Chapter 1450 Anomaly

Igor looked coldly at the people surrounding him, with disdain in his eyes.

Among these people, there were Mantai and Kayne, holding weapons, enclosing Igor tightly.

"It's my fault, kind man, it's my fault!"

The old beggar wailed in grief, seemingly feeling he had done something he couldn't forgive himself for to Igor.

What on earth was going on? Amoon and Douglas were shocked, the sudden noise drawing them out of the tavern.

Though the Spirit Vision was broad, it couldn't fully discern what was happening, as they couldn't hear any sound!

Igor stood there with no fear on his face, as if all this was within his expectations.

"Don't blame yourself, it's not your fault. To them, I'm an invader." Igor said to the old beggar. In an instant, he understood what was happening, though he hadn't expected his opponents to move so swiftly.

The old beggar stared blankly at the young man, suddenly feeling that he was a savior, a messiah descending from the sky.

The people surrounding Igor were diverse, from Mantai and Vero, but their movements were uniform, as if specially trained.

Igor could see no emotion on them, which was quite normal, as all their emotions had been stripped away.

It seemed the place had been overtaken by Soul Devourers, and Igor could feel that these were low-level Soul Devourers. This feeling was akin to the Border Realm, and there was surely a commander behind these low-level Soul Devourers.

Igor knew that these Soul Devourers, the low-level ones, were mere cannon fodder, and the manipulators behind them were what truly mattered.

For anyone else, they would be terrified by being surrounded by so many. This was a dreadful predicament; how could one break through? It was a very tricky problem.

However, Igor didn't see this as significant, knowing the Soul Devourers from fighting them for so long. These low-level Soul Devourers were no match to prevent Igor.

Douglas and Amoon, seeing the situation, were anxious and wanted to help. But just as they prepared to act, a book suddenly climbed to their feet.

The book's movements were quite clumsy, as if it was its first time doing such a thing.

Douglas, quick of eye and hand, grabbed the book. He recognized it: Igor's Spirit Book.

"What, you want to abandon your master?"

"Don't talk nonsense!" The Spirit Book was not polite at all, annoyed by Douglas's words.

"Then why did you come out!" Amoon immediately asked, knowing there was no time to waste with the Spirit Book.

"Igor asked me to tell both of you—uh, he just wanted me to tell you both not to worry about him, everything is under his control." The Spirit Book couldn't bring itself to call them "seniors." It felt its history was far longer, not needing to refer to them as such…

"Is he joking?" Amoon was puzzled; how could this situation be under control?

"You know Igor; he rarely jokes. Even if he tells a joke, it's usually a cold one, haha." The Spirit Book was in high spirits, seemingly never felt such a way before.

"I think we should trust Igor. With so many people, it won't be easy for us to get through. Besides, we've never been surrounded by these rabble!" Douglas said.

This comment reminded Amoon. They came with Igor; everyone saw that when entering the city. But now Igor was surrounded, and they were safe. It didn't make much sense.

What was happening here was bizarre, though not obviously so, but quite apparent to Amoon and Douglas.

So, they heeded the Spirit Book's advice, remained still, and watched Igor.

Igor was at ease, arranging the old beggar behind him, showing no tension in the presence of such a rabble.

The people surrounding him said nothing, as if all awaited a command.

"Your puppet master hasn't appeared yet? Why do you like hiding behind the scenes so much?" Igor said with a smile, unfazed by being surrounded by them.

He was gathering energy, with the Defense Shield on him continuously rotating. The Spirit Power defense was, after all, an energy manipulation with significant deterrence against these Soul Devourers.

Igor stepped forward, and the rabble stepped back.

This scene astonished Douglas and Amoon.

Why didn't the surrounding people dare to attack? Did Igor have a bomb?

"Haha, they truly are a motley crew!" The Spirit Book couldn't help commenting, having seen many such situations.

"Even a motley crew has a numbers advantage. Why do these people fear Igor?" Amoon said, his focus entirely on Igor, ignoring many other details.

"Perhaps, you should carefully examine this bunch, who no longer qualify as people." Douglas shrugged, signaling Amoon to take a closer look.

Only then did Amoon notice his surroundings, and upon careful observation, he suddenly saw how mechanical and emotionally barren these people were, as if driven by simple command to breathe.

"Their Spirit Power all has the same taste, this is too strange."

"Strange things have always been there; we just didn't look closely." Amoon sighed, feeling he was too careless, having overlooked something so simple.

Actually, like Igor, they didn't initially consider the main reason. They were misled by appearances, always thinking Romanvis was a straightforward place. The sudden complexity must have a reason, never thinking the complex reason was something they already knew.

The Vero Realm had already fallen.

The queen here was dethroned, the nobles long fled elsewhere.

The Gaoju Family had occupied Vero, a facade, knowing full well what power was behind it all.

They couldn't have imagined this power spreading its influence to places like Romanvis.
