Chapter 1481: Model Assembly
Pei Yan and Jiang Feiyang, who had rushed out, took Xia Yu, who was utterly confused, to a secluded spot to explain their intentions. Xia Yu immediately expressed that this was no problem for her. Subsequently, the three of them returned from the Immortal Palace to the Investigation Hall, where Pei Yan first found Yu Zhongmin and, with his personal accompaniment, signed for the resource materials he had requested from the three big warehouses.
If it were in the past, for Pei Yan, absorbing the resources from these warehouses would have required at least half a day, not to mention three entire warehouses. Yu Zhongmin was worried about this and asked Pei Yan if there would be enough time. In response, Pei Yan smiled as his mouth curled up; he did not even personally absorb the resources but instead split twelve mechanical clones from his own body. These clones respectively stood firm at the four corners of the three warehouses and started extending their arms. Suddenly, the space inside the warehouse distorted, and the bottom of the three warehouses seemed to open a giant abyss-like mouth, swallowing massive amounts of resources instantly. The entire process took less than ten minutes, and the originally full warehouses were emptied completely.
Looking at the empty warehouses where even a mouse would cry upon leaving, Yu Zhongmin felt mixed emotions and walked up to Pei Yan, patting his shoulder and instructing, “I hope these materials can demonstrate the value they deserve.”
“Yu Hall, rest assured, I will ensure that they are worth far beyond their value,” Pei Yan smiled and promised, knowing Yu Zhongmin’s inner conflict at the moment.
After seeing off Yu Zhongmin, the three did not leave and started their research right in this empty warehouse. They pulled the warehouse door to begin. The design of the Soldier Puppet model is both simple and complex; the key lies in Jiang Feiyang using his abilities to condense a massive number of soldiers, who though appear armed with many weapons, actually have very low combat power.
To activate and demonstrate the true power of the weapons these soldiers carry, Pei Yan’s abilities are needed to support them. This avoids Jiang Feiyang’s disadvantage of refining powerful Soldier Puppets in small quantities while Pei Yan mechanizes some weapons without needing to manage the soldiers’ consciousness, thus breaking the limit on the controllable number of soldiers and saving the consumption of his own source energy.
Creating a perfect Soldier Puppet that combines these two requirements while ensuring high combat capability was debated endlessly between Pei Yan and Jiang Feiyang. Meanwhile, Xia Yu, dragged along as a 3D printer, had little say in the matter and could only sit on the floor watching them argue, waiting for them to reach a final conclusion. Once the prototype was agreed upon, she could begin the condensing assembly.
No one knew how long the argument lasted, during which Pei Yan refined one prototype after another, only to have them overturned by the pair, until Xia Yu, bored and drowsy, felt a push on her shoulder. When she opened her blurry eyes, she saw three sets of full-scale mechanical clones before her and a floor covered with mechanical components. She rubbed her aching head, weakly saying, “You’ve finally finished discussing.”
“Ah! We’re finished discussing! This is our final Soldier Puppet model.” Contrary to Xia Yu’s sleepy state, Pei Yan and Jiang Feiyang were extremely excited, having just completed a masterpiece that met their expectations. Jiang Feiyang responded excitedly, “You just need to construct parts based on this model. We’ll tell you what to pay attention to as you condense them.”
Hearing this, Xia Yu slapped her cheeks hard to wake herself up, and after regaining her clarity, she walked around the three prototypes, examining their open body cabins and the components scattered everywhere. She finally picked up something akin to a crossbow-like launcher, comparing it in her hand, and gently stroked the purely mechanical Mechanical Warhorse. Then, looking at Pei Yan and Jiang Feiyang, she asked in shock, “Are you sure this is the final agreed-upon plan?”
“That’s right, this is the strongest Soldier Puppet combining modern technology and ancient civilization – it’s a man’s romance!” Jiang Feiyang said, walking to the Mechanical Warhorse and stroking its metal-gloss body, looking intoxicated.
To this, Xia Yu could only roll her eyes and raise the strange weapon in her hand, saying, “Do I need to condense this too? Can’t you just condense it into one piece? Why make so many components?”
“I told you! The higher the simulation degree of the Soldier Puppet model, the stronger the spirituality and combat power it condenses. These condensed Soldier Puppets, once activated by me, must use these weapons, and these weapons’ models must be detachable too. Do you think we can just engrave a weapon in hand like street goods? That recovered puppet would be a defective piece flailing a stick without putting it down. All Soldier Puppets need to resemble the original, being fully detachable and reassembleable!” Jiang Feiyang was furious with Xia Yu’s ignorance and reproached.
“Alright! You’re right! Let’s start condensing! Where are the materials I need for construction?” Xia Yu compromised, raising her hands and looking around the empty warehouse, asking, because these Soldier Puppets were eventually going to be placed in Jiang Feiyang’s ring for use in battle, she had to utilize existing materials for construction, rather than generating them from her own source energy.
“Use these!” Pei Yan said, raising his hand to reveal rows of black iron ingots emanating mysterious metal luster. While patting the iron ingots, Pei Yan proudly said, “These materials are a mixture I’ve gathered from Hell, Taoism, Dragon Realm, and various rare metals of our world. They’re not only extremely hard but also have pretty good resistance to source energy. Don’t be stingy with materials during model condensation, the key body construction should all use solid material. Once Jiang Feiyang initiates the Soldier Puppet and activates it, my ability can more easily transform it, and its combat power will increase significantly.”
“Pei Yan! I absolutely love you!” Upon seeing Pei Yan take out the resources, Jiang Feiyang’s eyes shone as if he wanted to rush over and kiss him.
With everything ready, the next phase was Xia Yu’s task: turning these metals into proportional metal models suitable for mechanical clones. Although Xia Yu considered this an easy task, it turned out to be quite challenging. Initially, the conversion ratios were wrong, and after solving the ratio problem, assembling parts with the Soldier Puppet became a challenge—either the size was wrong or the parts wouldn’t fit, or if they did fit, they wouldn’t assemble seamlessly like the prototype. In this process, the three collaborated and worked together for more than an hour before successfully assembling the first perfectly detachable Soldier Puppet.
Looking at this finished product, the trio let out a sigh of relief, exhausted. Jiang Feiyang couldn’t wait to use his abilities to escalate it to real human size. After a moment of distraction with the Soldier Puppet before them, it knelt on one knee to express allegiance to him and Pei Yan, making the pair feel that all the prior effort was worthwhile.
