Chapter 264: Such a Bridal Chamber

After no small amount of explaining, Chen Qingdi finally managed to soothe his wife, Shen Mingyue’s, anger.

He quickly ordered his people to let the young princess play as she pleased on the island, planning to send her back to the Queen once she’d had her fun.

He then called the Queen to explain the situation.

"The princess snuck onto the private jet, and by the time we found her, it was too late. She’s here having fun right now. If you’re worried, Your Majesty, you’re welcome to come and pick her up!"

The Queen replied.

"As long as Alice is with you, I’m relieved. Just let her have fun. I’ll come to get her next year!"

Chen Qingdi was about to object, but the Queen continued in a pleading tone.

"She was sick for so long and was probably getting very depressed. Since she wants to play on your island, please just take good care of her."

Hearing this from the Queen, Chen Qingdi dropped his objection.

This was the day of Chen Qingdi’s wedding to his wife, Shen Mingyue.

The whole of Medical God Island was abuzz with excitement.

Honored guests from all over the world filled the scenic little island.

After all the tedious formalities were over, Chen Qingdi and Shen Mingyue retired to their bridal chamber.

"Mingyue!"

Overcome with emotion, Mingyue threw herself into Chen Qingdi’s arms. "Husband, I’m finally married to you!"

The two whispered intimately, reminiscing about the past.

As the night grew darker, Chen Qingdi swept Shen Mingyue up in a princess carry and walked toward the large bed.

Just as he was about to lay his beloved down, a figure suddenly sat up on the bed.

"Chen Qingdi, Mingyue, what are you two doing?"

"Ah!"

The sudden, innocent voice made Shen Mingyue blush furiously and bury her head in Chen Qingdi’s chest. He, too, was utterly dumbfounded.

"Princess Alice, why are you here?"

Princess Alice, dressed in a festive red outfit, chirped happily from the bed.

"So there’s such a pretty room and such a soft, comfy bed on the island! You two are playing favorites! You didn’t even tell me about such a fun place!"

Chen Qingdi forced a smile. "Alice, this... fun place... is somewhere a person only enters once in their lifetime. You’re still too young. Why don’t you go back and get some rest?"

"I don’t care! Yuan said there would be candy here! You have to give me some!"

Chen Qingdi gently set Mingyue down to sit on the edge of the bed.

He then found a bag of wedding candy in the bridal chamber and handed it to Mingyue.

"This is all there is," he told Alice. "You can have it."

Alice giggled. "I’m going to sleep with Mingyue for the next few days, and I’m staying with her tonight, too!"

Chen Qingdi didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. He had no idea how to explain the situation to this adolescent girl.

Seeing Chen Qingdi’s impatient expression, Shen Mingyue couldn’t help but chuckle.

’This shameless flirt,’ she thought. ’He’s always out there chasing women. He even charmed this innocent little girl, and now she’s followed him home. Let’s see how this shameless man gets out of this one!’

Of course, Chen Qingdi would never do anything to Alice. She was just a child. If anything untoward happened to her here, the King and Queen would have his head.

Besides, today was his wedding day with Mingyue. He couldn’t let it be ruined, or it would be a lifelong regret.

With that in mind, he put on his most charming smile. He sat down on the other side of the princess, shooting Mingyue a meaningful look.

The two of them now flanked the princess. Chen Qingdi began amiably.

"How about I tell you a story? And after the story is over, you’ll go to sleep, alright?"

Chen Qingdi had barely started the story of Snow White when the princess shot him down.

"I’m so sick of Grimm’s Fairy Tales! I don’t want to hear it!"

Chen Qingdi racked his brain for other fairy tales, but they were all ones the princess was tired of. At his wit’s end, he thought of a story he knew by heart: the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl.

The story was quite long. He was less than halfway through when the princess, yawning nonstop, fell asleep on the bed.

Chen Qingdi made a call, and Ye Shiqi came over. She quietly picked up the sleeping princess and carried her out to the room that had been specially prepared for her.

Once the princess was gone, Shen Mingyue stood up.

Chen Qingdi, thinking Mingyue was angry, put on an innocent expression.

"Honey, I swear I never had any designs on that little girl!"

Seeing her husband’s anxious face, Mingyue burst out laughing.

"You silly goose. Hurry up and have all this bedding changed! Then we can finally rest."

Only then did Chen Qingdi understand. His dear Mingyue was a bit of a clean freak, especially on their wedding night. She wasn’t about to use bedding that another woman had been on.

Realizing this, Chen Qingdi ordered his staff to bring in a completely new set of bedding.

Only then, happy and satisfied, did Mingyue join Chen Qingdi to rest.

The blissful night was all too short.

The two of them slept well into the next morning.

Then came an anxious knock on the door.

"Island Master! Madam! You must come out! Princess Alice is throwing a tantrum! She’s calling you both liars, saying you tricked her!"

Shen Mingyue shot her husband an alluring, exasperated look.

"This is all your fault, you charmer. Let’s see how you handle that girl now!"

Chen Qingdi felt a massive headache coming on.

"Honey, I’m not going. You go talk to the girl for me. With a kid that age, you can’t be too soft, but you can’t be too harsh either. I really don’t know what to do."

Shen Mingyue’s expression turned serious. "What if I send someone to take her back to her parents right now? Would you be sad to see her go?"

Chen Qingdi looked immensely relieved.

"Thank you, my dear wife!"

"You silly goose."

Seeing that her husband absolutely refused to go, Shen Mingyue sighed in resignation and went to see the girl herself.

It turned out the Queen had come to take her home, but Princess Alice said something that left everyone speechless.

"I’m not going home! I like Chen Qingdi too! I want to have a wedding night with him!"

When Shen Mingyue came out, the princess started her tantrum.

"Mingyue, you’re all liars! You clearly said the three of us would sleep together. Why did you carry me away?"

Shen Mingyue took the verbal assault. ’This is all Chen Qingdi’s fault,’ she thought. ’He racks up these romantic debts everywhere and can never quite shake them off.’

She spoke with immense patience. "You’re too young for this right now, you’re not at that age yet. Go home and focus on your studies. If you get excellent grades in all your subjects, your dear Chen Qingdi will be very happy. You can come back when you’re all grown up!"

She thoughtfully gifted the young princess a large collection of cosmetics, which finally made the girl’s tears turn to smiles. She said her goodbyes to Mingyue and returned to her own kingdom with her mother.

Watching the plane ascend into the sky, Shen Mingyue finally let out a long sigh of relief. She went back and told her husband what had happened.

Chen Qingdi nodded. "Honey, let’s stay here for another half a month, and then we’ll head back to the Dragon Country!"

"But don’t you want to live in seclusion here?"

Chen Qingdi gave a wry smile. "But I’m a world-renowned Divine Physician. A so-called Divine Physician only shows his worth when he’s out there saving lives. What good am I on this island?"
