Chapter 475: Giant Lanternfish Sneak Attack? Sent Flying With a Punch!
The underwater mountain range.
Ning Fei spotted a glowing object ahead. The light was incredibly faint; if not for his sharp eyesight, it would have been easily overlooked.
Climbing a mountain on the seafloor was much faster than on land. By simply following the buoyancy and floating upward, he could ascend continuously.
He noticed that the mountain was covered in a wide variety of aquatic plants.
"The environment down here is a bit peculiar," Ning Fei said.
"The underwater mountain is completely overgrown with aquatic plants."
"Furthermore, the sheer number of fish I've seen on the way down indicates that these waters are extremely nutrient-rich."
"Looking at it this way, there might really be some unexpected surprises hidden in this sea area."
As he spoke, Ning Fei drew closer to the glowing spot.
The Tuna Submarine followed him, flicking on its headlights to illuminate the path ahead."What is that thing?"
"It looks like a gemstone!"
"There are gems on the seafloor?"
The viewers had also noticed the glowing object and were exclaiming in amazement.
Ning Fei swam closer, carefully inspecting the object resting on the mountain.
"It's actually a mirror. The glow I saw earlier was just reflected light."
"Which means the true light source is off to my side, on the same horizontal level."
Ning Fei turned his head, looking toward where the light was actually emanating from.
The viewers were stunned.
"What kind of eyesight is that? He can see such a tiny glimmer in the dark world of the seafloor, and it was just a reflection from a mirror?"
"If you're in pitch darkness, any light at all would stand out clearly, right?"
"Temple Master Ning's vision is seriously incredible. I'm starting to suspect he has a clairvoyance skill."
"No need to panic, everyone. He's an immortal, after all; whatever he sees is perfectly normal."
"But why would there be a mirror on the seafloor? And embedded in the mountain like that."
Anticipating the viewers' confusion, Ning Fei explained.
"There are many wrecked ships and planes down here. As they sank, the immense water pressure crushed their internal structures, scattering debris everywhere."
"So, finding a fallen mirror in the Bermuda Triangle isn't all that unusual."
"The real light source is over there."
"In the mirror, the light was rather blurry, but looking directly at it now, it's much clearer."
Ning Fei swam steadily toward the glow.
Right at that moment, his Danger Perception skill suddenly triggered a warning signal.
Sensing the threat, Ning Fei immediately recoiled, but he was a step too late!
Where the light illuminated the seafloor, the thick bed of algae violently thrashed. A massive fish head, over a meter wide, burst out from the muck!
The creature lunged with terrifying speed. In a split second, a cold sweat broke out over the viewers watching the stream.
"Fuck!"
The sudden jump-scare caused some viewers to literally throw their mobile phones, cursing loudly in the process.
The colossal head was barreling straight at Ning Fei.
Watching from a first-person perspective, the sheer terror of the scene made the viewers' hearts leap into their throats.
Ning Fei instantly fired up his Underwater Jet Device to thrust himself upward, but it still wasn't fast enough.
In that electrifying instant, danger loomed on all sides!
The viewers watched the stream in a mix of horror and panic, everyone convinced that Ning Fei was doomed. But the next moment, something entirely unexpected happened.
The massive fish snapped its bloody maw wide open like a terrifying ghoul from the underworld. Going with the momentum, Ning Fei clenched his fist, dropped into a slight crouch, planted his feet firmly against the underwater mountain, and delivered a vicious uppercut.
Exerting force underwater was already incredibly difficult, let alone against such a horrifying deep-sea monster.
Yet, Ning Fei's uppercut smashed directly into the underside of the fish's jaw, sending the strange, glowing creature flying backward with a single punch.
This...
The viewers were entirely dumbfounded.
It all happened so fast that their brains simply couldn't process it.
The livestream plunged into a few seconds of dead silence before the chat exploded once more.
The foreign viewers, in particular, were spamming comments like crazy.
"He is practically a god!"
"Is this even real?"
"Every single thing this Huaxia person does challenges my understanding of reality!"
"Unbelievable! Unbelievable!"
"Huaxia people are terrifying. They really do all know kung fu."
"I think my eyes just played tricks on me! Was that actually real?"
"That was so damn cool!"
Seeing that dodging upward was no longer an option, Ning Fei had used the leverage of his feet against the seafloor to deliver that powerful uppercut.
The immense water pressure of the deep sea typically sapped away most of a person's physical strength, yet Ning Fei had still managed to punch a colossal monster fish into a tumble.
How had he done it?
While the viewers were amazed, the people who were truly shocked speechless were the marine biologists.
Given the massive pressure at that depth, if converted into raw force, Ning Fei's punch must have carried at least two to three thousand jin of power!
Was that even a level a human being could reach?
"It was a species of giant lanternfish," Ning Fei said.
"There are quite a few lanternfish in the deep sea. They bury their bodies beneath the seafloor muck or algae, leaving only a glowing organ exposed outside, like they're carrying a lantern."
"If prey approaches, the lanternfish will swiftly attack and devour it."
"This is exactly how they hunt."
"However, a deep-sea lanternfish of this size is quite rare."
Ning Fei took a few shallow breaths of fresh air from his gear and spoke softly.
The lanternfish from just a moment ago had a head roughly the size of a manhole cover and a body about a meter long. It looked exceptionally robust.
When it opened its giant maw, the viewers could even see the jagged, menacing fangs lining its mouth.
Such a deep-sea monster was enough to instill inescapable terror into anyone's heart.
Yet this horrifying beast had just been sent flying by a single punch from Ning Fei?
After being punched away, the giant lanternfish didn't dare press the attack. It simply flicked its tail and fled into the darkness.
"Deep-sea fish are generally quite timid. Unlike sharks, which will fight to the death once they attack, these fish are different."
"Deep-sea fish are much more cowardly. They prefer to rely on ambushes and sneak attacks."
"The moment they realize the situation has turned against them, they run."
Ning Fei remarked calmly as he watched the glowing light fade into the distance.
The more dangerous the situation, the clearer a person's inner strength shone through.
Maintaining absolute grace in the face of danger was when a man looked his best.
Ning Fei's calm, gentle voice continued to echo through the livestream.
Hearing his tone and watching his composed demeanor, the viewers found their own terrified hearts beginning to settle.
This crushing deep sea with its murky lighting was no different from hell in the eyes of ordinary people.
But to Ning Fei, it was as if he were taking a stroll through normal nature. To him, there was nothing to fear.
"Is he really not scared at all?"
"A true badass!"
"I have never worshipped a Huaxia person like this before."
"Yeah, there's this indescribable vibe about him, but it's incredibly captivating."
"It's the traditional Huaxia doctrine of the mean. This doctrine isn't about being mediocre; it's about maintaining a peaceful, balanced state of mind in the face of all things. It's vastly different from Mei Country, which loves showing off and worshipping violence."
"His streams are just way too amazing!"
Ning Fei's words earned him yet another wave of praise.
His deep dive into the Devil's Triangle Sea Area had already drawn immense attention, but witnessing his terrifying strength and unwavering composure left everyone utterly jaw-dropped.
At that moment, Ning Fei noticed something off.
He swam forward, cresting a small peak.
The Tuna Submarine followed close behind, keeping the camera steadily fixed on him.
Then, the new scene displayed in the broadcast made the viewers suck in a sharp breath of cold air.
Behind the peak lay a somewhat flat underwater valley, completely blanketed in thick patches of algae and other aquatic plants.
And nestled within those dense plants were roughly forty to fifty glowing spots, silently emitting a faint, eerie blue light.
The light was identical to the glow of the giant lanternfish from just moments ago.
Even Ning Fei's expression shifted slightly.
"To think there'd actually be this many giant lanternfish here?!"
