Chapter 539: Beach Villages Compass

  • Next Chapter

Dark Crescent Slash!

Leon gathered his power for a brief moment before releasing the skill, sending a massive dark crescent flying toward the warriors charging at them.

The attack swept across the village with incredible speed, cutting through every native caught in its path as though their bodies were nothing more than paper.

The attack then continued forward and tore through several houses behind them.

Wooden walls collapsed, roofs were split apart, and pieces of debris scattered across the village.

Although Leon had intended to eliminate the approaching enemies, the attack had also caused considerable damage to the surrounding buildings.

However, not every warrior had been caught in its path.

A few managed to survive the attack and continued rushing toward Leon and his companions, gripping their weapons tightly as they swung their swords at the intruders.

Leon didn’t bother dodging.

He could have easily killed them with another attack, but he wanted to see what they could actually do against him.

As their weapons struck his body, he simply stood where he was, allowing them to attack without making the slightest attempt to defend himself.

Clang!

One of the warriors even managed to strike Leon directly on the head, yet the result was no different from hitting a solid brick wall with a sword.

His weapon bounced away, and the warrior stared at Leon with wide eyes, unable to understand what had just happened.

"How?!" he shouted, taking an unsteady step backward.

He had put all his strength into that attack, yet he hadn’t even managed to leave a scratch.

Fwoosh!

Before the warrior could say anything else, a wave of frost swept across his body.

Violet had moved her rapier with a casual motion, freezing him completely before he could even attempt to escape.

The warrior’s body was soon covered in a thick layer of ice, and he collapsed to the ground without another sound.

The few remaining warriors finally began to understand the situation they were in.

Their expressions changed as they looked at Leon and the three women standing beside him, realizing that they had encountered opponents far beyond anything they could handle.

"Show me where the other villages are, and I’ll spare you," Leon said coldly as he looked at one of the surviving warriors. "I need to get rid of all your leaders who worship the gods."

He had no intention of showing mercy to anyone connected to the gods, even if their only involvement was worshiping them.

From what he had already learned, the offerings these natives collected and sent to their gods served a much greater purpose than the villagers themselves probably understood.

The elder had mentioned that there were twelve other villages scattered across the island, meaning Leon would have to visit every single one of them.

He didn’t know exactly what each village was responsible for, but considering how the first one operated, he had little doubt that the others were involved in similar activities.

"F-Fool," one of the warriors suddenly said, although his trembling voice made it clear that he was struggling to maintain his courage. "Y-You’ll never find all our villages. Some of them are hidden... even we don’t know where they are!"

SLASH!

Leon didn’t bother listening to the rest.

His sword moved once, and the warrior fell to the ground before he could finish speaking.

The remaining natives immediately became even more frightened, but none of them seemed willing to reveal anything.

They continued looking at Leon with hatred and fear, apparently convinced that keeping the locations of their villages secret was more important than their own lives.

Leon wasn’t particularly interested in changing their minds through conversation.

He killed another warrior, then another, giving each of them the same opportunity to provide the information he wanted.

However, even after roughly a dozen more had fallen, none of them were willing to cooperate.

Eventually, only one warrior remained.

"The g-gods will bless us for this!" he shouted, his face twisted with desperation, "You’ll never find our villages because you need an item to access t-them!"

Leon paused.

’An item?’

Leon opened his inventory and began looking through the items he had obtained from the warriors.

Most of them were ordinary pieces of equipment that were practically worthless to him, and he had already decided to throw them away rather than waste time selling them.

However, something among the elder’s belongings caught his attention.

Since the natives were so far below him in level, killing them had only granted around a thousand experience points each.

It was an insignificant amount compared to what he needed to reach Level 100, but at least their drops had provided something interesting.

[Beach Village Compass (Legendary): Will show the directions of all the villages, only given to the leaders to be able to find their way in this massive island.]

Leon took out the compass and examined it briefly before turning toward the final warrior.

"You mean this?"

He pointed the item at him with a small smile, and the warrior’s eyes widened as soon as he recognized it.

"B-But how...?"

The warrior looked as though he had just seen something impossible.

The item required to locate them was already in his possession.

Swash!

Celeste moved before the warrior could say anything else, sending her spear through his body and killing him instantly.

With that, the last surviving warrior fell, leaving no hostile natives standing in the village.

"Good enough," Leon said, seemingly satisfied with the result.

He glanced at the equipment scattered around the area before deciding to take everything out of his inventory.

He had no use for any of it, and the items were probably far more valuable to the ordinary players living in this domain.

"You guys can take this. It’s useless to me."

The players who had been watching the battle from a distance looked at the equipment in surprise.

At first, they hesitated, unsure whether he was serious or whether there was some kind of condition attached to his offer.

However, after seeing that Leon had no intention of taking the equipment back, a few of them cautiously approached.

Once the first player picked up a piece of equipment, the others quickly followed.

"H-Holy hell, this is way better than what I currently have!"

"Thanks, dude!"

"Seriously, are you giving all of this away?"

The players examined their new equipment with excitement, clearly pleased with what they had received.

Even though the items were practically worthless to Leon, they represented a considerable improvement for people who had been struggling to survive in this domain.

Leon didn’t mind giving them away. He could have probably sold everything through the [Trading House], but he had already established a certain "reputation" for selling amazing level 100 equipment.

He didn’t want to damage that reputation by suddenly filling the market with ordinary items.

Besides, once he entered the [Eternal Battlefield], he would have access to much better equipment and resources.

However, just as the players were finishing collecting their rewards, a woman suddenly raised her hand.

"But..." she began, looking around the destroyed village before turning toward Leon. "Now that they’re dead, how are we supposed to cross the sea? And what about the players who arrive here after us?"

Leon paused, ’Damn, I didn’t think about that.’

He scratched his chin as he considered her question.

The natives had been responsible for providing enchanted boats, which were the only reliable way to travel between the islands without being attacked by the sea monsters.

With the leaders and warriors dead, there was no one left to maintain that system here.

The players currently living on the island might be able to survive here for a while, but they would eventually need to reach other villages or find a way to leave.

Leon could have simply ignored the problem and continued with his own objective.

After all, he hadn’t come here to help these people, and his main purpose was to eliminate the servants of the gods before hunting the Heretic King.

But perhaps there was a way to solve the problem without wasting too much time.

"I’ll try," Leon said, nodding slightly. "These guys mentioned that they enchant the boats, so there should be a place where they do it."

He didn’t necessarily need the natives themselves if the process could be reproduced through the system or another method after all, right?

Leon took out the [Beach Village Compass] and poured some mana into it.

The compass immediately reacted, its surface glowing faintly as several markings appeared around its center.

A moment later, twelve arrows emerged, each pointing in a different direction.

World Map!

And as expected, every village location had now appeared on his [World Map].
