Overlord: The Multiverse
Chapter 456: One Piece
The ocean breeze hit my face as I suddenly found myself standing on soft sand. A vast blue sea stretched out before me, and behind me, a thick jungle loomed—untamed and wild. The skies were clear, the sun blazing overhead, and the sound of waves crashing gently against the shore confirmed what I’d hoped:
I was out of the portal.
And judging by the gentle aura of the world, the feeling of power in the air... I had arrived at the correct time.
The One Piece world. Present day. I think.
I glanced around slowly. No ships in sight. No people. Just a small cove with a beach untouched by civilization. That was both a relief and a problem.
I raised my hand, now fully restored. My arm had regenerated, thanks to my body’s passive abilities. Death may have sealed my offensive power and magic, but my regeneration and survival skills were still active.
I sat down on a flat rock and stared out into the ocean.
"I wonder how much of my power she sealed off," I thought.
I stretched my hand and cast [Fire Ball], a 1st-tier spell. Which casted flawlessly, then I casted 2nd-tier, 3rd-tier, 4th-tier, and 5th-tier spells. When I tried to cast 6th tier, I couldn’t.
"So I can cast up upto 5th tier magic, and it seems she also didn’t seal my super tier magic. Now for my physical strength." I touched my earring, and just as I took it, its shape turned into a great sword. My [World Champion] class item, Doombringer, I acquired after becoming [World Champion] back in YGGDRASIL.
I don’t really need to use it. Doombringer is one of the heaviest things I acquired. Before my power was sealed, I could easily lift her, but I don’t know the current me.
Doombringer which took it original shape clanged into the sand like a falling mountain, its weight alone shaking the air as it dug a crater beneath it. The very sand beneath my feet seemed to vibrate under the immense pressure.
I looked down at it. Doombringer—a massive, black greatsword etched with golden runes that shimmered faintly with suppressed authority. It radiated the pressure of a calamity, a weapon not made to be wielded by mortals. Or even most gods.
In YGGDRASIL, Doombringer was one of the few weapons that required a full set of parameters maxed out to even be lifted. It was a symbol. A title. Proof that I had become the [World Champion]—the strongest among countless players, the king who stood at the apex of PvP.
But now?
I bent my knees, gripped the hilt with one hand, and pulled.
...Nothing.
My arm trembled slightly.
Tch. Definitely sealed.
I placed my other hand on the hilt and pushed my feet deeper into the sand, gathering all the strength I could muster in this weakened state. My muscles tensed. Sand kicked back in small bursts. I grunted once—and the blade rose.
Slowly.
Barely.
"Damn..." I muttered. "I can’t even swing it properly."
Still, I held it up. Even in this state, I was able to at least lift it. That was a relief. Death hadn’t sealed my strength completely. I could feel it—it was just buried. Dormant. Like trying to roar with lungs half-full.
I stabbed Doombringer back into the ground and sat back down.
So far, my observations were:
Magic was limited to 5th-tier, with Super Tier spells still accessible.
Physical strength was drastically reduced, but regeneration and durability remained intact.
Skills and class abilities were likely limited or sealed, though I’d need more tests to confirm which ones.
I pulled my knees back up and rested my arms again. The ocean breeze carried the scent of salt and something sweet—mangoes, maybe. I was definitely somewhere tropical.
Cocytus and Narberal hadn’t emerged with me.
I wasn’t too worried for their safety—they were absolute monsters, both of them.
Stronger than anything this world had to offer. But their absence meant I’d need to wait or search for them myself. The portal had clearly broken the timeline barrier. I could’ve ended up in any era. Hell, I did end up in the past already.
I just hoped Cocytus and Narberal didn’t land somewhere too far off from now.
I tried accessing my system again.
{Out of Service}
Still nothing.
"Tch... Death really wasn’t kidding." I muttered. "She’s probably fighting something beyond my understanding if she sealed my system too."
I pulled my knees up and rested my arms on them.
I wasn’t worried, not really. I knew she’d never let me get truly hurt. But the uncertainty... that was new. I didn’t like not knowing.
The corner of my mouth curved up. "Well then... One Piece. Let’s see what kind of trouble you’ve got for me."
