Chapter 1224: Embroidered Robe Envoy
Chapter 1224: Chapter 1224: Embroidered Robe Envoy
"Did this really happen? Haha! That’s quite interesting." Mei Simiao was initially surprised by Pei Yan’s account, then smiled knowingly and asked, "Can you confirm if they’re using the same type of magic?"
"It’s hard to confirm." Pei Yan smiled wryly, holding the document in hand, "It only records bits and pieces, and it’s been such a long time. Relying solely on this as evidence is too hasty, but at least it’s a flaw. I reckon there should be more records in the Dragon Realm about this subject. Afterwards, I’ll send a message to Long Jin asking her to bring these documents and capable people here to assist us."
"Good!" Mei Simiao nodded contentedly and sat back, tapping the bottled water on the table with his fingers casually, "Things are easier to handle since you returned. Investigating the spy in the Immortal Palace isn’t urgent right now; we still have time. But how do you plan to handle the current situation?"
"Doesn’t matter if it’s the Hongjun Sword Furnace’s doing, but the evidence is right here! We have three dead here, and my friend is injured. They can’t just wash their hands off easily. Nothing is that simple!" Pei Yan said with a dissatisfied cold snort, "Shake the mountain and make the tiger leap! Letting the Immortal Palace know that attacking our people comes with consequences! Hongjun Sword Furnace wants to cover up the despicable deeds and shelter the real culprit, but that’s not going to slide!"
"I said we needed this kid back to get things done!" came a cheerful voice from the doorway before anyone showed up. Pei Yan turned to see Gu Shenghui leading a group of people, including Hu Jiu and Ye Ruozai, stepping into the hall.
"Gu Chu, just speak straight about this. Was it worth the run-around on the way? Am I that impulsive in your eyes?" Pei Yan, upon seeing Gu Shenghui, turned his head aside irritably.
"If I’d said outright there were casualties among our people, wouldn’t you have stormed off to confront them? I’m not stopping you from going, but we have to afford Elder Feng some face. Anyway, I reckon the news has already reached the Hongjun Sword Furnace." Gu Shenghui casually explained, unfazed by Pei Yan’s sour demeanor, sitting across from him with a smile.
"How did Elder Feng get involved? Is the Mo Sect well connected with the Hongjun Sword Furnace?" Pei Yan understood Gu Shenghui’s intention and did not dwell on the matter, switching to a question.
Mei Simiao tossed the bottle back onto the table with a chuckle, "Besides the ever-competing Celestial Secret Pavilion, the Mo Sect, known for its Artifact Refining Mechanism, maintains good relationships with other sects. After all, for refining superior Magical Artifacts and Arrays, each sect seeks its assistance. The ancestors of the Hongjun Sword Furnace’s Liu family and Feng Tianhe had good personal relations, presumably inviting Elder Feng to mediate."
"I see!" Pei Yan nodded and glanced at Hu Jiu beside him, "Go check on your wife, and console her! Tell her we’ll take her people’s bodies and go demand justice for her."
"Got it!" Upon hearing Pei Yan, Hu Jiu, who had ignored Hati’s resentful glances since entering, jumped from his chair, bowed to Pei Jin, called her second sister, and smilingly patted her shoulder entrusting Hati to her before swiftly pulling Hati aside for a talk.
Pei Yan, uninterested in supervising how his younger brother lectured his wife, looked toward Mei Simiao and continued to inquire, "Did we transport our people’s bodies back?"
"No, knowing there would be a confrontation afterward, they were stored in a Spatial Ring to completely isolate them from the environment and preserve them properly," Mei Simiao replied.
"Good! Oh, by the way! Have the Embroidered Robe Envoys suffered any casualties? Should we bring them along to demand justice and boost our presence?"
"Hmm."
"Hehe!"
Upon asking, Pei Yan heard the sound of chuckling and cold snorting. Looking sideways, he saw the chuckler was Wang Wenze and the cold snorter was Zheng Jia Ru standing behind him.
"Is there a problem with what I said?" asked Pei Yan, puzzled.
Before Zheng Jia Ru could speak, Xia Yu interjected, "I reckon you won’t be able to rally the Embroidered Robe Envoys. They don’t have the face to go to Hongjun Sword Furnace to demand anything!"
"Hmm?" Pei Yan raised an eyebrow, sensing meaning in Xia Yu’s words, and Xia Yu straightforwardly explained, "Our people’s harm stemmed from the negligence of the Embroidered Robe Envoys responsible for outer patrols. This allowed the opposing side to approach our courtyard before being detected by the Fenrir Race! Old Wang’s situation mirrors the locale."
"What?" Pei Yan exclaimed, anger flaring as he turned to Wang Wenze, who nodded helplessly, "At the time, we escorting personnel to the Heavenly Guardian Pavilion included me, Liang Qian, Feiyang, and Old Jiang, each protecting a member of the investigation team. The Embroidered Robe Envoys numbered only six, facing over twenty attackers, surpassing us by numbers. Moreover, those investigating were ordinary people, and in the chaos unable to shield them resulted in their injury from battle... ".
Bang! Before Wang Wenze finished speaking, Pei Yan slammed the table loudly, instantly filling the hall with the intense anger emanating from Pei Yan, rendering everyone silent. Hati, who had been lamenting to Hu Jiu, felt the rage in his aura and, like witnessing a provoked lion on the brink of rage, tightly sealed her lips, saying no more.
"Where’s Lin Daozi? Where’s the promise? For every investigator, five Embroidered Robe Envoys were supposed to offer protection! Is this how they protect them?" Pei Yan took several deep breaths to barely calm his fury, then turned to question Gu and Mei.
"Lin Daozi wasn’t there; he was reassigned by Lin Ruxue to handle a confidential matter," Gu Shenghui replied after a long glance at Pei Yan.
"Oh! Right!" Hearing Gu Shenghui, Pei Yan recalled that during the incident, he was transferring Moira’s Power of Origin, Lin Ruxue had transferred Lin Daozi to guard at the entrance of the last secret realm.
"Hahaha, well played! Their timing was precise! Calculating against me, huh? With Lin Daozi gone, they dare act so recklessly?" The thought angered Pei Yan further, who responded with furious questioning.
Mei Simiao spoke helplessly beside him, "Over such a long period without incidents, the Embroidered Robe Envoys grew complacent. With Lin Daozi gone, their restraint vanished, compounded by our increased investigators, while the opposing side were evidently unwilling to augment their defensive personnel according to our increased numbers, leading to manpower shortages, denying our requests for additional personnel when retrieving the documents."
