Chapter 1047: Chapter 1047: Your Defeat Is Certain!
"Damn witch! Stand and fight, if you have the guts!"
Blood Forest!
A sharp, shrill cry pierced the air, and several long, blood-red whips lashed out from the swirling dust, snapping toward Catarina Devon with terrifying speed.
"Oh, no!"
Catarina’s expression shifted, and she scrambled to turn around.
"Deco-Deco Beam!"
Malha acted first. He raised a finger and pointed forward, unleashing a streak of green light. With a casual flick, the beam sliced the blood-red whips in half, causing them to dissipate into nothingness in mid-air.
Seeing this, Catarina breathed a sigh of relief, wiping the blood from the corner of her mouth and the sweat from her brow with a frantic gesture.
Whoosh—
A violent gust of wind tore through the area as the dust settled. Mina emerged through a massive hole in the building, coming face-to-face with Malha.
"So, it was you pulling the strings behind the scenes!"
Mina’s pupils contracted, her lovely face darkening with grave intensity. "I thought you’d learned your lesson after that crushing defeat last time and would keep your head down. I never expected you’d still be up to such underhanded, filthy tricks!"
Truth be told, from the involvement of Daren, that remnant of the Dasco royal family, to the interference of the World Government, Mina never once suspected that someone like Malha would be involved.
Malha opened his mouth to retort, but the mention of that past failure struck a raw nerve. The composure on his face stiffened visibly. The incident in the Bivins Kingdom was, without question, his greatest setback.
He had lost his most capable lieutenant in battle, and he himself had lost an arm. In the aftermath, his vast criminal empire had been systematically obliterated by the Chris Pirates, like a thunderstorm clearing a field. The World Government had deemed him useless, nearly abandoning him, or worse, hunting him down.
Every time he thought about it, his mechanical right arm, the replacement for the one he’d lost, would ache with a phantom pain.
Suddenly, one figure after another emerged: squad-level officers, combatants, followed by biological weapons like the ’Dragonians’ and super-soldiers from the Elite Strike Team, swarming the area in a chaotic rush.
"Damn it, that guy’s archery is no joke. I almost died on the business end of those arrows," Gorbo grunted. He was hauling a battered and bruised Obes in one hand. Blood stained his chin, and a pitch-black steel arrow was driven completely through his left shoulder. It was clear that taking down the remnants of the Demon Mask Pirates had cost Gorbo dearly.
"Look who it is... The Roamer, Crimson Malha! I never expected to find you in the middle of all this..." Otto stared down Malha, his face twisted into a ferocious scowl. "This time, I’m going to rip your head off and present it to the Captain as a gift!"
"So that’s Malha? And he’s got a fish-man bodyguard, too," Gin remarked, eyeing Malha and Tudor with curiosity.
"Gorbo, ’Orc’ Otto, ’Man-Demon’ Gin... and the Mink ’Ruler of the Night,’ Nekomamushi..." Malha scanned the lineup before him, his expression locking into a mask of pure, rigid horror.
Beside him, the fish-man Tudor looked as though he’d seen a ghost; his muscles coiled tight, his eyes darting nervously across the group of ten.
Four senior officers and seven commander-level officers, these ten were the absolute core of the Chris Pirates’ combat power. The count was ten because Oliver served as both the Combat Commander, a senior officer, and the Commander of the First Division.
(Note: The 4 senior/high-level Officers are: Enel, Arlan, Oliver, and Zephyr. While the 7 Commanders are: Gorbo, Dimitri, Backan, Otto, Abel, Betilla, and Oliver)
Malha knew he could potentially defeat any one of the Chris Pirates’ commanders, excluding Oliver, but he had zero confidence in facing two of them at once. And yet, here he was, staring down the commanders of the Second and Fifth Divisions simultaneously.
"Dammit... how did it come to this?"
Malha’s face was deathly pale. The plan had been flawless. Why were there so many variables?
RUMBLE—!
The earth groaned and buckled. A scorching, turbulent wave of pressure swept outward like a hurricane, scouring everything within a thousand-meter radius. In the distance, the red dragon and the ancient beast continued their insane, titanic struggle.
...
Inside the Mirror World...
Haa... haa... haa... Haa... haa... haa...
Aeridar and Charlotte Linlin stood more than twenty meters apart, gasping for breath. Both were covered in wounds. The difference was that the injuries on Aeridar’s body were slowly closing, while Charlotte Linlin’s wounds continued to bleed profusely.
"Your defeat is certain!"
Aeridar lifted his head, his eyes burning with lethal intent. The four words were delivered with ironclad conviction.
"Don’t get cocky! We’ll see who’s left standing!"
Charlotte Linlin glared at him, her face twisted in a mask of hysterical rage and madness.
"Zhurong!"
"Prometheus!"
They both shouted in unison.
High above, the giant of flame and the mini-sun-like fireball shrank rapidly, plummeting down to hover beside their respective masters.
"Universal Law: Fire Demon God!!!"
Aeridar roared. A shimmering luster flashed over his metallic, pitch-black physique, making his Armament Haki harden to an even more impenetrable density.
Suddenly, Zhurong’s flaming body became incredibly hot and violent, lunging toward Aeridar and molding itself into angular, spiked plate armor. He now looked like a Fire God descended upon the mortal realm. Heat radiated from his body, warping the very air around him.
Simultaneously, Prometheus merged with Charlotte Linlin’s hair, igniting into a ferocious inferno. A twisted, malicious grin formed on the flames, giving her the appearance of a demon of fire.
"Cognac: Mama-Mash!!!"
With eyes bloodshot and a face like a vengeful spirit, Charlotte Linlin struck first. She swung her burning giant blade, lunging forward to bring it crashing down on Aeridar.
BOOM—!
A turbulent ring of fire exploded within the Mirror World, sweeping outward and turning the earth beneath them into scorched, molten wasteland.
Aeridar vaulted into the sky and thrust a fist downward.
"Impact: Morning Peacock!!!"
Countless fist shadows materialized, erupting into a barrage of explosive fireballs that rained down like a storm of artillery shells.
BOOM-BOOM-BOOM-BOOM...
In an instant, the impact fireballs cratered the earth like heavy mortar fire, sending debris flying. The sky and land of the Mirror World were transformed into a raging sea of destruction.
"Die!"
Charlotte Linlin soared upward, riding the thundercloud Zeus, and closed the distance to Aeridar in a heartbeat.
CLANG—!
The burning blade descended, but Aeridar caught the edge of the sword with his bare hand.
Immediately, both of them threw a punch at each other’s chests.
"Flame Impact Fist!!!"
"Flame Mama-Fist!!!"
BOOM—!
Their fists connected with each other’s chests simultaneously. Both were sent flying backward, coughing up blood. The explosion of their combined power unleashed a tidal wave of fire, rippling outward in a massive ring and, accompanied by a blistering heatwave, swept across half the sky of the Mirror World in an instant.
