Zhou Yuan looked on, completely bewildered. "Mr. Yang? What are you digging for?"

"Go get the flashlight from the car for me."

Yang Xun said without even looking up.

Although Zhou Yuan was full of questions, he did as he was told.

By the time he returned with the flashlight, Yang Xun had already dug nearly half a meter deep.

The soil was soft and easy to dig.

Another ten minutes or so passed.

Suddenly, the tip of the shovel struck something hard with a dull thud.

Yang Xun’s movements paused slightly. He set down the shovel, crouched, and gently brushed away the top layer of soil with his hands.

He looked down, and his pupils contracted slightly.

A piece of white bone, starkly clear, was exposed in the dirt.

"Mr. Yang... What did you dig up? It’s not... some kind of treasure, is it?"

Zhou Yuan stood a short distance away, his voice laced with nervousness.

Yang Xun stood up, glanced back at Zhou Yuan, and said in a calm but exceptionally grave tone, "Call the police."

"Huh?"

Zhou Yuan was stunned for a moment.

"Call the police."

Yang Xun repeated himself. "There’s no treasure here. It’s a corpse."

"Holy shit!"

Zhou Yuan’s face changed dramatically, and he immediately pulled out his phone to call the police.

Soon, the sharp sound of police sirens grew from a distance.

Several police cars screeched to a halt at the ancestral hall’s entrance. A group of officers poured out, led by a capable-looking, middle-aged police captain who strode quickly over to Yang Xun.

"Are you the one who called this in? What did you dig up here?"

"A skeleton, right there in that patch of grass. And I suspect there’s more than one."

Yang Xun pointed to the spot he had been digging.

"Why were you digging in a place like this?"

The police captain frowned, his eyes filled with suspicion.

Yang Xun already had his story prepared. "I’m a doctor. I found blood spatter inside the ancestral hall, and in more than one place. It couldn’t have been from an accidental injury, but I couldn’t find any reports of a related case. So I suspected a murder might have occurred here and decided to search the surrounding area."

After hearing this, the captain’s expression grew more serious. He turned and ordered his subordinate, "Go take a look."

A few officers walked over to where Yang Xun had been digging and carefully cleared away the surrounding soil and weeds.

About half an hour later, a complete human skeleton had been unearthed.

The expressions of everyone present turned solemn.

Yang Xun crouched beside the skeleton, observing it carefully for a moment before speaking. "This body has been buried here for a long time. At least two years."

"However, there should be more below."

The captain was taken aback. "More?"

"Yes."

Yang Xun pointed at the ground. "The soil beneath this skeleton shows signs of being disturbed a second time. Also, I observed earlier that the patterns of some of the bloodstains on the ground are different, as if they were left by more than one person."

The captain pondered for a moment before finally nodding. "Keep digging."

Following that, the police called in more manpower and equipment.

After nearly two hours of digging, they had unearthed a total of five skeletons from beneath that patch of grass.

Two elderly people, a young man and woman, and a small child less than a meter tall.

Everyone at the scene fell silent.

The medical examiner’s preliminary assessment was that all five had died around the same time, between two and three years ago. The adults’ cause of death was stab wounds, while the child had been strangled.

The captain’s face was ashen. He ordered his subordinates to immediately investigate local missing persons cases.

Half an hour later, an officer ran over. "Captain! I found something! Three years ago, a family of five from Shunping City was reported missing, and their whereabouts are still unknown! A young couple with their child, and the husband’s parents."

The captain took a deep breath and turned to Yang Xun, his tone much more polite than before. "Mr. Yang, we have you to thank for this. Otherwise, this case might have remained buried forever."

"You’re welcome. I just hope you can find the murderer quickly and bring them justice."

After speaking, Yang Xun’s gaze fell on the remains covered by white cloths, and he let out a soft sigh.

He walked over and gave a slight bow in the direction of the five bodies.

"Every injustice has a source, and every debt has a debtor. I will help you uncover the truth and make the one who harmed you pay the price."

As soon as he finished speaking, a sudden gust of wind blew from the direction of the ancestral hall, sweeping up a few fallen leaves. They swirled in the air before slowly drifting back down.

Zhou Yuan rubbed the back of his chilled neck. Just as he was about to say something, the phone in his pocket suddenly rang.

He answered the call, and after listening for a few moments, his expression changed drastically.

"What?! Something happened to Zhao Linglong?"

Zhou Yuan was surprised at first, then his face filled with impatience. "Madam Zhao was just calling Mr. Yang a fraud, and now she’s begging for our help? Is she trying to make fools of us?"

On the other end of the line, Zhao Hongshan was already sweating with anxiety and pleaded, "Young Master Zhou, it was my wife who was rude earlier. But a life is on the line! I hope Dr. Yang can come quickly and save my daughter. We can discuss any compensation."

Zhou Yuan hung up, fuming, and said to Yang Xun, "Zhao Linglong started vomiting and having severe stomach pain after taking that medicine. She’s unconscious now. Zhao Hongshan wants us to go back right away!"

"If you ask me, we shouldn’t go back. It has nothing to do with us, anyway. They’re the ones who gave Miss Zhao that medicine themselves."

Yang Xun was silent for two seconds, then shook his head. "Let’s go back and take a look."

Zhou Yuan was stunned. "Why? The Zhao Family treated you with such disrespect..."

"The girl is quite pretty. It’d be a shame if she just died like this."

Yang Xun said this nonchalantly and turned to walk toward the car.

Zhou Yuan stood frozen for two seconds before letting out a laugh. "Mr. Yang, you’re quite the gallant gentleman."

"I just have the benevolent heart of a healer!"

Yang Xun retorted, and the group quickly got in the car and left.

「The Zhao Family Villa.」

Everyone was gathered in Zhao Linglong’s room, completely helpless.

"I told you not to be so pragmatic! He came here out of the goodness of his heart to treat Linglong, but you just had to call him a fraud and drive him away!"

Zhao Hongshan berated her furiously.

Madam Zhao looked aggrieved. "Dr. Yang looked so young, who knows if he really has any medical skills? It might be a waste of time even if he comes back."

"Shut up!"

Zhao Hongshan was so furious he almost raised his hand to strike her.

"Don’t you dare say such pessimistic things! My Linglong will be fine."

Seeing he was truly enraged, Madam Zhao flinched and quickly shut her mouth.

Half an hour later, Yang Xun and Zhou Yuan rushed back.

Zhao Hongshan hurried forward to greet them, his tone pleading. "Divine Doctor Yang, you’re finally back! Linglong started vomiting and having severe stomach pain right after taking the medicine. She’s unconscious now, please, you have to take a look!"

Madam Zhao stood to the side, her lips trembling. Finally, she spoke in a low voice, "Divine Doctor Yang... My attitude before was terrible. I apologize. Please, I’m begging you to save Linglong."
