Chapter 358 - 356: Nine Nether Cold Jade Grass Seed
Yue Feifei glanced down at the bag of breakfast. After a two-second silence, she reached out and gently grasped Yang Xun’s wrist.
"Yang Xun."
"Hmm?"
"About last night..." She paused and looked up, her almond-shaped eyes brimming with earnestness. "Everything I said was true. It wasn’t just the alcohol talking."
Yang Xun looked down at her and reached out to gently ruffle her messy hair. With a light chuckle, he said, "I know. I meant what I said, too."
A radiant smile blossomed on Yue Feifei’s face, and she threw her arms around him.
The two shared a sweet, intimate breakfast together. It was nearly noon by the time Yang Xun finally left.
Upon returning to the villa, Yang Xun hurried into his room, carrying the wooden box. He sat down at his desk and carefully opened the lid. The blue, spherical seed lay quietly on the velvet lining, emanating a soft halo in the indoor lighting.
Yang Xun took it out and placed it in his palm. Closing his eyes, he drew a wisp of True Qi from his Dantian, guiding it through his meridians to his fingertips before gently enveloping the seed.
The moment his True Qi touched its surface, he felt a surge of Spiritual Qi seep out from within the seed, as if it had been awakened by him. Yang Xun slowly opened his eyes. Looking down at the seed bursting with light within the shroud of his True Qi, the corners of his lips curved upward involuntarily.
He immediately flipped through the Rejuvenation Medical Scripture to find a matching medicinal plant. A seed containing such potent Spiritual Qi was definitely no ordinary item.
Soon, he found a medicinal herb whose characteristics matched perfectly. His mind buzzed with shock.
Nine Nether Cold Jade Grass!
He wondered if it could really be such a coincidence. He had asked people to search for the Nine Nether Cold Jade Grass for so long without any news, yet here he was with a seed.
He stared at the section detailing the Nine Nether Cold Jade Grass, reading it word by word. The text stated that the plant thrived in the shade and abhorred direct sunlight. It needed to be kept in a well-ventilated, cool place. The soil required was soft humus mixed with a small amount of fine sand for drainage. It needed watering twice a day—once in the morning and once in the evening—without overdoing it, just enough to keep the soil slightly moist.
In short, cultivating the Nine Nether Cold Jade Grass demanded meticulous care.
After reading through the instructions, he paced around his room before finally settling on a corner near his desk. It was safe from direct daytime sunlight, bathed in soft light, and well-ventilated.
He found a suitably deep flowerpot, went to the yard to dig up some soil, and mixed the humus and fine sand according to the required proportions. Carefully, he buried the blue seed in the soil, covered the surface with a thin layer of fine sand, and gently sprayed it with some water using a watering can.
Having done all this, he placed the flowerpot on the corner of his desk and stepped back to inspect his work. Yang Xun knew the seed was dormant and needed time and the right environment to awaken. As for how long it would take to sprout, no one could say for sure.
Meanwhile, at Meiyan Biotechnology Company.
A black van slowly pulled up to the company entrance. Xiao Shijun stepped out wearing a washed-out gray shirt and carrying a worn-out briefcase, looking completely out of place among the suited-up elite professionals bustling around.
The receptionist stopped him. "Sir, who are you looking for?"
"My name is Xiao Shijun. President Cheng asked me to come."
Xiao Shijun’s voice was not loud, but it carried an unhurried confidence.
The receptionist dialed the internal line. Upon receiving confirmation, her attitude instantly became respectful. "Mr. Xiao, President Cheng is waiting for you in the conference room. I’ll take you up."
The conference room was already full. Cheng Ye sat at the head of the table, with the heads of the R&D, Marketing, and Sales departments seated in order to his left. Everyone cast a scrutinizing gaze toward the door.
When Xiao Shijun pushed the door open and walked in, the atmosphere in the room noticeably stagnated for a moment. Disdain was written across the attendees’ faces.
"Let me introduce everyone," Cheng Ye said, standing up. His tone was highly respectful. "This is Mr. Xiao Shijun. Starting today, he will serve as the Chief R&D Consultant for Meiyan Biotechnology. He is the lead developer behind the Jade Skin Cream."
The conference room fell silent for several seconds.
The Marketing Director was a woman in her forties named Feng Ya. She was the first to speak, her tone laced with obvious distrust.
"President Cheng, the test results for the Jade Skin Cream are indeed quite good, but I suggest you reconsider carefully. If there are any issues with the ingredients, Meiyan Biotechnology is completely finished.
"Besides, it’s only gone through one round of testing. We haven’t even fully seen the results yet. Isn’t it a bit too hasty to appoint him as a consultant right now?"
As her voice faded, several department heads nodded in agreement.
Cheng Ye smiled faintly and shot a look at his secretary. A video then began playing on the large screen.
In the video, the screen showed a split view of a young female employee’s face. The skin on the right side, where the product had been tested, was visibly fairer and more delicate than the left. The difference in skin tone was more than two shades apart.
The scene then switched to before-and-after comparison photos of several other testers. Every set showed a stark contrast. The effects on skin brightness, pore refinement, and the fading of acne scars were particularly instantaneous.
It was as if someone had hit the pause button on the air in the conference room.
"These are the tests we ran last night. Since we had this meeting first thing in the morning, I haven’t had the chance to show you all yet.
"The seven participants tested were all selected randomly. The data is authentic and verifiable. If you still don’t believe it, you can try it yourselves."
Saying that, Cheng Ye pushed the bottle of Jade Skin Cream to the center of the table.
Everyone in the room looked astonished. They had never seen a skincare product with such immediate results. Feng Ya stared at the comparison photos on her tablet screen for a long while, unable to stop herself from being tempted.
"I’ll try it on my hand first," she said.
Picking up the bottle of Jade Skin Cream, she scooped out a small amount with her finger and applied it to the back of her hand. After waiting for fifteen minutes, the paste solidified into a thin black film, which she slowly peeled off.
Gasps echoed around her as they saw the smooth, porcelain-white skin beneath where the film had been. Feng Ya looked absolutely stunned. Her skin hadn’t been this fair and tender even when she was eighteen.
Now, no one uttered a word. The gazes directed at Xiao Shijun were suddenly filled with a newfound reverence. It seemed Meiyan Biotechnology would be relying heavily on this man in the future. Whether they could defeat Xu’s Beauty Industry depended entirely on this endeavor.
Seeing that there were no further objections, Xiao Shijun spoke in a breezy, nonchalant tone, "I’ve already adjusted the Jade Skin Cream formula to its optimal state, and the raw material supply chain has been secured. As long as President Cheng gives the nod, the first batch of products can hit the market in as little as fifteen days."
Cheng Ye nodded in satisfaction. Just as he was about to speak, the conference room door was suddenly pushed open from the outside.
Chen Junhao strode in, followed by an assistant carrying a briefcase.
"President Cheng, I’ve watched the videos you sent! We must prepare for the Jade Skin Cream’s market launch immediately!" he exclaimed excitedly. Spotting Xiao Shijun sitting nearby, his face lit up with enthusiasm. "Mr. Xiao, you really can’t judge a book by its cover! Seeing how ordinarily you dress, I honestly thought you were a fraud at first. I didn’t expect you to be so immensely capable!"
Chen Junhao tightly grasped Xiao Shijun’s hand. Xiao Shijun, however, merely gave a forced twitch of his lips.
