Chapter 126: Hate to Lose

The class was then dismissed, and all the students stretched their bodies. One by one, they began walking out of the auditorium. Of course, most of them would stop by the cafeteria first to have dinner before heading back to their dorms.

As Oliver was about to leave with his group, he was suddenly stopped by Ophelia and Gloria.

Ophelia’s eyes were sharp and focused, while Gloria was desperately trying to pull her away.

“Errr… hi.” Oliver waved awkwardly.

“Let’s have a rematch right now!” Ophelia declared. “That battle earlier doesn’t count. I was defeated because you used tricks in our previous fight. Let’s fight fair and square right now.”

“Eh?” Oliver blinked.

“Ophelia, let’s just go…” Gloria tried to pull her away. “We’re all tired already.” However, Ophelia refused to move and kept her stance firmly in front of Oliver.

One thing about Ophelia was that she was quiet and introverted, rarely speaking unless necessary. However, there was one trait that made her stand out from everyone else.

She hated losing.

When she won, she barely celebrated. But whenever she lost, she would keep asking for rematches until she eventually won.

It was an annoying habit to some people, but it was also one of the reasons she had become as strong as she was today.

“Hey, we’re all hungry already. If you want to fight him, then ask again later.” Max said, trying to back up Oliver.

“Yeah…” Oliver scratched his head awkwardly. “I’m afraid I can’t fight properly if I’m hungry.”

“Fine. After dinner, we’ll fight,” Ophelia replied without hesitation. Her determination hadn’t weakened in the slightest.

‘This girl… what’s wrong with her? She’s way too determined to get a rematch. Does she even know that I wasn’t going all out against her earlier? ‘ Oliver frowned inwardly.

“Sorry, but after dinner, I need to rest. I’m really tired today. We’ll have a rematch another time, alright?”Oliver smiled apologetically.

Without waiting for a response, Oliver immediately turned around and walked away with his group. Ophelia remained standing where she was.

Meanwhile, Oliver could only sigh inwardly. At this moment, he was honestly starting to regret fighting her. After knowing Ophelia’s personality, she would definitely keep pestering him for a rematch sooner or later.

Oliver then had dinner and, as usual, sat with Max’s group. Multiple pairs of eyes were still looking strangely at Oliver, who was the only student from the House of Mythragon on this floor.

However, he simply ignored the attention and enjoyed his meal with his friends. The conversation at the table mostly revolved around the competition earlier. Max and the others kept bringing up Oliver’s performance, making him feel slightly embarrassed every time they praised him.

Later that evening, Oliver returned to his room. He sat down at his desk and lit the table lamp. Under the light, he began writing a letter to his parents.

He wrote about everything. His first impression of the academy, the magnificent buildings and facilities, the opening ceremony, the students he had met. And, of course, the ice-breaking competition.

As he wrote, he found himself smiling from time to time. So much had happened in just a single day. Before he knew it, the letter was finished.

Oliver carefully folded it and placed it inside a small envelope. He planned to send it through the academy’s postal service tomorrow.

He then sat on the bed and brought out the Evolution Orb. He looked at the beautiful swirling rainbow colors inside it before glancing at all of his monsters, who were currently gathered in his room.

All of them were always complaining that it was boring staying inside the system, so whenever Oliver was in his room, they would come out on their own.

Oliver could only sigh at his monsters. Luckily, when they came out by themselves, his mana consumption was not affected.

Oliver then fell into deep thought. Which monster should he evolve first? Right now, he had five monsters, excluding Zepharion, who was a fusion monster.

He still didn’t know what requirements each monster needed to fulfill before they could evolve, as the feature would only unlock once he reached Level 15.

‘This weekend, while helping Max and his group tame monsters, I also want to farm as many Dominion Cores and Tamer Coins as possible. I need to find a new weapon too. The Assault Dagger feels too weak now.’ Oliver looked at the dagger he had just summoned.

The dagger had been his companion for the past five years. Of course, it held sentimental value. It had witnessed Oliver’s growth from the very beginning and had accompanied him through countless battles.

However, he couldn’t rely on it forever. He needed to find a new weapon that could match his current strength.

After that, Oliver put away all of his belongings and lay down on his bed. It was only the first day of the academy, yet he was already this tired.

The next day, their first class was Monster Fundamentals.

“Sit down, everyone! My name is Professor Pazala, and I will be responsible for teaching all of you about monsters.”

A middle-aged woman with blonde hair stood at the front of the classroom. She wore the red robes of the House of Solmire, while a cat-like monster rested on the table beside her. Wrinkles were clearly visible on her face, although she seemed to be trying to cover them with makeup.

“So, before we begin, can any of you tell me how many types of monsters exist in this world?”

Professor Pazala looked around the classroom before pointing at one of the students.

“Okay, you, young lady.”

“Err… ten, Professor?”

“Nope. How about you?” Pazala pointed at another student.

“Twenty?”

“Not even close. You.”

“Fifty!”

“Hmm…wrong.”

She continued pointing at students around the classroom, but every answer was wrong as they simply threw out random numbers.

Even Oliver was wrong when he answered one hundred.

The questioning continued until one student raised his hand. He was a student from the House of Seraphyne, wearing spectacles with neatly oiled hair.

“Yes, please tell me.” Pazala said.

“Ehem…” He cleared his throat. “The answer is unlimited. There is no end to the types of monsters.” He said it proudly.

“Yes! Finally, someone who did the reading before class. Thank you, young lad. What is your name?” Pazala asked.

“My name is Gregory Netheridge, the only son and heir of House Netheridge,” he answered proudly.

“Tch! The professor only asked for his name, not his status!” Max smirked. He hated this type of noble.

However, Oliver ignored him. What interested him more was the answer to the question.

‘Unlimited? So there are actually an infinite number of monster types…’ Oliver felt excited just thinking about it.
