He even schemes about marriage—does he have any idea what the word "respect" means?

"Are you sure, dear?"

"He admitted it in front of His Excellency the Prime Minister—how could it be fake?"

At this, Sophie Sullivan was even more furious. "If it hadn’t been for His Excellency the Prime Minister, I’d probably still have no idea I was being played by him!"

"It’s okay, Joanne. If you don’t want marriage, no one can force you. Even if the marriage is already done, you can still be a divorcee."

Thomas Shannon really thought he could push Cecilia Branford into being with him like this?

He’s dreaming!

Using such despicable tactics to force a woman—he’s absolute scum!

Sophie Sullivan lifted her head from his embrace, a flush staining her Yvonne-pale cheek. She nodded; in her hazy gaze there was a flicker of resolve. "I want a divorcee!"

"Cecilia Branford, I’m behind you." Lucifer patted her head, his gaze soft, tinged with doting affection. "Alright, stop drinking. If you drink any more, your head will be aching again tomorrow."

Sophie Sullivan nodded woozily. Lucifer supported her arm. "I’ll help you upstairs to rest early."

"Okay." Sophie Sullivan let her whole weight lean against him, and Lucifer led her upstairs to rest early.

He had a servant remove her makeup and change her into a sleep gown. Lucifer wrung out a wet towel and wiped her face, both hands and both feet.

Watching her fall asleep in peace, Lucifer sat at the bedside, holding her hand, unable to tear his eyes away for a long length of time.

"Cecilia Branford... Cecilia Branford..." he murmured, each word laden with endless feeling and pain.

...

Hotel, inside the suite.

The tall figure man stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows, looking at the neon night view of the Capital City of Country F. The cigarette at his fingertips burned nonstop, white smoke coiling upward.

Charlie River stood not far away. Seeing this scene, he said worriedly, "Young Master, it’s getting late, you should rest early."

The man seemed not to hear, or perhaps he heard and just didn’t care.

Charlie River knew his mood was bad, and even more so had no idea how to persuade him.

Since that affair of scheming after wine at that time, Charlie River had already been worried. Although it was the most direct, brutal, and effective method, once the affair was exposed, Sophie Sullivan’s reaction was only too easy to imagine.

He hadn’t expected the affair to be exposed so fast, so fast it caught everyone off guard.

All of this was the Prime Minister’s fault.

If not for you, I fear at this very moment the Young Master at home wouldn’t have fallen out with Miss Sullivan.

"Young Master, I’ll pour you a cup of water." Chain-smoking like this wasn’t a solution.

Charlie River pour a cup of water and set it by Thomas Shannon’s hand.

Thomas Shannon didn’t take it, only smoked in silence. After blowing out a smoke ring, he finally asked coolly, "Charlie River, do you think she’ll divorcee me?"

"Young Master, do you want to hear the truth or a lie?"

Thomas Shannon turned his head, shooting him a cold sideways gaze. "Since when did you learn these tricks?"

"Young Master, don’t be angry. I’m only worried about you."

Thomas Shannon gave a cold snort and drew on his cigarette again. "The truth, of course."

"Young Master, I think Miss Sullivan will definitely divorcee you. After all, her temperament is that she doesn’t like being pushed around. Even if she likes you... she still can’t stomach you scheming against her like this. She has her pride; she’s not like other women."

Thomas Shannon let out a mirthless laugh and nodded in agreement. "You’re right, she has her pride. She’s Sophie Sullivan, not any other woman."

She was Sophie Sullivan, and also Country F’s noble Miss Cecilia Branford.

She had every right to be proud, and a temper that was innately hers.

That’s something that can’t be changed.
