Chapter 2950 -2951: Legal Status

They arrived in a vast grand hall, where many Cultivators were currently busy!

And what was happening made Ye Luo so stunned his eyes went wide.

Quite a few Cultivators were sitting at desks, actually handling business!

Yes, they were literally holding pens and writing on parchment, and of course this method itself wasn’t strange—Ice Gate Sect had it too. The problem was this way of lining up in a great hall to handle business, which made Ye Luo feel as if he’d gone back to Earth!

This rather primitive, manpower?dependent way of handling business was clearly just a transitional stage in a technological nation.

It seemed that this Seed Force had not only subdued these Sects, but was also profoundly changing their way of life.

Others might not feel anything, but Ye Luo understood that such infiltration was enough to transform the way Cultivators lived across the entire Demon Realm, even in other worlds.

Because the way of life in a technological nation held enormous allure for Cultivators.

This was likely one of the reasons why those invaders back then had wanted to destroy the Zhongzhou Empire.

After all, once you came into contact with that relaxed way of living in a technological nation, there would be very few who could still keep a firm heart for Cultivation.

Why Cultivate at all? To obtain endless longevity, and then enjoy life!

Yet in the Zhongzhou Empire, if you wanted lifespan, it wasn’t difficult, and you basically didn’t need years of hard Cultivation. The Empire’s citizens spent most of their time on enjoyment! Many of their ways of living were things Cultivators could never even imagine.

On this point, even Ye Luo had to admit: technological Strength was indeed formidable!

And within the Empire, gaining Strength was also something you could do with ease.

Taking all that together, a nation of Cultivators would naturally feel apprehensive about Zhongzhou civilization.

Very soon, that squad leader brought Ye Luo and the others to register, and then they were assigned to a room.

The first floor of this grand hall was divided into many small rooms; this layout made Shadow and Luo Xue very curious, but to Ye Luo it felt extremely familiar.

Before long, an Elder walked in; he didn’t act overbearing at all, instead looking quite amiable.

“We’ve dealt with many poachers before. In fact, you really don’t need to go poaching. Those Demon Beasts are extremely ferocious; you could easily lose your lives. Besides, every Sect now has shops selling Demon Beast products, and the prices are very reasonable. Why don’t you go take a look?”

Luo Xue and Shadow were completely confused, products this and that—they didn’t even understand what he was talking about.

Only Ye Luo was relatively unsurprised. It seemed the Killing Sect had already turned Demon Beasts into an industry to operate.

In fact, it’s not only technological nations; in some Cultivation worlds, this kind of shop was perfectly normal.

Then the Elder explained to the three of them some of the downsides of poaching. The general meaning was: this time being caught was just a warning, but next time, by Sect law, it would be much more serious.

He also informed the three that Loose Cultivators now held very low status and their lives were not guaranteed. Whether people from Sects or Cultivators from other forces, everyone needed a legal identity to survive on this land.

Ye Luo immediately asked, “Elder, can we join the Killing Sect? If we do, we’ll be able to obtain a legal identity, right?”

The Elder’s eyes lit up at once. “I’m very pleased you have this idea. Our Killing Sect is one of the top ten Sects of the Dark Alliance! In truth, we fully deserve to rank in the top five. You joining our Killing Sect is absolutely the right choice!”

Next, the Elder launched into a speech with the three of them about how great the Killing Sect was, how advantageous it was, and so on!

This scene left all three utterly dumbfounded.

It was the first time they’d ever seen a Sect where you not only didn’t need any sort of assessment or investigation to enter, but were welcomed with such enthusiasm.

“In that case, we’ll just join the Killing Sect!” Luo Xue said immediately.

In fact, she felt fairly close to the Killing Sect; after all, this Sect had been personally built up by her father.

“Good, the three of you really have an eye for things!” The Elder stood up at once, a smile spreading across his face.

“This is the application form. Fill this out, then go to the main hall to pay the Crystal Stones, and after that you can receive your Identity Tokens!”

After a brief explanation, the Elder guided the three on how to fill the thing out.

This so?called filling out didn’t involve actual writing; in the Cultivators’ world, they basically didn’t need written records.

Leaving a Divine Sense imprint on the parchment was enough! Of course, this process required using that special pen, channeling Divine Sense into the pen, and then the imprint would automatically appear on the parchment. This scene left even Ye Luo deeply curious.

Afterward, the three of them took the parchment and went to pay Crystal Stones in the grand hall; those Crystal Stones were absolutely not cheap!

If it were ordinary Loose Cultivators, they’d probably have to empty their pockets; but for these three, it really wasn’t much of anything.

In the end, they finally received those Identity Tokens!

After that, the Elder had already vanished, and no one was paying them any attention. The three all felt as if they’d been tricked; even if those Crystal Stones didn’t mean much to them, it still left a sour taste.

But they couldn’t just keep standing in the grand hall. After Ye Luo went up to ask around, he learned that now they had Tokens, they could wander freely within the Killing Sect’s territory. Of course, they could also go to other regions, but that would cost an exorbitant amount of Crystal Stones!

Apparently, this core area placed a high value on Crystal Stones, which puzzled Ye Luo somewhat. Refining Crystal Stones shouldn’t be all that difficult for the Zhongzhou Empire!

However, back then in the Linglong Pagoda, although that Mother Body could manufacture huge quantities of Crystal Stones, it was still scouring for Spiritual Energy everywhere, not even sparing the faintest trace. The reason was that in a technological nation, Crystal Stone consumption was astonishingly high!

It seemed this should be the reason here as well.

The mountains of the Killing Sect were actually quite flat; every now and then you could see Cultivators sitting cross?legged on the ground in Cultivation. Clearly, these Cultivators must have experiences similar to the three of them—Loose Cultivators who had been talked into coming here.

There were also some who had built thatched huts on the slopes, clearly planning to live here long?term.

Before long, the three saw a large number of shops appear, forming a very long street. On this street, people came and went, bustling and lively.

The three immediately walked over in curiosity, only to find that the shops didn’t just sell Demon Beast products; the wares were dazzling, far beyond anything they had expected.
