Chapter 1717: Good Brothers Hand-in-Hand, Young Master Xiaowu Being Followed? (Part 2)
"Why is it me? You started attacking me first."
"Me? Mom and Dad, why don’t you ask Sis, who really started it."
...
The two were still putting on an act, preparing to make it seem even more realistic.
Jiang Chengsi had a headache, glanced at Si Qingxiao, and asked her how to resolve the situation.
He’s usually able to mix with the kids like friends, so basically, Si Qingxiao handles the education issues at home.
Si Qingxiao simply observed the two brothers. Their little tricks couldn’t fool her, but she didn’t expose them, "You’re home now and still arguing? Don’t you find it embarrassing?"
The two simultaneously fell silent.
"You’re so grown up now and still fighting outside. We really should find an opportunity to help you develop a better brotherly bond."
...
Si Qingxiao’s way of cultivating brotherly love meant that the next day, the two brothers appeared at home holding hands.
And not just holding hands, but fingers intertwined.
It was acceptable to hold hands like that when they were little, but boys at sixteen or seventeen holding hands like that felt too odd.
They were almost dying from the awkwardness.
Si Yushan and his wife saw the two brothers with injuries on their faces and holding hands, looking bewildered, and asked what happened.
"Nothing, just a good brotherly relationship," Si Qingxiao straightforwardly replied.
The brothers were about to go insane, thinking they should be holding a girl’s hand.
Holding another boy’s hand? What kind of situation is this?
Jiang Ruan was standing to the side, almost laughing her head off.
And that day, Young Master Xiaowu from Jinsang’s house came over to play with the brothers, saw them holding hands, and deliberately teased:
"What’s going on with you two? Caught each other’s eye?"
The brothers wished they could kick him.
It’s all because of your brother’s bad idea!
Their mother made them cultivate their relationship by holding hands.

Although it’s the weekend, Jiang Mutang, whom the two brothers call the "culprit," wasn’t idle at home, but went to school to finish the surgery report he hadn’t completed yesterday.
"Are you coming home for dinner?" Tang Wan asked.
Beijing Medical College has three campuses, and the one Jiang Mutang is at is in Beijing University City, so if he goes in the morning, he usually doesn’t come home for lunch. Thus, Tang Wan directly asked about dinner.
"I’ll be back for lunch."
After speaking, he left, and Tang Wan stared at the closed door.
"What’s wrong?" Jiang Jinsang was sitting on the couch watching Tang Wan sigh.
"It always feels like Mutang isn’t as close to me as he used to be as he’s grown older. Remember how cute he was as a child? As long as it was the weekend, he’d ask me to take him out to play."
"He’s grown up now; if he were still hanging onto you like when he was a child, that would be abnormal. Boys should have their own ways, striving for what they’re pursuing." Jiang Jinsang thought it was fine.
At this moment, his phone vibrated with Qi Zeyan’s message about an outing planned for the evening.
When the kids were younger, everyone focused on their small families. Once the kids grew up and depended less on their parents, making their own friends, Jiang Jinsang’s group had more opportunities to gather frequently.
Tang Wan continued to lament her son’s changes, "Actually, ever since Tinglan joined the military, he’s always been independent..."
Nonetheless, learning Mutang would be home for lunch, Tang Wan was quite happy and already thinking about what to cook.
...
Jiang Mutang had no idea about his mother’s sentiments, already taking the subway to school.
During his post-college entrance exam summer break, Zhou Zhongqing gifted him a car after he got his driver’s license. It wasn’t expensive but sufficient for commuting.
However, as a student, driving to school was too conspicuous, and with severe traffic in Beijing, sometimes taking the car wasn’t as fast as the subway. Hence, he usually took the subway to school.
Although it was the weekend, freshman students weren’t on vacation and were training at the sports field, so even from a distance, the loud whistle sounds were audible.
Jiang Mutang bypassed the sports field, went to the library to borrow a few books. On weekends, the library had no administrators but allowed self-service borrowing, which was convenient.
Carrying the books, he headed straight for an old building with black walls and red tiles, where the professor he followed worked. Usually, graduate students gathered there for surgical experiments and report writing.
When Jiang Mutang pushed the door open, there were three senior students inside, and he greeted them one by one.
"Coming over on the weekend?"
"Just to write a report."
The three had been talking, but seeing Jiang Mutang about to write the report after opening his computer, they went outside.
This office building was very old, reportedly having a century’s history. Standing in the hallway, although they lowered their voices, Jiang Mutang could still faintly hear their conversation.
"...Why isn’t that kid coming yet? He wouldn’t still be in bed, would he? Didn’t we agree to this? The girls are supposed to be here, and he’s not answering his phone. Can he be reliable for once?"
"Should we go on our own?"
"We agreed on four people, and the junior girls are bringing four too."
...
Jiang Mutang merely listened and could easily guess they planned to meet over the weekend. In the end, it was just for a social hangout with potential dates.
He had already written part of his report the previous night, so the remaining content wasn’t much. Although he could finish it at home, it was more convenient to search for materials at school. After spending more than an hour, he was almost done and ready to leave when a group of boys and girls entered, with someone pushing the door open.
"Mutang, we’re planning to get food. Want to join us?" The senior student who entered was the one who had left earlier.
"I won’t go."
"Really not joining us?"
The senior student was actually quite pleased to hear this. Today, they had arranged to meet with some junior girls from the neighboring school, currently showing them around before going to eat. If Jiang Mutang joined, their chances of impressing the girls might diminish.
Given his face, it wasn’t just the girls who would be distracted; even when the senior first met this junior, he couldn’t resist staring for a long time.
"No, have fun."
Jiang Mutang was packing up his things when he caught sight of a girl poking her head halfway through the door.
He looked over, not expecting it to be someone familiar!
Xu Ni had been pulled along by her friends to make up numbers today, and upon hearing a familiar voice inside, peeked in to confirm. Unexpectedly...
It really was him.
So, he’s still a student too.
Jiang Mutang hadn’t anticipated seeing her again so soon.
Both acted indifferent, pretending not to know each other.
Presumably, no one knew they’d met just last night.
The senior didn’t want Jiang Mutang in their social outing initially but casually invited him again as he was about to leave, "Mutang, you really not going? We’re heading to the cafeteria; if you’re going to eat, join us."
"I’ll be going home for lunch."
"You better hurry; it’s the weekend, and the subway is packed at noon."
"Okay."
The group’s footsteps quickly faded away. Jiang Mutang was bemused to meet the girl again, having bumped into her the previous night, but didn’t mull over it, leaving with his books.
Tang Wan called to confirm when he’d be home, to avoid preparing food that might cool down.
"I might be home around twelve."
"We’ll wait for you to eat."
...
Jiang Mutang packed his belongings, secured the windows and doors, and left with his books.
The weekend at the school meant students were either sleeping in or out having fun, so few were walking around campus. He walked for a while before sensing something odd.
Someone was following him!
It was none other than the girl from last night.
Wasn’t she supposed to be off with the seniors for a social hangout?
Why was she tagging along with him?
