Pampered by My Secret Husband
Chapter 1507: Charlie River, How Did I Treat Sophie Sullivan Before?
“Young Master, are you alright?” Charlie River watched the rearview mirror and noticed something was off about him.
Thomas Shannon was holding Snowball, Snowball’s eyes were red and swollen from crying, just like a little bunny.
Because of Thomas Shannon’s threats, she now didn’t dare cry anymore.
If she cried again, her mother would never come back…
Thomas Shannon pressed his chin against the top of Snowball’s head, gently rubbing it. “Charlie River, how did I treat Sophie Sullivan before?”
Charlie River let out a sigh. “Young Master, have you remembered something?”
“Answer me!”
Charlie River spoke truthfully. “You treated Young Madam so well you practically wanted to pluck Moony out of the sky for her. Young Madam had a fiance, and you… forcibly threatened her into staying by your side. It was also you who schemed against her, making her sign a marriage agreement while she was drunk.
Afraid he wouldn’t believe him, Charlie River added, “Young Master, if I uttered even one lie, may I die a miserable death.”
Thomas Shannon rubbed his forehead, his head aching. If what Charlie River said was true… then Sophie Sullivan, she…
He didn’t dare think any further.
Right now Thomas Shannon only wanted to make sure whether she was alright or not.
Onassis Old Castle.
Lucifer carried Sophie Sullivan out of the car, and as soon as they stepped into the main hall, William Westlake slid down from Gaby and pumped his short little legs, running hard.
“Uncle Lucifer, what’s wrong with Fennie?” He hugged Lucifer’s legs, tiptoeing and tilting his little head back, trying to get a look at Sophie Sullivan.
But his height was his weak point; no matter how much he craned his neck until it hurt, he still couldn’t see.
Lucifer lowered his head. “William Westlake, your mommy took a swim in the sea, used up too much of her strength, and now she doesn’t even have the energy to talk. Now Mommy needs to go upstairs, take a bath, and then have a good sleep. Can William Westlake be a bit quiet?”
William Westlake’s little head bobbed like a chick pecking at rice. “I can!”
With that, the well-behaved baby let go of Lucifer’s legs.
Lucifer carried Sophie Sullivan upstairs back to the bedroom, and Sophie Sullivan slid down from his arms. “I’ll wash myself.”
“That’s exactly what I had in mind.” Lucifer rubbed her head. “Go on.”
Soaking in the bathtub, Sophie Sullivan kept replaying Danielle Ashton, Thomas Shannon, and Snowball in her mind.
The three of them were the ones who really looked like a family, watching her with indifference.
She, Snowball’s biological mother, instead looked like a complete outsider, a bad person trying to snatch the child away and destroy their family of three.
She laughed at herself, finding it unbearably ironic.
She’d thought the blood tie between mother and daughter would make Snowball a little closer to her.
She’d never expected that in the end, it still didn’t work.
She had made too much of blood ties, almost mythologizing them; in the end, she and Snowball were nothing more than strangers who happened to be related by blood.
Lucifer counted the length of time and knocked on the door outside. “Dear, are you done washing?”
Sophie Sullivan pulled back from her thoughts and answered, “Done.”
As she came out from the bathroom, Lucifer handed her a cup of warm milk. “Drink up and have a good sleep, don’t think about anything.”
Sophie Sullivan gave a bitter smile. How could she not think?
Snowball was, after all, her biological daughter. Even though she had hurt her, she still couldn’t control herself from thinking about her.
The bedroom door was blown open by a little whirlwind, and William Westlake came running in, patter-patter-patter. “Fennie, Fennie…”
“What is it, William Westlake?” Sophie Sullivan had just taken a sip of milk when she saw the fiery, reckless William Westlake charging straight toward her. She handed the milk to Lucifer, then squatted down to hug him.
Caught securely by Mommy, William Westlake split his little mouth in a wide grin, smiling like a brilliant sunflower under the sun.
