Peerless Medical Emperor
Chapter 387: Asking Madam for Help
So, the two of them agreed to buy a gift the next day and pay Shen Mingyue a visit. They knew it would be an uphill battle, but for their friend’s sake, they decided to give it their all.
Gu Shuang’Er and Li Shuang’Er arrived in the villa’s living room. Their entrance interrupted Shen Mingyue and Ye Shiqi’s conversation. Shen Mingyue watched them with a stern expression. ‘She knew these two were women Chen Qingdi had recently taken in, they just hadn’t been formally accepted by him yet.’
Gu Shuang’Er and Li Shuang’Er sensed the tense atmosphere. They quickly set down their gift and said to Shen Mingyue and Ye Shiqi, “Madam, we didn’t mean to interrupt your conversation. We came here to ask you and the Chairman for help in letting Wang Meijuan return to Mingyue Group.”
Shen Mingyue frowned. She didn’t appreciate this kind of sudden request. In a low voice, she asked, “Who are you? Why have you come to me?”
Gu Shuang’Er quickly replied, “Madam, my name is Gu Shuang’Er, and this is my sister, Li Shuang’Er. We’re both good friends of Wang Meijuan. As you know, Wang Meijuan has been devastated since she was fired, and she desperately needs this job. We hope you can help us and ask the Chairman to give her a chance to come back to the company.”
Shen Mingyue listened to Gu Shuang’Er but didn’t answer immediately. She glanced at Ye Shiqi, who was also looking at her, and the two exchanged a meaningful look. ‘She knew this wasn’t a decision she could make alone; she would have to discuss it with Ye Shiqi.’
So she said to Gu Shuang’Er and Li Shuang’Er, “This isn’t a simple matter. We need to discuss it. Please, have a seat and wait for a moment.”
Gu Shuang’Er and Li Shuang’Er breathed a sigh of relief and quickly sat down. Shen Mingyue then turned to Ye Shiqi and said, “Shiqi, what do you think we should do?”
Ye Shiqi thought for a moment before replying, “I think we can consider it. After all, Wang Meijuan was an employee of the company. If she’s truly in trouble, we can help her out.”
Shen Mingyue nodded, showing she agreed with Ye Shiqi. She then said to Gu Shuang’Er and Li Shuang’Er in a low voice, “Alright, we will consider it. You can go home and wait for our decision.”
Hearing this response, Gu Shuang’Er and Li Shuang’Er were overwhelmed with gratitude. They quickly offered their thanks and left the villa.
Shen Mingyue sighed as she watched them leave. ‘She knew this wouldn’t be an easy problem to solve. The reason Wang Meijuan was fired was that she had stolen confidential company documents, a clear violation of policy. If they let her back so easily, it would undermine the company’s rules.’
She glanced at Ye Shiqi, who was also looking at her. They exchanged another look, both understanding that this matter required further discussion.
Shen Mingyue decided to go discuss the matter with Chen Qingdi. After all, he was the chairman of the company, so he had to be the one to make the final decision.
That night, Shen Mingyue and Ye Shiqi stayed at the villa. The two of them talked about the situation as they lay in bed.
“Shiqi, what do you think we should do?” Shen Mingyue asked.
「In a conference room at Mingyue Group.」
Shen Mingyue faced two unexpected guests, feeling somewhat puzzled. It wasn’t that she was suspicious of her visitors, but she was confused by the matter they brought up. ‘Wang Meijuan, a regional manager for Mingyue Group… how on earth did she offend Chen Qingdi to the point that people had to come and plead on her behalf?’
“President Shen, as you know, Manager Wang Meijuan has always been a top performer in our region,” one of the visitors began. “She is absolutely not the type of person who would betray the company. This time, I’m afraid Chairman Chen must have misunderstood something.”
Shen Mingyue frowned, lost in thought. She knew that Chen Qingdi, the chairman of Mingyue Group, was decisive and had a sharp eye for things. But if it was truly a misunderstanding, why would these two go to such great lengths to plead her case?
The other visitor added, “President Shen, we only just learned about this. Manager Wang did not sell out the company; it’s all a complete misunderstanding. We hope you can help her and explain the situation clearly to Chairman Chen.”
Shen Mingyue looked up, her gaze piercing as she stared at the two of them. “To go so far as to ask an outsider like me for help… did you take a bribe from her?”
Gu Shuang’Er, one of the visitors, took out a check and placed it gently on the table. “Wang Meijuan gave this to me, and I accepted it without giving it much thought. But I don’t want to be here pleading her case because of it. That wouldn’t feel right to me.”
Shen Mingyue was momentarily stunned, not expecting Gu Shuang’Er to be so candid. She picked up the check and glanced at it. It was for two hundred thousand US Dollars. Her gaze shifted to Gu Shuang’Er. “Then why are you telling me this?”
Gu Shuang’Er smiled. “I want President Shen to know that this money wasn’t to get me to plead her case. Rather, I hope Mingyue Group’s security team can use this money to better protect the company.”
A warm feeling spread through Shen Mingyue’s chest as she heard this. Looking at Gu Shuang’Er, she couldn’t help but feel moved. She understood that Gu Shuang’Er wasn’t here for Wang Meijuan’s personal benefit, but because she genuinely wanted Mingyue Group to be better protected.
“President Shen, I will give this money to the guys on the security team so they can use it to better protect Mingyue Group,” Gu Shuang’Er continued. “It’s the best use for it I could think of.”
Shen Mingyue nodded deeply. “Ms. Gu, I understand your sincerity. I will have a serious discussion with Chairman Chen about this matter, but I can’t guarantee the outcome.”
A grateful smile spread across Gu Shuang’Er’s face upon hearing this. “President Shen, your words have put my mind at ease. On behalf of Manager Wang Meijuan, thank you.”
「Not long after」
Shen Mingyue’s meeting with Chen Qingdi took place. They sat facing each other in a brightly lit conference room. Shen Mingyue recounted the entire sequence of events in detail to Chen Qingdi. After she finished, Chen Qingdi remained silent, his deep gaze fixed on the tabletop.
“Chairman Chen, I know you’ve always thought highly of Wang Meijuan,” Shen Mingyue said slowly. “But I’m afraid this misunderstanding could affect the company’s reputation and the employees’ trust.”
Chen Qingdi’s brow furrowed slightly. “You’re right, it is indeed a misunderstanding. But I also understand that without conclusive proof, it will be hard to convince anyone.”
Shen Mingyue nodded. “I understand your concern. But I believe we should give Wang Meijuan a chance to prove her innocence.”
Chen Qingdi was silent for a moment, then spoke.
“Alright. I will give her that chance. If she can prove her innocence, I am willing to apologize to her and reinstate her position.”
Hearing this, Shen Mingyue breathed a sigh of relief.
She knew this misunderstanding was a heavy blow for Wang Meijuan, but if her innocence could be proven, it would also be a good thing for Mingyue Group.
