Chapter 1485: Chapter 1485: Gathering of Experts
Standing beside Pei Yan, Samikina, as someone directly related to the incident, has already demonstrated the attitude of the Demon Race of the Hell Plane. Therefore, when Pei Yan and his group walked out of the camp and arrived in front of the Council City’s army, five people from the opposing side flew out to meet them.
Among these five, Pei Yan only recognized two: one was the Audess Witch he negotiated with during a previous mission, and the other was Azote, the president of the Alchemy Association, who once modified his body. Given Azote’s past assistance, Pei Yan offered him sufficient respect, nodding and bending slightly in a show of deference.
After the other returned the courtesy, Pei Yan straightened up and smiled at Audess, saying, "Audess Witch, it’s been a while. I’ve returned here at the scheduled time. I wonder if the three councils have come up with a reply for me?"
In response to Pei Yan’s direct query, Audess smiled and replied evasively, "Mr. Pei Yan, I am not qualified to provide the answer you seek. Today, I am merely a presenter. These esteemed individuals are the ones who will negotiate this matter with you."
As she spoke, Audess turned and first pointed to Azote, who was furthest from her, saying, "This is Mr. Azote, president of the Alchemy Association, an old acquaintance of yours whom I think needs no introduction."
Then Audess pointed to a witch beside her and introduced with a respectful tone, "This is the leader of all witches, the Saint Violet Witch Hecate of the Witch Public Assistance Association."
The introduced Hecate nodded slightly to Pei Yan as a greeting, and Pei Yan, very politely, raised his hand to remove his hat and returned the nod. This was Pei Yan’s first time learning the full name of the witch organization, discovering that it was not called the Witch Association but the Witch Public Assistance Association.
"This is the leader of all mages, Tower of the Mage Association’s First Mage, Grand Holy Mage Aleister Shem." Audess continued the introductions in sequence.
Pei Yan, holding his hat in both hands in front of his abdomen, also politely bowed in greeting, and this affable Grand Holy Mage likewise removed his old wizard hat and bent in a courteous bow to Pei Yan, expressing his goodwill.
"This is Archbishop Urban of the Bright Church, who oversees the Inquisition." Audess introduced the last of the five to Pei Yan.
In the introductions of the first two, Audess had used titles like all witches and all mages, but for Urban, she did not do so. Pei Yan, with some understanding of the Magic Plane, could understand why. There are many archbishops within the Bright Church, and their highest leader, apart from the deified supreme being, is the Pope. Yet this Pope may not be the person with the strongest combat abilities, and candidates for the Pope position are usually archbishops with sufficient seniority and the utmost devotion to the supreme god. Thus, such occasions aren’t suitable for the Pope to negotiate personally.
Having understood this, Pei Yan also didn’t nitpick but bowed in greeting to Urban. Compared to the relatively enthusiastic responses of the first two, Urban’s response was much colder, merely nodding slightly in acknowledgment.
Pei Yan’s lips curved slightly, not saying much more, he turned to Audess witch and gesturing towards Samikina beside him said, "The composition of those I’m bringing along is not so complex, so there’s no need for a detailed introduction. This gentleman, I believe all of you seniors have met before, is Miss Sifuer’s grandfather, Mr. Samikina."
Samikina stepped forward, cleared his throat, and declared, "I am here with no other intention but to once again declare the stance of the Holy City and my family to the plane envoys present. That is, I fully delegate to Prince Silver Wing Pei Yan, representing the Samikina Clan and Bailang Family, the authority to negotiate, pursue recompense, and manage all affairs related to the resolution of the matter concerning my granddaughter, Duchess Sifuer, and her subordinates being harmed, with the three councils."
Samikina’s statement, transmitted via various record magical artifacts carried by each plane’s envoys, was conveyed to the relay screens of several planes. This declaration signaled the stance of the Demon Race Holy City, granting Pei Yan the right to denounce the three councils.
"Alright! Now, I suppose no one doubts whether I have the authority to intervene in this matter. So, who will tell me what Council City’s view is on my proposal?" Pei Yan asked, smiling as he placed his hat back atop his head, adjusting the brim as he faced the five people.
Among the five, Audess voluntarily took a step back at this moment. Despite being on equal footing with the other four in terms of realm, differences in strength exist within a realm, not to mention there’s a disparity in status. Additionally, Audess had no desire to get involved in this dispute from the bottom of her heart.
Sharing a similar mindset was Hecate, Audess’ superior and friend. The three councils were very satisfied with Audess’ performance in previous missions, and this matter had the least connection to the Witch Public Assistance Association, so it’s unlikely she would take the lead in such an affair.
Nevertheless, someone has to step forward and address the issue. This grand assemble wasn’t for them to bury their heads in the ground like ostriches before representatives of several planes. Among them, Aleister, at the center, took the initiative to step forward.
Pei Yan saw an exceedingly kind face in this elder, dressed in an old-style mage robe, which was worn but tidy, except for his wizard hat that bore inexplicable stains, somewhat inconsistent with his appearance. Aligning his mismatched, often askew wizard hat, Aleister came forward with a somewhat apologetic smile and said, "This matter ultimately stems from Mage Flamelle, under our Mage Association. Therefore, from any angle, it should be I, as the head of the Mage Association, who discuss with Mr. Pei Yan how this matter should be resolved."
As the saying goes, one does not counter a smiling face with a punch. Even though Pei Yan was brimming with anger and intent for conflict, facing such a sincerely-minded elder, it didn’t seem appropriate to lash out directly. So, he responded with a smile, "Then I would like to hear Mr. Aleister’s perspective on this matter."
"First, I must declare that my stance on this matter aligns completely with Miss Audess’s previous statement," Aleister glanced sideways at Audis Witch behind him before continuing, "In the matter concerning Mr. Pei Yan and his investigation hall plotting violence, and subsequently harming Miss Sifuer to conceal his crime, Mr. Flamelle committed unforgivable crimes."
Upon Pei Yan and his group hearing the direct acknowledgment of Flamelle’s crimes from the other side, they were momentarily surprised but then quickly understood. This matter was a trap meticulously set by Bloodshed, with all evidence prepared to provoke conflict, making Council City’s denial useless.
