Peerless Divine Doctor
Chapter 2966: Pack Everything Up for Me!
There are only two or three such large malls in the entire City of Technology! These daily necessities and clothing and the like, while they don’t cost that many Crystal Stones, demand an enormous amount of manpower and resources. If one were destroyed, it would take a very long time to restore supply to the current level.
Even though the City of Technology is still in its sapling stage, the degree of modernization of this mall is incredibly high.
The moment you step inside, you get a sense of ease; with all kinds of modern facilities, even an ordinary person could shop here for a whole day without feeling tired.
Naturally, you could describe the mall as packed with people; every store entrance was surrounded by a crowd.
They’d long since moved past the era of human salesclerk service here; it was all fully intelligent, automated selling.
Then Fang Fang led Ye Luo to the front of a particular store. There were slightly fewer people at the door of this one. Ye Luo glanced over it; the prices here were a bit higher, but of course the styles and quality were also a grade above!
Fang Fang shot Ye Luo a nervous look. After all, the clothes here started at several thousand, and even the cheapest set might cost her several months’ wages.
Ye Luo didn’t care; he walked straight in. But the moment he did, he was immediately met with a lot of hostile side-eye.
After all, he was a Cultivator, and in this mall he hadn’t seen a single male Cultivator!
What kind of Cultivator would spend so many Crystal Stones on these flashy clothes? With that many Crystal Stones, they could afford to Cultivate for months, even longer.
For Cultivators, only strength matters; as for food, lodging, and the like, they simply don’t care.
“Since when are lowborns allowed in here too? Shouldn’t they be driven out?”
“How can these lowborns shop for clothes together with us!”
“Where are the staff? Hurry up and activate the store’s security system!”
At once, quite a few people began loudly berating them.
In their eyes, a Cultivator’s status was about the same as a pet’s. How could they be worthy of coming to this kind of high?end mall!
Hearing this, Fang Fang’s face went a bit pale. This scene was something she hadn’t anticipated at all.
In fact, it was genuinely rare to see something like this happen in the mall!
As for those female Cultivators, that was different; they were canaries kept by rich people. Bringing them out shopping was inevitable. But a male Cultivator had the lowest status in this city. As for talk of realms and strength and so on, the city’s Indigenous People simply didn’t understand, and didn’t want to understand!
It was just like in the wilds: tigers and leopards and the like are many times more ferocious than ordinary members of the Human Race, but they’re still locked up in cages.
So when these male Cultivators not only entered the mall but came straight to this core shopping area, in these people’s eyes, that was outright contempt for their identity and status. Naturally, they were furious.
The staff member had no choice but to come out. He first soothed the more agitated customers, then walked over to Ye Luo and Fang Fang.
“I’m sorry, honored sir and miss. To take our customers’ feelings into account, it would be better if the two of you came back at a less crowded time. As an apology, whatever clothes you choose today will be offered at a ten percent discount.”
The staff member’s tone was very polite, and a ten?percent discount would indeed save a lot of Crystal Stones.
“It’s fine, we don’t mind the crowd. Besides, I see there are plenty of machines here anyway,” Ye Luo said with a smile.
The staffer was immediately helpless. Sure, you don’t mind the crowd, but the problem is that the other customers aren’t willing to shop for clothes alongside you!
Ye Luo still didn’t care; he walked straight up to one of the machines.
“This one! This one! And this one! Pack them all for me, I’ll take the lot. And these two sets of women’s clothes, pack those for me too!”
The staff member had wanted to stop him, but when he saw this scene, he immediately shut his mouth.
You had to understand, the clothes here were anything but cheap. Even these white?collar workers had to agonize over every purchase; after all, it was several months’ salary, and the cost of living in this city was high to begin with.
Even those with money rarely bought clothes the way Ye Luo was doing.
After all, this was just a city, far from those extravagant technological nations where money flowed like water.
But now the other customers weren’t reacting quite so intensely anymore; they just stared coldly at Ye Luo, wearing mocking expressions.
These clothes would cost at least tens of thousands in currency! Which corresponded to hundreds of thousands of Crystal Stones! For a Cultivator, that was basically an astronomical figure, something only true big shots could afford. But those big shots would never come here to buy clothes; theirs were all custom?supplied!
“Um, sir, once the clothes here are selected, if you want to return them you’ll need to pay a twenty?percent penalty fee. Are you sure you want all of these?” the staffer reminded him.
After all, twenty percent of the price was no small sum.
“Of course. I’m taking them all. Didn’t you see I already selected them?” Ye Luo laughed. These machines were highly intelligent, and he wasn’t one of those ascetic Cultivators; operating machines like this was no challenge for him.
The staffer’s eyes went wide on the spot. He’d assumed Ye Luo didn’t understand these machines at all. In the eyes of the Indigenous People, Cultivators were basically a low?grade species, completely clueless when it came to high?tech things.
Very soon, the machine flickered, and the clothes were actually delivered out from inside.
Of course, since Ye Luo hadn’t paid yet, the clothes couldn’t be handed over to him.
Some of the surrounding customers already let out cold snorts. Even if nothing else happened, if Ye Luo couldn’t afford these clothes, he would still have to pay a hefty penalty fee!
If he couldn’t come up with the penalty fee, the consequences would be severe—especially for a Cultivator. At best, he’d be expelled from the city; at worst, executed. And for this much penalty money, it would most likely be execution!
“Sir, as you can see…” the staff member said awkwardly.
If the clothes were successfully sold, it would count toward his performance. But if they weren’t sold, then even with the penalty fee he would still be punished accordingly.
“I’ll pay with Crystal Stones, of course!” Ye Luo said casually, tossing over a Qiankun Ring. “Handle the rest for me, I’m too lazy to bother. Whatever Spirit Stones are left can be your tip.”
Giving tips was one of the mall’s unwritten rules, and not even the staffer had expected that a Cultivator would know to tip.
Of course, right now he wasn’t thinking about tips at all. He just hoped Ye Luo hadn’t selected the clothes on a whim and would actually pay for them in Crystal Stones—that alone would be a blessing.
But when he opened the Qiankun Ring, his eyes immediately went wide.
Inside, there was a pile of Crystal Stones stacked up like a small mountain.
