Chapter 159: Chapter 96: Mastery of Hard Qigong! Immune to a Hundred Poisons

A company of over a hundred soldiers jogged over.

Leading them was a man of about thirty-seven or thirty-eight, dressed in a crisp military uniform. His epaulets prominently displayed three silver stars on a silver background with two bars.

He was the highest-ranking commander temporarily stationed at the train station.

He strode forward, his gaze sweeping across the scene before finally landing on the military officer, who was still trying to smile appeasingly.

"Why are people being held up here? How do you do your job? Didn’t I tell you? Everyone who comes through has to go over there for inspection!"

After getting chewed out, the officer was under immense pressure. He stammered out an explanation, "Chief... Chief Zeng! He’s from the General Affairs Department, so I..."

The General Affairs Department was practically a half-step above him in command. If he really offended them, they could make his life a living hell later on.

But he didn’t dare disobey the order from his actual direct superior standing right in front of him.

Now he was caught in the middle, unable to please anyone.

The chief, Zeng, finally turned to look at Lu Jingjun. He sized up the young man. He seemed to have a decent bearing, but that was all.

Then, Chief Zeng glanced at the two black cars in front.

’The General Affairs Department... That department is indeed a bit special. Its influence isn’t massive, but it’s not insignificant either.’

’But just for that, they expect me, the dignified commander of the Yanjing City Defense’s 13th Regiment, to make way?’

This lowly staffer from the General Affairs Department wasn’t important enough. Just as Chief Zeng was about to berate Lu Jingjun and send him back...

The rear door of the car opened. Li Zhen calmly stepped out and walked to Lu Jingjun’s side.

He didn’t speak, merely catching Chief Zeng’s eye with a meaningful look.

Seeing this, Chief Zeng instinctively glanced at Li Zhen’s shoulder, and his eyes instantly widened.

A single gold star. ’Holy shit! A living legend!’

Driven by instinct, Chief Zeng’s back snapped ramrod straight. He quickly snapped a perfect military salute.

Then he turned to the officer, who was still frozen in place, and barked, "What are you still standing there for?"

"Clear a path, now! If you delay the senior officer’s journey, you’ll answer to me!"

After being chewed out yet again by his superior, the officer was on the verge of tears.

’It’s only been a few seconds, and my boss has done a complete 180.’

’Sigh, life is so hard.’

But despite his frustration, he didn’t dare to delay for another second. He quickly waved his hand. "Spread out, spread out! Make way!"

Understanding the command, the soldiers guarding the passage entrance immediately moved to both sides.

A wide path appeared before the two black cars.

Li Zhen didn’t spare him another glance. He simply nodded at Lu Jingjun.

After the two turned and got back in the car, the two black cars started up again and slowly drove deeper into the train station.

Chief Zeng and the other officer stood their ground, watching the motorcade disappear into the distance.

A moment ago, they had both simultaneously snuck a peek at the back seat of the second car.

The window wasn’t fully rolled up, leaving a small gap. Through that gap, the two men saw an extremely familiar face.

’Isn’t the person sitting in the car one of the subjects of that photo of the century on the front page of this morning’s paper, the one that blew up the whole city?’

’Lu Yun, the advisor for Yun Port City’s Martial Arts Demonstration, and the future Military Governor of Yun Port City!’

’So it was him! So this is the big shot—the one even the President himself had to toast—who’s returning to Yun Port City. No wonder a high-ranking official from the General Affairs Department was seeing him off personally.’

’And I almost made this VIP get out of his car for an inspection?’

’Thank god I didn’t make a bigger fuss... otherwise, I’d really be finished!’

When the two cars stopped not far from the locomotive, Lu Yun stepped out from the back seat.

Li Zhen personally escorted him all the way to the door of the first-class carriage.

Pushing open the polished carriage door, the scene inside was more luxurious than any first-class train car Lu Yun had ever been in. It was practically a mobile mansion.

The spacious area was covered with a thick, dark red carpet that was soft underfoot. Plush leather sofas were arranged around it, forming a small reception area.

Beside them were several reclining chairs upholstered in genuine leather, which looked priceless at a glance.

Further in was a private room. Pushing open an exquisite wooden door revealed a wide sleeping berth.

Pillows, blankets, and a quilt were all provided, folded neatly.

Another connected carriage was specially designated for storing the potent tonics—the Centennial Ginseng Kings.

Inside that carriage stood a dozen capable-looking men. A single glance told you they were practitioners.

They were men trained by Li Zhen, specially assigned to transport and guard these valuable items.

In the train corridor, attendants pushed carts back and forth, ready to serve hot tea, snacks, and even freshly brewed coffee at any time.

Li Zhen sat down with Lu Yun on the sofa and said with a smile, "My good in-law, the men in the carriage behind this one were all handpicked by me. They are reliable and will help you move these things safely back to the Lu Family estate."

Lu Yun nodded slightly, a rare smile appearing on his face. "I’m grateful for your trouble, my good in-law. You must come and visit Yun Port City when you have the chance."

"I will, I will!" Li Zhen nodded repeatedly, his face beaming.

Outside the window, the train whistle blew, signaling its imminent departure.

Lu Jingjun quickly stood up to see Li Zhen off the train. The two exchanged a few words on the platform, and Li Zhen clapped his son-in-law on the shoulder before turning to get into his car and leave.

Lu Jingjun watched his father-in-law depart before returning to the carriage. He sat down across from Lu Yun and said excitedly, "Dad, I heard Third Brother is back too?"

Lu Yun glanced at him. "Yes."
