Path To Godhood Begins With Marrying Wife And Gaining SSS Rank Skill
Chapter 851:The Divine Sense
Chapter 851: 851:The Divine Sense
Ethan had come alone with Gu Cheng by tearing spatial nodes. That was also the way he thought he would go home, but with two more people, it made it difficult for Ethan to go through space.
This was a very big hassle, and with no portal being made, it would take so long. So they had to take a carriage.
Ethan brought three carriages and several horses. Alongside that, he had to hire some servants to take care of the young women. Though Ethan refused to treat them harshly, he didn’t stop them from continuing with their duties.
The journey would at least take three months, which was a pain in the ass for Ethan. This made Ethan promise himself that the first thing he would do after reaching home was to build portals connecting to the Eldorian Empire for quick transport.
’Three months just for travelling...’
Ethan looked at the road ahead through the carriage window and sighed.
’The portal network really needs to be completed as soon as possible.’
With nothing much to do on the way, Ethan practiced his Knight methods. At Transcendent Rank, physical practice was rarely effective. His body had already reached a level where ordinary training could no longer bring much improvement.
From this stage, you needed to start cultivating the Laws for the higher levels.
And this was where Gu Cheng gave Ethan a pleasant surprise.
On the way back, Gu Cheng and Ethan would dwell on each other’s aspects and practice while preaching to one another. Their discussions often continued for hours, and sometimes they would stop the carriage simply because one of them had gained a new understanding.
"So you are mastering Dao of Fire and Thunder." Ethan asked in surprise.
Gu Cheng nodded and explained.
"I am a body cultivator, so I use flames to temper my body, which led me to understand a bit of Fire. But as I progressed higher, I found that flames were becoming a hassle to find, so I started using lightning. For each breakthrough, we need to go through lightning tribulation, so I decided to use the strong lightning to forge my body."
Gu Cheng spoke calmly while Ethan listened carefully.
Ethan was impressed by this.
During their previous exchange, Ethan had found himself falling short. If not for the Draconic Transformation, he was sure that he couldn’t contend with Gu Cheng’s physical body.
’This guy’s body really is troublesome.’
Ethan became curious about his understanding and asked more about it. Gu Cheng didn’t hide anything and exchanged his understanding of the Dao with Ethan.
Their discussion continued as the carriage moved along the road.
Sometimes Ethan would explain his understanding of Fire and Lightning from the perspective of his world’s magic, while Gu Cheng would explain how cultivators understood the same Laws through cultivation.
The two sides were completely different, but they still had many similarities.
Ethan tried to use this knowledge to assimilate it into his own understanding and see if he could pry into Divine Sense.
He sat quietly inside the carriage and closed his eyes.
His mana slowly moved through his body as he tried to extend his awareness outside.
He focused on his soul and tried to imitate the method Gu Cheng had explained.
Nothing happened yet Ethan tried again.
He changed the flow of his energy and focused on his consciousness. He tried to push his perception beyond his body, but every time he reached a certain point, something seemed to stop him.
Ethan opened his eyes and frowned.
’Why can’t I do it?’
He tried several more times, but no matter how Ethan tried, he wasn’t able to project his Divine Sense outside.
He slowly leaned back against the carriage and fell into thought.
’Is it because I am too fixated on my soul’s state?’
His understanding of the soul was completely different from Gu Cheng’s. He had never cultivated a Nascent Soul, and his path had always been based on his own system of power.
Perhaps trying to copy Gu Cheng’s method directly was the wrong approach.
Ethan looked out of the carriage window at the distant mountains.
He had always relied on his eyes, senses and various abilities to perceive the world.
But Divine Sense was different.
It wasn’t simply another sense.
It was an extension of one’s consciousness.
Ethan rubbed his chin as another thought appeared in his mind.
’If I want to understand Divine Sense, perhaps I shouldn’t try to force my soul to do it.’
He glanced toward Gu Cheng, who was quietly meditating inside the carriage.
’Maybe I need to understand what my consciousness actually is first.’
Ethan decided to stop constricting his soul.
If Divine Sense was an extension of one’s soul and consciousness, then perhaps the problem was that he had been holding his soul too tightly inside his physical body. He had been trying to force it to move according to a fixed method instead of allowing it to naturally extend outward.
He closed his eyes and calmed his breathing.
His consciousness slowly sank deeper into his body. Instead of focusing on his physical senses, Ethan focused on the faint presence of his soul.
It was like looking at a flame inside a dark temple.
He didn’t try to seize it.
He didn’t try to force it.
He simply allowed it to exist.
Ethan slowly released the restrictions he had placed on his soul. The moment he did that, he felt a strange sensation spreading through his body. It was as if an invisible layer had been covering his soul, preventing it from touching the outside world.
He carefully cast away that restriction.
The process reminded him of some old religious teachings about the soul. The body was only a vessel, while the soul was the true self that remained after everything else disappeared. If the soul was forced to remain inside the vessel, it could never reach beyond it.
So Ethan followed that idea.
He imagined his soul as a divine light resting inside a temple. He opened the doors of that temple and allowed the light to flow outside.
His soul began to loosen.
Then it slowly extended outward.
At first, it only reached a few centimeters beyond his body.
Ethan continued concentrating.
The soul extended farther.
A meter.
Five meters.
Ten meters.
His awareness continued expanding without any physical movement.
Then something changed.
Ethan suddenly felt as if his consciousness had become weightless. His soul passed through his physical body and projected itself into the outer world.
