Chapter 1512: Forbidden Curse Ring
Chapter 1512: Chapter 1512: Forbidden Curse Ring
In a moment of crisis, Annie naturally wouldn’t choose to stand idly by. Her uncontrollable body lunging forward, she raised her hands, aiming to grab at the space before her. Suddenly, Zheng Jia Ru and Xia Yu felt dizzy as if the world was spinning around them. Their combined attack on Annie abruptly turned its trajectory mid-flight, causing Zheng Jia Ru’s fist to swing towards Xia Yu’s head and Xia Yu’s condensed iron sword to sweep towards Zheng Jia Ru’s stomach.
Spirit attack! Directly controlling a person’s consciousness, this is one of the Witch’s specialized techniques for attacking. If Annie were up against cultivators with weak will from mid-low levels, she could directly erase their consciousness, turning them into living corpses, or she could manipulate their consciousness to make them her servants for a short time. However, when facing opponents of the same level, she could only catch them off guard by affecting their consciousness in an instant.
Upon realizing something was amiss and struggling to resist, the two immediately changed their attack direction. Zheng Jia Ru’s fist forcibly twisted to pass by Xia Yu’s cheek, while Xia Yu discharged the electromagnetic power on the longsword, changing the attack to a stab, the sword point being blocked by Zheng Jia Ru’s source qi defense.
Successfully resolving this immediate crisis, Annie broke free from control and quickly withdrew, moving towards her companions. Regardless of how powerful a Witch is, facing the pincer attack from two experts with near-monster melee skills is always a headache! For this reason, she desperately needed the protection of the Light Church Knight to create an attacking distance, but another person appeared in her retreat path.
Pei Jin!
Simultaneously controlling the spiritual will of two experts was already Annie’s limit. Facing the sudden attack initiated by Pei Jin, she could no longer use the same method. Thus, she raised her arm, and three fiery ravens shot from her fingertips, heading straight for Pei Jin.
Annie wished only to slow down the opponent’s attack process. Any possibility, whether Pei Jin dodged or broke through the fiery ravens’ obstruction, was within Annie’s expectations. Yet, the opponent did something unexpected. Pei Jin lifted a finger, mimicking Annie’s exact move, and then three fiery ravens, radiating the same aura as Annie’s, surged from her fingertips. The six fiery ravens collided in the air, resulting in three loud explosive roars.
At this moment, Annie could spare no time to observe Pei Yan’s shocking move of killing Lanloste on the other side. She was completely shaken by Pei Jin’s act of simulating the magic attack, and in this brief moment of distraction, her vision went black, and she fell into complete darkness.
This wasn’t simply a darkness obscuring her vision; it was a feeling of being imprisoned from the depths of her soul in darkness. Surrounded by chilling blackness, Annie was seized by the lack of direction, the panic of losing contact with the outside world, and humanity’s primal fear of darkness, making her struggle like sinking into a swamp, deeper and deeper.
Forbidden Curse! Single-target dark forbidden curse—Eternal Night Seal!
The instant Annie got hit, she realized what kind of spell she was struck by. Why could Pei Jin use the same magic as hers, and also employ a forbidden curse? Could she also be a witch?
Countless questions surged in Annie’s mind, but she had no time to ponder the answers. She must escape the predicament as soon as possible; otherwise, either the forbidden curse would increasingly erode her consciousness, plunging her into eternal darkness leading to death, or those three outside would attack her during her consciousness’s sealed gap, completely killing her.
Calming down, Annie immediately mobilized her source qi to resist the darkness’s invasion on her consciousness. Then she employed her source qi to activate light magic at one point, using her Saint Violet Witch status to forcibly break through one point of the dark seal in the shortest time possible, allowing her consciousness to escape the darkness and return to her body.
Almost as she activated the technique, a spot of light appeared in the darkness. Light magic wasn’t a witch’s expertise; Annie understood this point of light wasn’t her doing but someone from outside aiding her. Knowing she was being rescued, Annie felt at ease, concentrating on activating the light magic on that glow, working from inside and outside, quickly tearing a hole in the eternal night’s darkness, allowing her to seize the opportunity to escape through it.
"Huff! Huff!" As her consciousness returned to her body, Annie felt as if she’d walked through death’s door, and she couldn’t help but gasp for fresh air, once again experiencing the outside warmth. Turning her head and seeing Round Table Knight Bedivere beside her, she breathed a sigh of relief, realizing it was him who saved her at the critical moment. Assured of her safety, she looked over to Pei Jin and the other two across her.
Seeing their encircled target rescued, the three refrained from attacking further, regrouping together. Facing Annie’s resentful gaze, Pei Jin ignored it, casually tossing a gold coin that had somehow appeared in her hand.
"Is she a witch?" Annie asked, adjusting her breath, puzzled as she stared at Pei Jin.
Beside her, Bedivere, who had once participated in the Sword Discussion Conference, shook his head in denial: "No! She’s not a witch! Her ability is merely unique, allowing her to mimic the attacks of her enemies, and coupled with her condition as Child of Origin, she was able to replicate your identical fiery raven attack."
"You’re wrong! Even if she’s Child of Origin with special abilities, she clearly just released a dark forbidden curse, Eternal Night Seal! That’s a forbidden curse; I don’t think it’s something that can be replicated so easily." Annie fiercely refuted Bedivere’s statement.
"You’re right; she couldn’t replicate the forbidden curse in such a short period. But she indeed isn’t a witch. The reason she accomplished this is because of using a Forbidden Curse Ring." Aleister’s voice rose from behind, Annie furrowed her brow, hastily looking at Pei Jin’s hands. What she saw shocked her; on Pei Jin’s right hand, which was tossing the gold coin, were not one but three rings—the dark Forbidden Curse Ring used to cast Eternal Night, along with two others emanating the magical aura of forbidden curses.
"That’s~!" At this moment, Annie recalled the battle between Flamel and Ye Ruozai during the Sword Discussion Conference. But before the words left her mouth, she swallowed them down, for that battle was considered a disgrace by all mages in the Mage Tower, and she dared not mention it before Aleister.
Aleister, gazing at Pei Jin, Zheng Jia Ru, and Xia Yu’s fingers adorned with rings, felt overwhelmed with both sorrow and anger. These ten Forbidden Curse Rings and their matching curse secret dolls were practically divine artifacts amongst artifacts. In theory, if given to any mage, even if their personal level wasn’t enough, or they’d never learned the forbidden curse, as long as their magic source qi sufficed to support the curse’s release, they could, by simultaneously injecting qi into the secret doll and Forbidden Curse Ring, swiftly unleash a forbidden curse.
