Chapter 354: New Product Jade Skin Cream

  • Next Chapter

Cheng Ye looked the newcomer up and down, his brows furrowing imperceptibly. He was certain he didn’t know this person, but since the man knew his surname, he had clearly come specifically for him.

“Who are you?”

“My last name is Xiao. Xiao Shijun.” The man walked into the private room and casually closed the door behind him, his movements as natural as if he were in his own home. He sat across from the two men and smiled. “I heard that Boss Cheng has been looking for a new R&D direction lately. It just so happens that I have a product in hand that might be able to help you out.”

Chen Junhao looked him up and down, his tone laced with obvious suspicion. “Who are you? We don’t even know you. Where did you hear this?”

Xiao Shijun ignored Chen Junhao. His gaze remained fixed on Cheng Ye, as if he was the only person in the room worth talking to. He pulled a palm-sized white porcelain bottle from his pocket and placed it on the table.

The bottle looked completely unremarkable. It had no labels or packaging, looking just like an ordinary bottle casually grabbed from some pharmacy.

“Boss Cheng, I call it ‘Jade Skin Cream’,” Xiao Shijun said, his voice even and measured. “The application is very simple. Apply a thick layer to the skin and leave it on for fifteen minutes. Once it forms a film, just peel it off.

“As for the effects…” He paused, flashing a mysterious smile. “You will see them the moment you peel it off.”

Chen Junhao sneered, his tone carrying undisguised mockery. “You actually have the nerve to bring an unbranded, unregulated product here? Do you think any random nobody can develop products for Meiyan Biotechnology? Take a look at your own old face. Who would dare use whatever you brought?”

Xiao Shijun didn’t look at him, nor did he argue. He simply pushed the porcelain bottle closer to Cheng Ye, his tone still calm. “Boss Cheng can take this back and try it. Find a few people to run a test and judge the results for yourself.

“If it works, contact me. If it doesn’t, just treat me like a scammer and throw the bottle away.”

With that, he took a business card from his pocket and laid it next to the bottle. He stood up, gave Cheng Ye a slight nod, turned, and walked out the door.

The door to the private room clicked shut, leaving a few seconds of silence in its wake.

Chen Junhao was the first to speak, his tone disdainful. “President Cheng, this guy is way too suspicious. He didn’t even introduce his background and immediately claimed his product was good. You can’t trust him.”

Cheng Ye didn’t answer. He simply reached out, picked up the white porcelain bottle from the table, unscrewed the cap, and leaned in to sniff it. A faint herbal scent wafted out—it wasn’t overpowering, but carried a refreshing quality.

He set the bottle down and picked up the business card. It was simple—just white cardstock printed with a single name and a phone number.

“Xiao Shijun…” Cheng Ye muttered the name softly. Without another word, he slipped both the bottle and the card into his pocket and stood up. “Let’s go. We’re heading back to the company.”

Chen Junhao froze. “We haven’t even finished eating.”

“I’m not eating. I have more important matters to attend to.” Cheng Ye was already at the door.

“No way. President Cheng, do you really believe what that guy said?” Chen Junhao looked utterly bewildered. Had Cheng Ye really been pushed to the point of clutching at straws in desperation?

“If he were really a scammer, he would have brought up money just now. But he didn’t. Instead, he was incredibly confident. We’ll take it back and test it; who knows, it might actually have unexpected results,” Cheng Ye said, a glimmer of hope sprouting in his chest as his eyes brightened a fraction.

By the time they returned to Meiyan Biotechnology Company, it was already past eight in the evening.

A few employees were still working overtime in the office area. Surprised to see Cheng Ye return so suddenly, they stood up to greet him. Cheng Ye gave a slight nod and headed straight for the R&D department.

The R&D supervisor hadn’t left yet and was in the middle of organizing experimental data. Seeing Cheng Ye push the door open, he quickly set down the documents in his hands.

“President Cheng? What brings you here so late?”

Wasting no time on pleasantries, Cheng Ye placed the white porcelain bottle directly onto the desk, his tone concise. “Find a few people and run a test.”

The supervisor paused, picking up the bottle to examine it. “What is this?”

“A new product. Apply it, wait fifteen minutes to peel off the film, and let’s see the results.”

Although his stomach was full of questions, the boss had spoken, so the supervisor didn’t dare ask too much. He immediately called over two R&D staff members who hadn’t gotten off work yet. Cheng Ye didn’t stay to watch the process, turning around and heading back to his own office.

About half an hour later, the R&D supervisor knocked on his office door, unable to mask the utter shock on his face.

“President Cheng… you need to see this for yourself.”

Cheng Ye stood up instantly.

The lights in the R&D department were brighter than before. Several employees were clustered around the lab bench, murmuring in voices full of astonishment.

Cheng Ye walked over, his gaze sweeping across the faces of the employees who had participated in the test. One young female employee stood in front of a mirror, repeatedly touching her cheek with wide eyes. Her face originally had some dullness and acne scars, but now, the half of her cheek that had undergone the test was smooth and delicate. It was more than a shade whiter, looking like a freshly peeled hard-boiled egg and glowing with healthy radiance.

In stark contrast, the other half of her face that hadn’t been tested appeared much duller and rougher.

“President Cheng…” the R&D supervisor’s voice trembled with suppressed excitement. “The results are incredible. We did a controlled comparison, and all the testers showed significant improvement in their skin condition. The most dramatic case saw a brightness increase of nearly two shades.”

Cheng Ye didn’t speak right away. He approached the female employee, leaning in to carefully examine her face. He then reached out and gently touched the skin on the tested cheek. It was smooth to the touch, vastly exceeding his expectations.

Straightening up, he looked at the R&D supervisor. “Have you analyzed the ingredients?”

“We did a preliminary test. There are no prohibited substances, nor is there any heavy metal residue,” the R&D supervisor said, sounding a bit uncertain. “But there are some compounds we can’t fully identify yet. They seem to be some kind of plant extract we haven’t encountered before.”

Cheng Ye’s heart pounded wildly as a broad smile spread across his face. “Thank you for your hard work today, everyone. Get off work early. The employees who participated in the trial can go to the finance department to collect a ten-thousand-yuan bonus.”

The moment the words left his mouth, he quickly turned and hurried back to his office.

He fished the business card from his pocket and stared at the name on it for a moment. Then, he picked up his phone and dialed the number.

The call connected after just two rings.

“Hello?” Xiao Shijun’s voice came through the line, sounding as if he had known all along that Cheng Ye would call.

“Mr. Xiao, I’ve tested your product. The effects are indeed impressive. I’d like to invite you to take a position in our company’s R&D department. Name your price,” Cheng Ye said, his voice laced with excitement.
