One Piece : I Became a Monster Just by Eating

Chapter 43 Major Mouse Pays a Visit

  • Next Chapter

After Smoker’s orders were issued, although the various Marine Bases were resentful of the task, they still followed the command and dispatched patrol ships to conduct searches within their respective jurisdictions.

Three days later—

While Kaguya and Nami were training in the tangerine orchard, Nojiko suddenly flew back from outside.

Upon landing, Nojiko immediately transformed back into her human form.

“Kaguya!

Marines are coming, they might be investigating that treasure!”

Kaguya stopped swinging his sword, and Nami also put down her barbell.

“Marines?”

“It’s fine.

Take Moomoo and the dragon soaring ten thousand miles and leave Cocoyasi Village.

I’ll contact you once the Marines have left.”

Kaguya said very calmly.

He wasn’t afraid of the Marines finding anything at all.

Moreover, he had been observing the Marines’ movements these past few days and knew very well that they were mostly just putting on a show.

“Alright, I’ll take the dragon soaring ten thousand miles and leave now.”

Nojiko transformed back into a Pteranodon and flew toward the dragon soaring ten thousand miles.

Seeing the monster flying overhead, the villagers of Cocoyasi Village hid in their homes in terror.

“Kaguya, are you really sure the Marines won’t find anything?”

Nami wiped the sweat from her forehead, still somewhat worried.

“Don’t worry, Nojiko has already left with the ship.

Even if the Marines search the entire village, they won’t find any clues.”

Since the Marines were arriving soon, the two didn’t plan to continue training.

Kaguya hid the massive barbell in the nearby forest and also hid the other training equipment from the house.

From now on, they were just ordinary villagers.

Meanwhile, on a warship approaching Cocoyasi Village, Major Mouse had a cunning and wicked smirk on his face.

“How much treasure have we ‘recovered’ today?”

The Adjutant beside him replied with a similar wicked grin, “Reporting to the Major, we’ve recovered seven million Berries today.

So far, we’ve recovered a total of forty-five million Berries.”

“Good.

Where are we headed next?”

“Reporting to the Major, it’s the Conomi Islands.”

“The Conomi Islands?

Isn’t that the area ruled by that Fishman, Arlong?”

“Yes, Major.”

“It seems that fellow Arlong hasn’t paid this year’s protection money yet.

It’s the perfect time to collect the protection money along with everything else.”

“Chichi-chichi.”

At the thought of the vast wealth he was about to acquire, Major Mouse’s smile grew even more sinister.

He narrowed his small, beady eyes, calculating how to squeeze even more profit out of Arlong.

“Pass down the order: full speed ahead!”

Major Mouse waved his hand, and the soldiers on the warship immediately became busy.

The sea wind howled as the warship cut through the waves, racing toward the Conomi Islands.

Meanwhile, the villagers of Cocoyasi Village had stepped out of their homes again.

After all, since the monster hadn’t stayed in the village, everyone guessed it was just passing through.

Kaguya and Nami sat in the shade of the tangerine orchard, leisurely drinking juice.

“Kaguya, we’ve already left the nearby waters.”

“Good, just wait there for my news.

By my calculations, those Marines should be arriving soon.”

Just as Kaguya finished speaking, Genzo ran in urgently.

“Kaguya, Nami, the Marines are here.

They want everyone to go and gather.”

Kaguya calmly hung up the den den mushi.

“Alright, we’ll head over now.”

“Where’s Nojiko?”

Genzo noticed Nojiko was missing again and asked in confusion.

“She went fishing with Moomoo.

You know how much Moomoo eats.”

Kaguya casually made up an excuse.

“Uh…

fine, then you two better follow me quickly.”

Genzo knew Kaguya was being perfunctory, but he didn’t plan to probe further.

The three arrived at the beach, where the villagers of Cocoyasi Village had already gathered.

“What took you so long!”

A Marine soldier impatiently brandished the rifle in his hand and shouted harshly.

The villagers stood in a line, trembling with fear.

A few timid children hid behind their mothers, peeking at the uninvited guests.

“We live far away, so we were a bit slow.”

Genzo quickly stepped forward to explain.

The Marine soldier wanted to scold them further, but he was stopped by Major Mouse’s Adjutant.

“You should have heard about the recent theft from the Goa Kingdom’s treasury.

We have received orders from our superiors to search for suspicious individuals.

Has anyone suspicious come to your village recently?”

The villagers all shook their heads.

This wasn’t a lie; Kaguya had been in Cocoyasi Village for a long time, not just recently.

Furthermore, no outsiders had come to the village lately.

“Since you won’t admit it, we’ll just have to search.

If we find any suspicious persons or stolen goods, don’t blame us for being impolite!”

The Adjutant threatened sinisterly.

The villagers looked at each other, but all remained silent.

Kaguya stood in the crowd, watching the Marines with a calm gaze.

He noticed Major Mouse standing on the warship’s deck, greedily scanning the village, clearly calculating something.

Seeing that no one was speaking, the Adjutant waved his hand.

“Search!”

The Marine soldiers immediately dispersed, rudely kicking open the villagers’ doors and ransacking their homes.

Some soldiers even used their bayonets to puncture sacks filled with grain, letting the grain spill all over the ground.

Some people found Berries stored in the villagers’ homes and immediately ran back with them: “Report!

Stolen goods found!”

The villagers were instantly in an uproar, and several elderly people were trembling with rage.

Genzo hurriedly stepped forward to explain.

“Sir, that’s all the hard-earned money we’ve saved up!”

“Shut up!”

The Adjutant kicked Genzo aside and grabbed the money bag with a sneer.

“What hard-earned money!

These are stolen goods.”

Seeing the Adjutant’s greedy face, a hint of coldness flashed in Kaguya’s eyes.

“Heh, so this was your plan all along.

Using the search as an excuse to blatantly rob the villagers of their savings.”

Kaguya sneered and stepped out from the crowd.

He hadn’t wanted to provoke the Marines, but since Major Mouse had come to his door and was so unscrupulously oppressing the villagers, he couldn’t be blamed for being impolite.

“Oh?

What do you think you’re doing, kid?”

The Adjutant narrowed his eyes, his hand already on the flintlock pistol at his waist.

Kaguya didn’t answer.

In the next second, his figure appeared right in front of the Adjutant.

“Since you’re looking for death, don’t blame me!”

Kaguya slammed a punch into the Adjutant’s head.

The Adjutant had no time to react at all; his head was blown apart by Kaguya’s punch.

Major Mouse was instantly horrified!

“Rebellion!

Rebellion!

How dare you kill a Marine officer!

All units, fire!”

All the Marines immediately raised their rifles and aimed them at Kaguya.

Nami immediately activated her Barrier-Barrier Fruit ability to protect the villagers.

“Bang!

Bang!

Bang!”

Gunshots rang out like raindrops, but Kaguya’s figure flickered, easily dodging the bullets.

Those bullets were all blocked by an invisible Barrier a meter away from the villagers.

The Marines searching the village heard the gunshots and immediately ran back with the looted property.

However, as soon as they returned, they saw a terrifying scene.

The beach was covered with the mangled corpses of Marines, and Kaguya was holding a blade against Major Mouse’s chest.

“You can’t kill me!

I’ve already sent someone to notify Arlong!

You if you kill me, the Arlong Pirates will surely kill you and everyone else.”

Major Mouse threatened Kaguya with a look of terror.

“Heh, Arlong?

Don’t you know that the Arlong Pirates were wiped out by me over a year ago?

To think you’re still counting on them to save you.

Since you miss them so much, I’ll send you to see them.”

“What!”

Major Mouse’s eyes widened in despair.

“Don’t kill…

me…”

The long blade pierced his heart, and Major Mouse soon stopped breathing.

By the time Kaguya had dealt with Major Mouse, Nami had also finished off the Marines on the shore, including the ones who had just gone to find the Arlong Pirates.
