Chapter 1510: Counterkill
Chapter 1510: Chapter 1510: Counterkill
The Holy Sword, just as Lanloste had anticipated, sliced through Pei Yan’s palm as easily as cutting a sheet of soft silk. In that instant it was as if the opponent’s bones melted before the tremendous energy of the Holy Sword. The longsword drove straight forward without the slightest obstruction, cleaving Pei Yan’s forearm into two sections, its blade reaching his chest.
Creaaak!
The sound wasn’t loud, yet in Lanloste’s ears it was no less than a thunderous metallic screech. At the same moment, the Holy Sword was firmly jammed by Pei Yan’s arm that should have been cut clean in two. Lanloste pushed hard and found he couldn’t drive it in another fraction, so he decisively switched to gripping the hilt with one hand to keep pushing, while his other hand withdrew, gathering source energy into his fingertips and shaping it into a blade-hand. He stabbed viciously toward Pei Yan’s exposed heart at his chest.
"Earth Magic enhancement. Steel Will!"
Clang!
With a roar, Lanloste’s armor along with himself transformed into an indestructible blade-hand and slammed into Pei Yan’s chest, producing a dull metallic bang. Pei Yan’s chest caved in slightly, forming a shallow pit, while Lanloste’s fingertips were twisted into a fist, injured by the recoil from that heavy impact.
At the very instant Lanloste’s blade-hand was about to touch Pei Yan’s body, all of Pei Yan’s wounds completely recovered in a flash, and the mechanization was fully completed!
"Looks like your so?called will still can’t compare to equipment forged from real gold and silver." Pei Yan mocked as he looked at the utterly stunned Lanloste. As he spoke, the severed front half of his arm had already finished healing. As the wound closed, the Holy Sword in Lanloste’s hand fused with the mechanized steel arm, becoming embedded inside Pei Yan’s body. No matter how Lanloste tried to push or pull, he could only make the Holy Sword shift slightly left and right, carving out a wound that was neither too big nor too small—but the wound would heal at the fastest speed, locking the Holy Sword firmly back in place.
"Damn it!" Lanloste, who had been pressing the sword forward, was practically ramming himself straight into Pei Yan’s embrace. Such a close distance, such a perfect opening, and yet he had failed to kill him. The opponent definitely had a top?tier Divine Artifact that could transfer damage. Missing such a perfect chance to execute Pei Yan pained Lanloste to no end, but when he saw Pei Yan raising his left arm, palm coming down toward his helmeted head, he instinctively felt a surge of terror at death. Though he had already resolved to die, that was on the premise that he could kill Pei Yan in the process—under the current circumstances, his death would be utterly meaningless.
With that thought, Lanloste didn’t hesitate for even a moment; he directly abandoned the Holy Sword in his hand and retreated at top speed. Yet he had barely stepped back half a pace when he realized he was frozen in place as if someone had cast the Body Fixing Technique on him.
Pei Yan’s palm touched the helmet Lanloste wore. There was no heavy hammer blow, no point?blank electromagnetic cannon blast—just a light pat on the faceplate. A faint rustling of metal disintegrating rang out; that helmet, into which countless believers had poured their power of faith, elevating it into a part of a Sacred Artifact, now bore a neat palm?shaped indentation Pei Yan had effortlessly slapped into it.
Lanloste was horrified. When he had fought Pei Yan before, the other man hadn’t shown such bizarre abilities. Watching Pei Yan’s palm about to reach the tip of his nose, he could no longer afford any reservations and shouted in a low voice, "Armor Shedding Technique!"
As the three words left his lips, all external control and negative effects on him were transferred onto his armor. He himself slipped free like a cicada shedding its shell, no longer under any restraint, separating from the armor and retreating at full speed.
Only after he had opened up some distance did he finally see why he had been immobilized. Several shadows extended from beneath Pei Yan’s feet, linking to his armor—those shadows were what had restricted his movement.
"Break!"
Still in motion, Lanloste held back the heart?wrenching pain and bellowed. The Holy Sword that had cleaved into Pei Yan’s arm and fused with it instantly exploded under his activation. A Divine Artifact, and one that had been driven into the enemy’s body, self?destructing—its power was naturally extraordinary. This blast almost blew Pei Yan’s entire right arm to pieces and severely damaged the right half of his torso as well. At the same time, Pei Yan’s control over the Sacred Armor left behind on the ground was severed, and under Lanloste’s summons it flew back to him, reuniting the two once more.
Lanloste had just donned the Sacred Armor and hadn’t yet prepared his next move when he suddenly felt a sharp sting on his face. Startled, he discovered that numerous spikes had grown inward inside his helmet. It was these slowly growing spikes that had caught him off guard and pierced his skin. Lanloste immediately realized this was likely the trick Pei Yan had left inside his helmet with that slap. He hastily took off the helmet and flung it aside, then checked his entire body; finding nothing abnormal, he finally let out a breath of relief.
The helmet Lanloste had thrown flashed in midair and landed in Pei Yan’s hand. His right arm had already recovered completely once again. Pei Yan reached into the helmet, lightly scraped some blood from the spikes, then withdrew his hand, slipping the blood?stained fingers into his mouth to suck on them, while his left hand rose, pulling out the Divine Artifact, Shooting Moon, and aiming it at Lanloste’s head.
Bang!
A gunshot rang out. The bullet didn’t miss by a hair, striking Lanloste’s head squarely. Without the slightest chance to resist, Lanloste, his face full of terror and confusion, had a neat round hole punched through his forehead. With his eyes wide open, unclosing even in death, he fell straight out of the air.
From the moment Lanloste charged in front of Pei Yan, to the longsword piercing Pei Yan’s body, then Pei Yan’s body completely healing and launching a counterattack, to Lanloste retreating, counterattacking again, and finally Pei Yan firing a single shot to kill Lanloste—taken together it seemed long, but in reality everything happened in the blink of an eye. In less than a minute, a Round Table Knight resurrected with peak Heavenly Dao power had fallen completely.
"What the hell just happened?" Long Jin, whose eyesight was still shallow within the void, saw this scene and exclaimed in frantic astonishment.
"Blood Poison!"
The two words were uttered almost simultaneously from opposite ends of the battlefield by Jin He Xuan and Aleister. The former had once fought alongside the current Dragon King against Delacuri in the Dragon Realm war; the latter, as the Tower of Mages’ chief Holy Mage, had dealt frequently with the Blood Race. When they saw Lanloste’s face turn dark red even before the shot was fired, they understood what had befallen him.
"Blood Poison?" Long Jin still hadn’t worked through the implications and pressed on.
"Yes, Blood Poison! Pei Yan must have done something to the inside of his armor, which is why when Lanloste re?fused with the armor, he acted like he’d seen a ghost and immediately threw his helmet away." At this point Jin He Xuan paused, puzzled.
"It’s a Divine Artifact!" On the other side of the crowd, within the Demon Race ranks, Samikina heard their discussion and spoke up in response.
