Chapter 289: 289: Feel Bad.

Ayra had decided to sneak off and take her bath. She figured Commander Lynn would follow her if he knew where she was going, so she secretly slipped out, hoping to enjoy her bath in peace.

However, even when she arrived, Ayra was rather shocked to find Commander Lynn already sitting on a rock, waiting for her.

"What are you...?" She stared at him in disbelief.

Commander Lynn calmly explained, "It’s dangerous to come out here alone, so I’ll always come with you."

Ayra blinked before slowly nodding. "Okay... I guess so..."

---

Commander Lynn had been bringing Ayra fruits to eat over the past few days. She’d been eating really healthily because he was always watching over her and making sure she ate only healthy food.

She wasn’t sure if she’d lost some weight or not, but one thing was certain: Ayra had been living on healthy food for days now.

Even when she sat in her room playing with Minnie, Kellie, and the triplets, Commander Lynn would show up with more fruits.

Her room was practically stacked with all kinds of fruits at this point. Ayra sighed as she stared at the collection before turning her attention to the new ones Commander Lynn had just brought.

"Here..." Commander Lynn smiled as he handed them to her. "They’re good for you."

Ayra didn’t know how to tell him off. She understood that he was doing all this for her own good and genuinely believed it was the best way to take care of her.

He had good intentions, and Ayra knew that. That was precisely what made the situation so difficult to handle.

"Papa, can we have some fruits too?" Neris asked.

"Me too! I also want fruits. I want this fruit!" Nat chimed in.

"Even baby Minnie and Kellie want fruits too!" Nyeon added, making his request on behalf of the twins.

However, Commander Lynn looked at them and slowly shook his head. "No... I’m sorry, but these are only for Mama."

He quickly added, "But don’t worry. I’ll personally cook something for you so you’ll have something else to eat."

Horror filled the triplet snakes’ faces as they exchanged glances and immediately shook their heads.

"Oh! Forget about that. We’ll go and ask Ally for something to eat instead!" Neris declared.

"Certainly!" Nat agreed, and the triplets instantly ran off for their dear lives. They certainly didn’t want any of the husbands cooking for them anytime soon.

Once they were gone, Ayra shook her head with a smile before turning to the fruits waiting for her. However, her smile quickly faded as she stared at the growing collection.

"Here... Have some," Commander Lynn urged, gesturing towards the fruits as Kellie and Minnie sat nearby, watching them.

Ayra nodded with a smile. "Okay... I will."

She wanted to tell him how she really felt, but she didn’t know how to do so without making him feel bad. She was worried that rejecting his efforts would hurt his feelings, especially when he had clearly put so much thought into taking care of her.

So, Ayra brushed aside her concerns and agreed to eat the fruits.

Commander Lynn smiled in satisfaction. "That’s great!" He gently patted her head before getting up. "I’ll go now. I’ll get some more on my way back."

With that, he left, while Ayra sat there watching him go. She could only sigh and shake her head.

Staring down at the fruits, she muttered, "I guess I’m stuck with eating fruits now..."

She turned towards the twins, who were sitting nearby and staring at her. Both Minnie and Kellie wore judgmental expressions, as though they understood exactly what was happening.

"What? Even you two are judging me now?" Ayra sighed. "I’m just trying to be considerate! What if he gets sad and everything? What am I supposed to do then?"

Minnie and Kellie said nothing. Instead, they tilted their heads at the same time, still giving her those judgmental looks.

Ayra sighed again. "Don’t judge me... I’m just being considerate." She smiled and picked up an apple, taking a bite. "Besides, fruits aren’t so bad after all. I can bear them for the time being..."

Immediately, her stomach growled.

"..."

Ayra sighed. "Oh dear..."

---

Commander Lynn continued with his schedule of protecting Ayra by all means.

He was almost always in her room, keeping an eye on her and carrying out his strange experiments to help her sleep better. Unfortunately, none of those experiments ever seemed to work out well.

Ayra couldn’t help wondering who the hell had taught him such things. One time, she had nearly fallen off the bed because of one of his so-called experiments!

Commander Lynn also refused to let her work. Whenever he found her doing something, he’d intervene, take the work away from her, and insist that she needed to get some rest instead.

Even when Ayra was healing a group of injured warrior beastmen, he was there, watching her attentively.

Ayra and Ally stood together at the scene, with Ayra healing the injured beastmen while Ally watched closely and learned from her.

Ally had gradually developed an interest in healing and soothing, especially because her strong pheromones could help with the process. As a result, she often accompanied Ayra whenever she was healing others, observing her work and learning a thing or two like an apprentice.

While the two of them focused on the injured beastmen, Commander Lynn watched from the side.

"You should get some rest," he said. "You look tired and exhausted. I’ll make sure they’re taken care of while you rest."

Ayra turned towards him. "Don’t worry about me. I can handle them. I need to heal them so they can get some rest too."

Commander Lynn sighed. "I told you I’d protect you, so of course I’m worried you’ll exhaust yourself by using too much energy. It’s not healthy for you..."

A brief silence followed as Ayra smiled at him. Ally turned to look at her, and their eyes met.

Ally said nothing, but she subtly signaled Ayra with her eyes. The message in her daughter’s gaze was clear, and Ayra understood it all too well.

She slowly nodded, still wearing a smile. Perhaps it was finally time to have a proper conversation with Commander Lynn, no matter what.

Taking a breath, Ayra turned towards him.

"Lynn... Can we talk after this?"
