Peerless Medical Emperor
Chapter 400 And There Are Peach Snatchers
No matter who it was, if they violated what he considered a matter of principle, they would face his torrential tirade.
It was unbelievable that a man of such unyielding integrity would also side with the Grand Elder.
Chen Qingdi asked in a low voice, “How did you turn Song Gang into a demon?”
The Grand Elder sneered, speaking with great satisfaction.
“Everyone thinks I’m rotten to the core, but who would have thought I’ve done good deeds before? Song Gang’s wife suffered from uremia for years. He was too busy with his duties to go back and care for her, so I hired experts from overseas and covered all her medical expenses, pulling her back from the brink of death. I even arranged a job for his son. After a favor like that—a second chance at life for his family—do you think he wouldn’t repay me?”
Chen Qingdi let out a long sigh.
‘This Grand Elder is incredibly dangerous. He might alienate some people…’
‘But his methods aren’t limited to threats and bribes. He truly knows how to cater to a person’s desires, prescribing the perfect remedy for their troubles.’
Chen Qingdi didn’t dwell on this and continued his questioning.
“What other operations have you planned recently?”
Wan Qisong’s eyes were vacant, and his voice was extremely slow, but his words were remarkably clear.
“Long Shou’s counterattack was swift. If we let things continue, all of us will be wiped out. So, Long Shou’s personal attendant will be feeding him drugs to damage his mind. When his mental state is sufficiently weakened, Song Gang will move in to force his abdication. I expect he’s already on his way now!”
Chen Qingdi said through gritted teeth, “Doing that will throw the world into chaos!”
Wan Qisong chuckled, a strange smile that seemed etched into his very bones.
“Don’t be afraid. Great chaos precedes great order. Once I’ve taken the throne, I’ll use thunderous methods to crush the turmoil. It will be nothing.”
Chen Qingdi asked again, “And if you fail? What other plans do you have?”
Wan Qisong said slowly, “We’ve made some concessions to a few small neighboring countries. When we launch our ‘armed remonstrance,’ they will stir up some trouble to support us. We can then use these incidents as a pretext to force his abdication. By then, Long Shou won’t be able to defend himself and will have no choice but to step down in disgrace.”
‘What an insidious bastard,’ Chen Qingdi cursed inwardly.
Just as he was about to ask another question, the doorbell suddenly rang, loud and insistent.
At that very moment, the sound jolted the Grand Elder from his deep hypnosis.
Chen Qingdi instantly pulled out all the silver needles.
Wan Qisong, a look of shock and suspicion on his face, asked, “What did you do to me?”
Chen Qingdi said nonchalantly, “You old goat, your lips are sealed tight. I couldn’t get anything out of you.”
Wan Qisong snorted. “The momentum is on my side now. It’s not too late for you to abandon the darkness and embrace the light.”
Chen Qingdi said in a low voice, “I’ve inflicted a hidden injury on you called Yama’s Seal. It can lie dormant in your body for half the night, but it will activate at the third watch.”
Wan Qisong’s heart skipped a beat. He asked, “And then?”
“When Yama calls for your death at the third watch, who dares keep you alive till dawn? Surely you understand now.”
“You…”
Chen Qingdi sneered. “You’ve exhausted all your schemes, but you never expected this outcome, did you? Even if your coup succeeds, you’ll just be doing all the hard work for someone else!”
The doorbell was still ringing incessantly, and Wan Qisong suddenly regained his confidence.
“I know who that is. If you don’t open the door in five minutes, this room’s self-destruct sequence will activate, and everything inside—including me—will be obliterated!”
Just then, Chen Qingdi heard a terrifying BEEP BEEP BEEP.
His heart leaped into his throat. He said to Wan Qisong, “You really are a madman.”
Wan Qisong sneered. “Don’t forget, I’ve eaten more salt than you’ve eaten rice!”
Chen Qingdi sneered back, “A wonder you didn’t choke to death on it!”
Wan Qisong snorted. “Then you should know what to do, right? Hurry up and open the door, let my people in, and then put your hands up and surrender. I might consider giving you a quick death.”
Chen Qingdi again used the Fen Jun’s Bone Dislocation technique, applying it to a few of Wan Qisong’s major meridians. Wan Qisong instantly felt a gut-wrenching agony, as if his intestines were being twisted into knots.
Without another word, Chen Qingdi opened the door.
A beautiful woman in her thirties stood in the doorway, gliding into the room with graceful steps.
“How is the Grand Elder?”
Chen Qingdi knew this beautiful woman was the Grand Elder’s current wife, Zhao Wushuang, a princess of the Zhao Family.
After the Grand Elder’s first wife died, this woman, with her extraordinary schemes, had moved into the Grand Elder’s Central Palace, becoming one of those women who held the world in their hands.
Seeing Wan Qisong’s state, Zhao Wushuang was clearly anxious.
“What’s going on?”
By now, Chen Qingdi had put his mask back on. He said very respectfully,
“Madam, Teacher’s old ailment is acting up again. Unfortunately, there’s no effective medicine for it at the moment.”
A thousand profanities flew through Wan Qisong’s mind, but he couldn’t utter a single word.
Seeing his wife questioning him so anxiously, and fearing he might offend Chen Qingdi, he could only nod.
“Old Master, you shouldn’t try to endure it. How about I call a car to take you to the hospital?”
Wan Qisong slowly shook his head and pointed toward the door.
Zhao Wushuang didn’t understand. “Old Master, can’t you speak?”
Chen Qingdi said respectfully, “Teacher is going through the worst phase right now. He’ll be better once the medicine takes effect. Besides, a trip to the hospital might not do any good for this kind of illness. It’s best to follow the doctor’s orders and recuperate at home.”
Zhao Wushuang glanced at Chen Qingdi, not seeing through his disguise.
“Xue Li, I’m entrusting your teacher’s health to you.”
With that, she picked up a towel, wiped the sweat from the Grand Elder’s forehead, and turned to leave.
Their relationship had always been one of mutual convenience, each going their own way. Realizing she wouldn’t have to accompany the Grand Elder, Zhao Wushuang was quite pleased. As soon as she left the room, she called her favorite male celebrity.
She told him to come over and sing her a popular song.
The door was closed again. Chen Qingdi released the technique he was using.
Wan Qisong was panting, HUFF, HUFF, and it took a long while for his breathing to calm down.
“To think that the ever-gentle and refined Divine Physician is also such a ruthless and cruel man. How utterly disappointing!”
‘La la la, I can’t hear you!’
Chen Qingdi chanted this to himself to block out the words.
“I’m ordering you to call Song Gang right now and tell him to cancel the operation.”
Wan Qisong sneered.
“This just proves how politically naive you are. At this stage, do you think I can stop it just by saying so? That chair… do you think I’m the only one in the world who covets it? Even if I, Wan Qisong, fall, there will be a Zhang Song and a Wang Song. Can you kill them all?”
