Chapter 1343: Counterattack
Chapter 1343: Chapter 1343: Counterattack
Although the Jinwu Guard soldiers are all top-notch experts, the collapse of the Talisman Giant did not harm them, yet to avoid the impact, the army had to make an opening. The fallen Talisman Giant, under the control of the duo of Heaven-Questioning Talisman, naturally wouldn’t sit idly by, attempting to shake off the black-and-white mist clinging to it by twisting its body. However, the strength of these two mists was evidently far superior to that of the Talisman Giant. Under their suppression, the giant’s body cracked, and the talismans on its surface shattered sequentially.
Seeing this, Fu Wentian readied to switch to other talismans for attack. Just then, the ever-prepared Hongjun Sword Furnace Liu Xuanji made a move! He and his senior brother Mo Baiqi strode forward, with their pace quickening and their altitude increasing. By the time they flew over the battlefield, the Sword Qi they gathered shone like the midday sun, dazzling and blinding. The two of them then aimed the two giant swords formed from their bodies at the mist below and descended from the sky.
During the descent of the giant swords, the originally spellcasting Heaven-Questioning siblings, upon noticing the changes on the battlefield, altered their finger gestures. As their fingers moved swiftly through the air, lines of runes appeared on the two descending giant swords, enhancing their initially formidable Sword Qi to become even more powerful.
Boom!
Roar!
The giant swords fell with a thunderous crash, and amidst a screeching collision, a pained wail came from within the mist. The combined strike of the four Heavenly Dao pinnacle cultivators failed to cut the mist in half but inflicted considerable harm, dispersing the mist to reveal its true form.
"Oh my!" Pei Yan exclaimed in astonishment upon witnessing this scene. He finally understood why Jin He Xuan and Long Jin reacted the way they did upon seeing these three mists. Within the black and white mists were wrapped a withered black dragon resembling a dried corpse and a skeletal dragon entirely devoid of flesh and blood yet moving freely.
This was the first time Pei Yan saw the scene of Eastern Dragons transformed into skeletal dragons. The dragons no longer had the majestic and noble demeanor that he had previously witnessed; their aura was filled with evil, eerie horror, and even a trace of nausea. No wonder such a massive thunder tribulation accompanied the appearance of these mists. It wasn’t White Deer Institute’s doing but rather the Daoist Plane’s Heavenly Dao’s aversion and repulsion towards such creatures.
"Pei Yan, do you now understand why the Garden of the Immortals was besieged by the entire Daoist Plane when it fell back then? They have become reckless and have lost the fundamental limits a cultivator should have!" Long Jin said through gritted teeth, gazing at the two crafted dragon ancestors below.
"You mean? This is the work of the Dragon Breeding Institute?" Pei Yan pointed at the two grotesque dragons in astonishment and said, "Even though these two dragons are dead, they still exude the aura of Heavenly Dao pinnacle. Currently, such dragons exist only in the Dragon Realm, not in the Daoist Plane. But, the Dragon Breeding Institute was destroyed so many years ago! Have these things been existing until now? Uh! Even if they can’t be considered alive, the soul would dissipate after such a long time even if the flesh was crafted into undead creatures. A body without a soul cannot emit such powerful might!"
As he spoke, Pei Yan thought of Thanatos encountered in the Hell Plane and realized, "Their souls are imprisoned separately?"
"Yes! It’s one of the Dragon Breeding Institute’s techniques. They not only enslaved these divine beasts in life but also spared no one in death. The corpses were crafted into such evil creatures, with bodies imperishable while the souls were sealed in special containers, never to rest in peace. Each time they are used, the soul merges with the corpse, and each use wears the soul down until eventual obliteration. According to our records, during the extermination of the Dragon Breeding Institute, our ancestors encountered such wicked beings, where they reluctantly and mournfully disposed of their ancestor’s remains to let their souls finally rest! I never imagined the Dragon Breeding Institute had secretly retained three evil creatures, nor did I expect to have a day to confront them." After finishing, Long Jin and Jin He Xuan advanced together slowly. To Pei Yan’s astonishment, a cyan and a yellow light each enveloped them. As the radiance expanded to its peak and dissipated, a majestic dragon and a Golden-winged Roc soared high, emitting dragon and phoenix cries, and dove towards the battlefield.
At this moment, the battlefield persisted in chaos. Although the sword strike of Liu Xuanji and Mo Baiqi injured the two evil dragons, its shockwave crushed the Talisman Giant they suppressed beneath. Amongst the debris of lifeless stones, the two evil dragons spewed black and white flames imbued with death’s aura. The two Heavenly Dao pinnacle cultivators from the Clear Wind Talisman Transformation Sect couldn’t retreat even a single step, for without intervention, the evil dragons’ attack would reach the Six Guards Army behind them.
Despite Heaven-Questioning Talisman repeatedly deploying Talismanic Technique to hastily assemble a defensive Array against the evil dragons’ assault, some soldiers could not avoid being grazed by the flames sprayed by the dragons. Upon contacting the protective elemental force, the flames quickly corroded it and burned through to the body. Instead of showing signs of conventional burns, the afflicted rapidly withered, turning into dry, lifeless bodies or swiftly decaying until flesh and bone separated.
This transformation immediately triggered confusion within the army. Cultivators below Asura Dao were utterly unable to resist such bizarre Dragon Fire. Fortunately, the Six Guards were well-disciplined, and the disturbance was soon quelled. Those soldiers who were completely engulfed by the Dragon Fire were beyond rescue; their comrades could only use spears to push their remains far from the crowd. Meanwhile, others with mere injuries could only choose the painful decision to sever the affected limbs, stopping further bodily harm from the Dragon Fire.
The two evil dragons attempted to disrupt the situation and delay time, but the experts from various sects wouldn’t allow such a scheme to succeed. Unable to spare themselves while defending the army, Mo Baiqi and Liu Xuanji took over the fight, launching fresh assaults on the two evil dragons. Just then, the blood-red mist swirling in the sky, seeing its companions besieged, joined the fray with an ear-piercing howl.
Boom!
A turbulent wave of air swept the entire sky as the transformed Golden-winged Roc Jin He Xuan clashed with the red mist, revealing the true nature of the evil creature within the mist. No flashy moves were taken; Jin He Xuan used the instinctive fighting style of divine beasts, unveiling the sinister secret of the creature hidden within the mist.
Observing, Pei Yan could fully imagine the wrath Jin He Xuan must feel now, for the dissipated mist revealed in front of him a Gold Velvet Roc without feathers, with raw flesh and a dreadfully grotesque appearance.
