Peerless Medical Emperor
Chapter 381: The Ghost Doctor Sect's Green Phosphorus Powder
Chen Yuan and Qian Laoliu were both citizens of the Dragon Country, so they could participate directly in this operation. Chen Qingdi ordered Chen Yuan to lead a team to Xiake Island first, to act as the vanguard and find out what was really happening there.
He told them they must ascertain the real situation there before he himself landed on the island, and also to assist the local authorities in the task of defending the island.
After discussing these matters, Chen Qingdi received another phone call, this time from Wang Meijuan.
At Wang Meijuan’s villa, she led him to the bedroom.
In the bedroom, there was a new bloody handprint. On the bedsheets, someone had written several large, glowing green words.
“Dare to set foot on Xiake Island, and we’ll kill your whole family!”
Chen Qingdi was furious. “These bastards don’t dare to face me head-on, so they resort to these insidious tricks. Do they really think these petty ploys can do anything to me?”
Wang Meijuan pointed at the green glow, trembling.
“Chen Qingdi, is this the legendary will-o’-the-wisp?”
Chen Qingdi chuckled.
“Are there really ghosts in this world? So-called will-o’-the-wisps are just the natural glow produced by the phosphorus in human skeletons.”
“But there are no dead bodies in my room, so how could there be a will-o’-the-wisp?”
Chen Qingdi pulled her into his arms and comforted her gently.
“This is a special writing material. It contains an additive called Green Phosphorus Powder. Words written with this material look normal during the day, but at night they glow automatically, just like what you’re seeing now.”
Wang Meijuan was still a little scared. “Is that really true? How come I’ve never seen anyone use this material?”
Chen Qingdi explained to her, “This stuff is quite troublesome to formulate. Currently, only the Ghost Doctor Sect has mastered this technique. The people causing trouble for us now should be the same group that targeted Mingyue a while back. Their goal is just to throw me off and make me misjudge the situation.”
Wang Meijuan snorted. “Trying to fool me with that talk again. If it’s man-made like you say, then prove it. Make some for me.”
Chen Qingdi smiled. “Well, actually, I couldn’t have done it before, but now I can.”
He now had three experts from the Ghost Doctor Sect by his side: the two Shuang’Er sisters and Cyan Wolf.
Chen Qingdi made a call to Gu Shuang’Er. Gu Shuang’Er immediately replied, “I don’t dare leak the sect’s formulas, but I do have some ready-made Green Phosphorus Powder. I’ll fly over and give it to you now.”
Soon after, when two identical girls appeared beside Wang Meijuan, her jaw nearly dropped to the floor.
“Which one of you is which?”
Even Chen Qingdi couldn’t tell which of the two was which now, and he often mixed up their names.
Of course, no two people in the world are exactly alike, and even identical twins have subtle differences. It was just that he had spent more time apart from the sisters than with them, so he hadn’t had the chance to discern these subtle distinctions.
But things were better now, as he had given the two sisters bracelets of different colors to wear.
The one wearing the black pearl bracelet was Gu Shuang’Er, and the one with the white pearl bracelet was Li Shuang’Er.
Although the two sisters would sometimes play pranks and swap bracelets, it made no difference which of them was given a task, so there hadn’t been any major embarrassments yet.
Li Shuang’Er said with a worried expression, “Gu Shuang’Er doesn’t have much Green Phosphorus Powder left. I’m the only one with this little bit, and I can only give you a small portion. After all, the sect’s control over this substance is extremely strict. We have to report any amount used, no matter how much. Giving away too much would cause huge trouble.”
Chen Qingdi only took a tiny amount, about the size of an earpick scoop. He then mixed it with some water, used a calligraphy brush to write a few words on a piece of paper, and then placed the paper under a light to expose it.
After a moment, he turned off the light, and several emerald-green words appeared on the surface of the paper.
Only then did Wang Meijuan believe it. It turned out her room wasn’t haunted; someone had deliberately used a writing material mixed with Green Phosphorus Powder to pretend to be a ghost and scare her.
Chen Qingdi said to the sisters, “Since you’re both here, don’t go back for now. Help me catch these ‘ghosts’.”
Gu Shuang’Er frowned. “The sect doesn’t know about our betrayal yet. If we’re exposed, it will be bad for both you and us.”
“She’s right,” Li Shuang’Er chimed in.
“Wouldn’t it be better for us to act as your moles inside the sect and block those who mean you harm?”
Chen Qingdi sighed. “I’m afraid you two won’t be able to be moles for much longer. After all, the ones playing tricks and scaring President Wang are probably people from your sect.”
After he finished speaking, he looked at the two sisters with a calm expression.
“The time to choose has come. Are you with your sect, or are you with me? If you choose the sect, from this day on, we’ll see each other on the battlefield. But you can rest assured, if you fall into my hands again, I won’t kill you. I’ll just make you leave the battlefield forever.”
The two sisters glanced at each other, knowing that while Chen Qingdi’s words were spoken gently, their underlying meaning was anything but.
‘Making them leave the battlefield forever, without killing them. The best-case scenario would probably be having their Martial Arts crippled, and from then on, they would have to focus on being his women.’
‘Their entire livelihood in the martial world depended on their Martial Arts. If that was taken away, it would be no different from death.’
The two sisters looked at each other. “The sect placed a curse on us. The moment we truly betray the sect, the curse will activate.”
Chen Qingdi frowned. “What kind of curse is it? Could it be even more formidable than the Demon Flower Strange Heart Insect?”
Li Shuang’Er said grimly, “It’s a substance called the Beauty Pill. Applying it regularly to the face keeps a person’s age frozen. Even if someone is over fifty, they’ll still look like they’re in their thirties or forties.”
Chen Qingdi smiled. “That sounds like a good thing.”
Gu Shuang’Er snorted. “We’ve been using this stuff since we were ten, which is why we’re much more beautiful than ordinary people. But if we stop using it for even a month, our skin will immediately erupt, and then our whole bodies will fester. We’d have to suffer for forty-nine full days before being tortured to death!”
Chen Qingdi sighed helplessly.
“What kind of things are these? This is just too cruel!”
The two sisters came before him, looking deeply wronged.
“We don’t want to cross swords with you, really. Rather than die from the side effects of the Beauty Pill in the future, it would be better if you killed us now. Our only request is that after you kill us, you cover our faces with a cloth and then cremate us. We don’t want you to see how ugly we’ll look after we die.”
When he first brought these two sisters to his side, Chen Qingdi had felt a sense of accomplishment.
But now, hearing that his accomplishment was built upon their suffering, he couldn’t help but feel a pang of pity.
