Overlord: The Multiverse
Chapter 459: Back at Nazarick
"Oh, that’s a long name," Luffy said, tilting his head as he tried to mouth the syllables. "Alexander... Sedi-something... Von... Morty?"
"It’s Seductus Von Mortis," I repeated slowly.
"Yeah, that’s what I said! Morty!" Luffy grinned proudly.
I sighed. "Just call me Alex."
"Alex!" Luffy beamed. "Now that’s easy!"
Koby chuckled quietly. "You’ll get used to it. Luffy kind of... simplifies everything."
"I’m noticing that," I said, smirking.
"Wait, wait!" Luffy suddenly sat up straighter, his eyes sparkling like a kid who just got an idea. "How about I call you ’Captain Vacation’?" Sounds cooler!"
"No," I said instantly.
"Vice Vacation?"
"No."
"General Vacation?"
"Luffy, stop," Koby said, shaking his head.
Luffy pouted. "Fine. Alex. Boring."
I leaned back in the boat, letting the sea breeze wash over me. "Boring is good. "Boring means peace."
"Nah," Luffy said, laying back beside me. "Peace is great—but a little chaos makes life fun."
I smirked. "Spoken like someone destined to turn the world upside down."
"You think so?" he asked.
"I know so."

The portal shimmered and vanished the moment Alex stepped through.
Albedo blinked once, her heart steady. This wasn’t unusual. In every previous world jump, the gate would vanish temporarily. Only after Lord Alex stabilized his connection to the new world would the permanent portal reform, making travel between worlds possible again.
It was routine.
Or so she thought.
Behind her, the still-standing portals to the Demon Slayer world, the High School DxD world, and even the New World—each one linked through enormous magical stabilizers—suddenly flickered.
Then, one by one, they collapsed.
The one to DxD sparked violently, then burst into mana flames before imploding. The New World portal twisted in on itself like a collapsing star. The last, to Demon Slayer, trembled for a moment before a deafening crack split the air—and it too vanished.
The portal chamber went silent.
Even the magical hum of ambient energy faded.
Albedo froze.
This wasn’t supposed to happen.
She took a breath, calming her sudden surge of dread. Don’t panic. There must be an explanation—an environmental surge in the new world, perhaps, or a disruption in spatial layering. Demiurge had explained a dozen contingencies for this sort of event.
But even so... all portals failing simultaneously?
That meant something more than a simple delay.
Something catastrophic.
Her eyes narrowed. With practiced speed, she activated her communication mirror, sending out a high-priority directive.
"Shalltear, Aura, Mare, Sebas—report to the portal chamber immediately. Emergency protocol: Sovereign Veil."
Even as she gave the order, she turned and began issuing commands to the guardians stationed in the Great Tomb’s depths.
"You!" she pointed at the nearest homunculus maid. "Dispatch a recon team to every floor. Triple the security checkpoints. No one enters Nazarick without approval—not even if they resemble our allies."
The maid bowed deeply. "At once, Lady Albedo!"
Another golem assistant approached, awaiting orders.
"Seal the treasury gate. Route all World Item containment sectors into passive defensive state. Activate Nazarick’s full Guardian Field. If anything unknown appears near the tomb... kill it. Without hesitation."
"Yes, Lady Albedo!"
The floor vibrated as Shalltear Bloodfallen flash-stepped into the chamber, followed moments later by Aura and Mare, the elf twins arriving together, and Sebas Tian in his usual formal wear—though his eyes gleamed with sharp concern.
Shalltear was the first to speak. "Albedo? What happened?"
"They’re gone," Albedo said sharply, eyes locked on the now-empty dais. "All of them."
"What?" Aura’s voice cracked slightly.
Albedo turned to face them all, keeping her voice as cold and commanding as steel. "Lord Alex has crossed into another world—but this time, something has severed all inter-world connections. The permanent gates to the DxD, Demon Slayer, and New World have all closed. And as of this moment, we have no way of reestablishing contact."
Mare’s expression turned pale. "B-But... Yuri Alpha is still in the DxD world. Demiurge is in the New World..."
"And Cocytus and Narberal entered the portal with Lord Alex," Sebas added grimly.
Shalltear clenched her fists, fangs bared. "This smells like a trap."
"Possibly," Albedo replied. "Or perhaps even something more fundamental—a war between concepts. Lord Alex, before he enter the portal, told me to keep my calm, no matter the situation and protect Nazarick. So Whatever the case, until we know more, Nazarick must remain untouchable. You all know what’s at stake."
Sebas stepped forward. "What are your orders, Overseer?"
Albedo exhaled once.
"We initiate Fortress Lockdown Protocol. Shalltear, guard the first three floors and the entrance gate. Aura, Mare—fortify the Sixth Floor and spread your magical beasts across the perimeter. If any foreign entities cross into our territory, I want them dismembered before they can utter a word. Sebas, maintain order within the tomb and reinforce our internal communication network. No misinformation is to spread among our forces."
"What of Demiurge and the others?" Mare asked softly.
Albedo’s golden eyes narrowed. "They are strong. They will hold out. And Lord Alex... he is more than strong."
She turned her gaze toward the ceiling, her voice softening just slightly. "He will return. He always does."
"I should call Lady Death to see what going on." Albedo murmur to herself.
