The captain took the initial move, striking the monsters with an electric beam before giving the order.

The formation was simple. They stayed in a closed circle, focusing on protecting the four directions.

The captain protected the north alone. Yasmin moved on her own to the east. Cici, along with two members, took the west, while Qasim and the last member defended the south.

The woman who was with Qasim started thinking about the situation.

*The captain is strong and can fight alone. That girl is insanely strong, and the other three are well trained. So that only means…*

She looked over at the boy without much expectation.

*I’m stuck with this one.*

She usually proudly claimed that she was one of the top five warriors in the city, but in this situation, she couldn’t help feeling nervous. She basically had to fight all these monsters alone.

Suddenly, a monster with three limbs, a short, twisted body, and red eyes caught her off guard.

In her panic, she missed her electric attack.

Her eyes widened as she thought this would be her end.

But Qasim stepped in.

He delivered a powerful strike to the monster’s side, piercing the spear aggressively through its dark, jelly-like body before slashing upward and cutting the monster in half.

A cloud of colorful dust emerged as the monster exploded.

The woman was left stunned, but she quickly snapped back to reality when she heard the boy’s voice.

“Focus! More are coming.”

“Y-Yes!”

After helping his teammate, Qasim lowered his spear as more monsters rushed forward.

He narrowed his eyes and, out of habit, began whispering before firing an electric beam that struck two monsters at once.

The monster behind them was blinded by the colorful dust, giving Qasim an opening.

He sprinted forward and positioned himself between two monsters.

The woman screamed in fear, not understanding what the boy was doing.

But to her shock, Qasim smoothly lowered his body, causing the two monsters to collide with each other.

He pierced one with his spear, then immediately slashed toward the other before jumping back into formation.

The captain killed another monster before glancing behind him at Qasim.

*Horrible control over the spear.*

He looked back and dodged a monster’s limb before killing it, then glanced at the boy again.

*But his strength, speed, and reflexes make up for his poor control.*

He then glanced beside him at Yasmin.

She rushed toward the monsters, covered herself with her black cloud, killed one, and immediately moved to the next. She continued fighting without getting hit, thanks to her ability to remain hidden inside the black cloud.

The captain hid an excited smile.

The two rookies had exceeded his expectations.

“Keep fighting, everyone! We’re winning!”

His shout made the rest of the team let out battle cries as sweat covered their bodies.

Qasim noticed that the monsters with red eyes were more aggressive than the rest, while the powers of the yellow-eyed monsters varied from one to another, with most of them being extremely weak.

His attention then shifted to the green-eyed monsters.

They were staying far away at the end of the forest, not moving at all. They simply watched.

There were only ten of them, but Qasim felt uncomfortable looking at them.

He wanted to attack them, but suddenly, he heard someone screaming beside him.

One of the monsters jumped at the three warriors on the west side.

Luckily, they managed to dodge the attack, but Cici was now trapped outside the formation, between that monster and the others rushing toward her.

As if time itself had begun moving slowly, Qasim’s mind started calculating his options.

*The captain is stuck at his position.*

*Yasmin is too far away to help.*

*I can sprint toward her and save her, but that will put the other woman in danger.*

*Her two teammates probably won’t be able to kill that monster in time to help her.*

His heart rate increased as he came to a conclusion.

*Leave my position to help, or stay here and trust the others to help in time.*

Qasim gritted his teeth as he remembered someone.

*What would Valen choose here?*

Suddenly, his mind went blank as the answer flowed into his mind.

Without wasting any time, he empowered his legs and rushed toward Cici, leaving his position.

Cici’s eyes widened as she saw the monsters closing in.

She raised her spear, willing to kill as many as she could before dying.

But at that moment, Qasim showed up.

At the same time, the woman in the south began breathing heavily as more monsters appeared than she could kill.

Qasim immediately grabbed Cici by her armor and threw her toward his position.

Then he raised his spear and spun it around himself at incredible speed, pushing the monsters away.

His eyes met those of the other two members in the west.

They understood what he was trying to do.

They both focused their attention on the monster ahead of them, killing it before turning toward the monsters surrounding Qasim and attacking them.

The boy kept spinning his spear, creating a layer of protection around himself.

Then he glanced toward the southern side and saw that Cici had already stood up and was helping the woman.

Seeing Qasim’s actions, the captain pushed himself to kill as many monsters on his side as quickly as possible.

For the next few minutes, nothing but colorful dust filled the forest until every monster was dead.

Qasim dropped to one knee, breathing heavily.

He glanced toward the distant green-eyed monsters.

They simply turned and disappeared back into the darkness.

Qasim took a deep breath before slowly standing up.

The captain walked toward him and placed a hand on his shoulder with a satisfied smile.

“With this, you two have proven your worth, and I’m sure the commander will be happy.”

Qasim simply gave him a small smile before turning toward someone calling his name.

Cici bowed her head respectfully as she thanked him for his help.

Qasim blinked a couple of times.

The gesture felt familiar, but from a different perspective.

*Ah, I see…*

He smiled warmly as he remembered seeing Valen receive the thanks of the people he had saved.

He laughed it off as he thought of a cool response.

“No need to mention it. Just pay for my food today!”

He said it with a big smile on his face.

But soon, his smile faded when he noticed the confusion on Cici’s face.

He looked at the captain and saw the same expression.

“Ah, yes… Food…”

The captain whispered as he placed a hand on his chin, thinking.

Cici adjusted her glasses and gave him a small smile.

“We… We don’t need to eat, so we stopped producing food…”

“…” Qasim was left speechless .

…

Deep in the forest, the green -eyed monsters were moving around a humanoid figure sitting on a rock on top of a huge monster with blue eyes and eleven limbs.

The figure was holding a lantern until one of the smaller monsters came close and bowed in front of the figure.

After a moment of silence , the figure let out a small cheerful laugh.

“What a unique new faces …”

The figure jumped off the rock and , with an excited smile, said to the monsters around.

“Well, it’s showtime .”
