inquiry that hadn’t been there when she spoke to Shen Xinghe. "And you are...?"
"Chen Mo. First-year, eight-year clinical medicine program," Chen Mo introduced himself, his demeanor natural.
Qin Xue nodded, her eyes showing clear admiration. "Chen Mo, your looks and presence are also outstanding. If you’re interested, would you also be willing to participate in our promotional shoot? The university hopes to showcase the diverse and exceptional faces of our new generation of students."
After she finished, her eyes lingered on Chen Mo for a few more seconds.
Chen Mo hadn’t expected to be singled out for an invitation. He gave a faint smile and replied politely, "Thank you for the invitation, President. But I don’t have any modeling experience, so I’m probably not the right fit."
"That’s fine. We’ll have someone to guide you during the shoot. Just acting naturally is enough." Qin Xue offered a rare smile, glancing between the two of them. "You and Shen Xinghe standing together would make for a great shot. Think of it as a unique experience, and a way to contribute to the university."
Chen Mo glanced at Shen Xinghe, who gave him an almost imperceptible nod. He no longer refused. "Alright, then. If the timing works out, I can participate."
"Great. Let’s add each other on JuXin, too. I’ll make a note for both of you." Qin Xue was all business. Once she had their confirmation, she wasted no more words. After adding Chen Mo on JuXin, she gave them a slight nod. "I’ll let you get back to exploring the campus. I’ll be in touch on JuXin with the arrangements."
With that, she turned sharply and strode away with the student council members who had been waiting nearby. The sound of her high heels clicking on the pavement faded into the distance, but her powerful, professional aura seemed to linger in the air.
Chen Mo and Shen Xinghe watched her retreating figure for a moment before looking away.
"I didn’t expect we’d already have a gig on our second day of school," Chen Mo said with a hint of teasing as he looked at Shen Xinghe.
The corners of Shen Xinghe’s mouth lifted slightly as he put his phone away. "I’d heard before I even came to this school that President Qin Xue is known for her sharp eye and her obsession with efficiency. The fact that she noticed you means that your face and physique are definitely captivating."
"Captivating?"
"Meaning you look particularly striking, especially photogenic," Shen Xinghe explained, making a rare joke. He then added, "But she’s very serious about her work and has high standards. The shoot probably won’t be a walk in the park."
"Doesn’t matter. It’ll be a good experience," Chen Mo said, unconcerned.
He used to be the star of the police force, not to mention its poster boy. He was constantly being roped into shooting all sorts of promotional photos. Saying he had no modeling experience was just him being modest.
He was all too familiar with how to pose for a camera.
As they spoke, Chen Mo’s gaze drifted past the library’s tall glass curtain wall. He suddenly remembered that Su Yuqing had mentioned she was planning to come to the top floor of the library with her roommates today to enjoy the view.
’I wonder if they’re still here?’
The thought had barely crossed his mind when his JuXin chimed with a notification.
He took it out and saw it was a message from Su Yuqing.
"Chen Mo, the view from the top floor of the library is amazing! What do you think of this picture I took? Where are you and your roommate now? You have to come see." The message was followed by an excited emoji.
Chen Mo smiled and replied, "Just got to the first floor of the library. We ran into the Student Council President and chatted for a bit. We’ll head up to take a look soon. How come you guys only just got to the library?"
"We got here a while ago! We were just exploring the lower floors and only just made it to the top."
"Oh, I see."
Almost the instant he sent his message, Su Yuqing replied, "Hurry up and come to the top floor! It’s gorgeous!"
"Okay, on our way up."
After sending the message, Chen Mo looked up at Shen Xinghe. "Yuqing and her friends are on the top floor. She says the view is great. Should we go up and take a look?"
"Sure," Shen Xinghe agreed with a nod.
The two took an elevator straight to the observation deck on the top floor.
The moment the elevator doors opened, an expansive view and bright sunlight flooded in.
The top floor was designed as a massive observation deck, surrounded by transparent glass railings that offered a panoramic view of the university town’s entire new district.
A light breeze swept by, bringing with it a refreshing coolness that cut through the late summer heat.
Su Yuqing and her roommates were leaning against the railing on the far side, pointing at something in the distance as they talked. Their clear, pleasant laughter drifted over.
Chen Mo and Shen Xinghe had just stepped out of the elevator when Su Yuqing turned around as if she had a sixth sense. Her face lit up the moment she saw him, and she hurried over. "You’re here!"
"Where are the others? Just the two of you?" Zhou Yue asked, glancing at Chen Mo and Shen Xinghe.
"Those two lazy bums went back to the dorm to crash," Chen Mo said with a good-natured laugh.
"I bet you two turned heads everywhere you went," Lin Xiaoxiao said with a fujoshi’s knowing smile, her eyes on Chen Mo and Shen Xinghe. Standing side by side, their looks and auras were a perfect match.
’Anyone who didn’t know better would definitely mistake them for a handsome couple.’
The very thought of it made Lin Xiaoxiao shiver with excitement.
Chen Mo and Shen Xinghe exchanged a look and simply smiled, saying nothing.
Zhao Ya merely glanced at Shen Xinghe and gave a slight nod in greeting, which he returned in kind.
Just as they were speaking, Su Yuqing’s gaze drifted past Chen Mo’s shoulder, landing on someone who was just stepping out of another elevator.
