Chapter 102

The Webfiend Lord swung its scythe with enough force to cleave through a massive boulder.

Orion ducked beneath the blade, his white hair fluttering in the violent current it generated, then immediately counterattacked with his red dagger, aiming for the monster’s ribs.

The Webfiend Lord twisted its body, allowing the blade to pass dangerously close before bringing its own dagger down toward Orion’s head.

Orion raised his blue dagger to meet the attack.

CLANG!

Sparks scattered through the air as the weapons collided. Without pausing, Orion shifted his grip and pushed the monster’s dagger aside, rotating his body with the movement to slip past its guard and launch another attack at its exposed flank.

The Webfiend Lord reacted almost instantly, unleashing its webstrings from behind its back. Several sharp blades formed in rapid succession, shooting toward Orion from different angles in an attempt to cut off his escape routes.

Orion changed direction in midair, using his telekinesis to pull his body sideways and evade the incoming weapons by the narrowest of margins. One blade passed close enough to disturb his hair, while another scraped against the fabric of his white clothing before continuing past him.

Before the webstrings could turn around and launch another attack, Orion closed the distance between them.

His blue dagger swept upward, forcing the Webfiend Lord to block with its scythe. At the same time, Orion’s red dagger came from the opposite direction, leaving the monster with little choice but to twist its body to avoid being struck.

The exchange lasted barely a second, yet within that brief moment, both combatants had launched multiple attacks, blocked several counterattacks, and repositioned themselves more than once.

The Webfiend Lord retreated half a step, but Orion immediately advanced, refusing to give it any breathing room.

Their weapons collided again, the sharp clangs echoing across the devastated battlefield as the two continued exchanging blows at an incredible pace.

The monster’s frustration grew with every passing second.

How is this happening?

Its thoughts were becoming increasingly disordered as it struggled to comprehend the situation.

How can this be happening?

With its newly acquired ability, it should have already obliterated Orion. It should have overwhelmed the human with its superior attributes and crushed him beneath the overwhelming difference in their strength.

That had been the entire point of its evolution. It had sought enough power to destroy the abnormal human who had forced it into such a difficult battle, and after finally achieving that evolution, it had expected the fight to end in its favour.

Yet the opposite was happening.

The longer they fought, the stronger Orion seemed to become. His movements grew sharper, his counters became more precise, and he continued identifying and exploiting openings that had previously been difficult to create.

The situation was becoming ridiculous, so much so that even the Webfiend Lord’s normally sturdy mind was beginning to tremble with disbelief.

It had never experienced anything like this in its life. Never had a human pushed it to such an extent, nor had it faced an opponent who could continue matching it after undergoing such a tremendous evolution.

And the most infuriating part was that Orion still did not appear particularly strained.

His rainbow-coloured eyes remained calm, and his expression carried the same composed focus he had displayed from the beginning. He fought as though the battle were proceeding exactly as he had expected, as though the Webfiend Lord’s formidable strength were merely another obstacle to study and overcome.

What the monster failed to understand, however, was just how abnormal Orion truly was.

---

In terms of his base physical attributes, Orion was nowhere near worthy of being considered the Webfiend Lord’s equal.

His physical attributes stood at only 50, while his mental attributes were 60. Compared to the monster’s 350 physical attributes and 260 mental attributes, those numbers were insignificant.

Under ordinary circumstances, the outcome would have been obvious. Orion would have been crushed, his body struggling to withstand the monster’s attacks while his movements proved too slow to keep up with its speed.

But Orion was anything but ordinary.

Once his Origin State was taken into account, the situation changed dramatically. His physical attributes rose to 250, while his mental attributes reached 300.

Then came the passive attribute boosts provided by his three daggers.

With those boosts applied, his physical attributes reached 300, while his mental attributes increased to 360.

Those numbers alone were already abnormal. His physical strength had risen to a level that allowed him to compete with the Webfiend Lord, while his enhanced mental attributes provided the perception, concentration, and processing ability necessary to survive against an opponent whose combat skills had evolved to such a dangerous degree.

Of course, even with these abnormal attributes, the Webfiend Lord still possessed superior physical strength and speed in its current form. Its physical attributes remained higher than Orion’s, and its Grade S ability made every attack even more dangerous.

However, those calculations had not yet taken Orion’s telekinesis into account.

His telekinesis could multiply the force he exerted by a factor of five. When fully applied to his physical force, that meant Orion could bring the effective force of his attacks to a level equivalent to 550 physical attributes.

If he chose to utilize that ability to its full extent, the battle would be approaching its end right now. The Webfiend Lord would struggle to withstand such a difference in force for long, its weapons would be overwhelmed, and its defenses would eventually be shattered beneath Orion’s attacks.

He would have no reason to prolong the fight.

But that was precisely what he was choosing not to do.

Orion wasn’t fully exploiting his telekinesis. Instead, he blended its effects with his physical strength, applying just enough force to enhance his movements without allowing the ability to overwhelm every other aspect of the battle.

Rather than relying on a single overwhelming advantage, he combined his attributes, fighting skills, telekinesis, Origin Eyes, and Origin Mind into one seamless fighting style.

He mixed his power with his technique, his strength with his precision, and his telekinesis with his movements, allowing each to complement the others.

The result was an opponent capable of instilling dread in the heart of the Webfiend Lord.

Orion wasn’t simply strong. His effective combat power was difficult to measure because he possessed so many different ways to increase it, allowing him to adapt his approach depending on the situation.

And right now, he was still holding back.

---

BAM!

The Webfiend Lord’s scythe collided with Orion’s blue dagger, sending a burst of force through the surrounding air.

BAM!

Orion’s red dagger swept toward the monster’s torso, forcing it to twist aside to avoid the strike.

SLASH!

The Webfiend Lord retaliated with a vicious slash, but Orion leaned away from the blade before driving his knee toward the monster’s abdomen.

The impact forced the Webfiend Lord backward. Before it could regain its balance, Orion was already advancing again, his daggers poised to continue the assault.

BAM!

Their weapons collided once more.

SLASH!

A red blade flashed across the monster’s side.

BAM! BAM! BAM!

The two continued exchanging attacks, their movements growing increasingly violent as the battlefield around them descended further into chaos. The Webfiend Lord unleashed its weapons in a relentless assault, its purple aura flaring with every strike, while Orion answered with his twin daggers, weaving through the incoming attacks and retaliating whenever an opening appeared.

For a while, the exchange seemed evenly matched, with neither combatant allowing the other a clear advantage.

Then, suddenly...

SLASH!

A massive gash appeared across the Webfiend Lord’s chest.

The monster’s eyes widened as blood spilled from the wound. It staggered backward, its feet carving two deep trenches into the ground before it finally managed to stop.

Orion landed calmly a short distance away, his white clothing splattered with blood. For a brief moment, the crimson stains stood out vividly against the pristine fabric, but they soon disappeared, restoring his clothes to their original appearance as though nothing had happened.

His gaze remained fixed on the Webfiend Lord, and all three daggers were still with him: the blue dagger in one hand, the red dagger in the other, and the white dagger held between his teeth.

He didn’t rush forward to capitalize on the wound. Instead, Orion stood where he had landed, calmly watching the Webfiend Lord recover from the attack.

The monster looked down at its chest before slowly raising its gaze toward him.

A terrible thought surfaced in its mind.

I’m going to lose if this continues.
