Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce
Chapter 777: Kill
Hearing him say this, Iris Yates’s heart gave a sudden lurch. She wondered what he meant. Was he really jealous of a little cat? Had he completely lost his mind?
William Quinn’s face was devoid of expression, but his words sent chills down her spine. "I think I’ll just get rid of you. That way, my baby will only be able to touch me. No, better yet, I should just kill you. Then my baby won’t be constantly thinking about you."
"No!" Iris’s eyes went wide. She immediately cried out to stop him, looking at him with pleading eyes. "Don’t hurt it!"
The little cat was so innocent. If it died because of her, the guilt would eat her alive!
William turned his head to look at her. A pitiful, aggrieved look resurfaced in his blue eyes. "See? How long have you even known it? It hasn’t even been an hour, and you’re already treating it so well. I love you so much, and we’ve been together for so long, yet you still refuse to smile at me of your own accord. Baby, tell me, how could I not be jealous of it?"
Listening to his utter nonsense and twisted logic, Iris took a deep breath before asking, "What do you want me to do?"
William rested his head against her chest again. "Pet me. Just like you were petting it."
Iris immediately reached out and stroked his hair, her movements steady and gentle. A look of deep satisfaction bloomed on William’s face. She was finally willing to pet him.
After a while, he grew dissatisfied with just simple strokes and made another demand. "Kiss me."
Suppressing her reluctance, Iris leaned in and gave him a perfunctory peck. Even so, William was thrilled. Because of that, even Mimi looked a bit more pleasing to his eyes.
Just then, his phone rang. He glanced at the screen and immediately said, "Baby, I need to take this. You and Mimi play for a bit." He planted a hard kiss on her lips, then stood up and left the room.
Iris let out a massive sigh of relief. Slipping off the sofa, she scooped up the little cat and retreated into its designated room. After shutting the door, she gently stroked the animal, her eyes clouded with an unspeakable sorrow.
She wondered what she should do. She missed home so much. Right now, little Mimi was the only thing that brought her a shred of comfort. She held the cat tightly, clinging to it as if it were a lifeline.
Several of William’s cargo ships had run into trouble. His subordinates reported that they had been attacked by pirates, and two of his most trusted aides on board had been taken hostage. The cargo on those ships was worth three hundred million. If they failed to fulfill the orders on time, the compensation he would have to pay wouldn’t just be three hundred million—it would triple.
Upon hearing this news, William’s expression darkened terribly. This time, he had to handle the situation personally. But he had only just returned, and the last thing he wanted was to be separated from his baby.
"Mr. Quinn, the situation is critical. What should we do now?" his subordinate asked urgently.
A dark, ruthless glint surfaced in William’s blue eyes. He sneered and said, "I will depart in three hours. Also, send a status update on Walker Grant and Chloe Reed to Ms. Holloway."
"Yes, sir."
Disconnecting the call, William stood in the garden, his expression exceptionally grim. They wanted to play a deadly game with him? Then he would entertain them to the bitter end.
William strode back into the castle. He pushed open the door to the pet room, snatched Mimi out of Iris’s arms, and tossed it aside. Without missing a beat, he scooped Iris up and carried her upstairs.
