Pillar of Yita
Chapter 2311 - 102: Crow's Prophecy
"The entire Northern Territory is in motion," Luo Hao said, looking at the news in the community, "After the fall of Charter City, they established a temporary Long Summer Defense Line along the Egon Forest, but now that line is under urgent threat everywhere, with the Watchers crossing the Traveler's Swamp and heading northward."
"Watchers?"
"Elpaxin and the Silverwind Knights' army, they are monitoring the movements north of Traveler's Swamp, under the shadow of the Dragon Roar Mountains. This operation has lasted for more than half a year, and Elpaxin hasn't been completely idle either."
"Did they summon adventurers?"
Luo Hao shook his head, "They asked for aid from the Rainbow Alliance and the Descendants of Flor."
Fang Hong looked at the smoke columns in the sky, feeling utterly powerless in such circumstances, he lamented in silence about the troubled times. The disaster in the Northern Territory seems unending, and surely, the plight and hardship are bound to persist for a long time.
In the hotel lobby, when he mentioned that the batch of supplies didn't need to be sent back to the Seven Seas Traveler, as the merchant group no longer needed them, Tianlan's reaction was rather exaggerated.
Miss Poet let out a prolonged 'Ah——?', but quickly came to her senses and waved her hands in explanation:
"I'm not saying we shouldn't help those poor people, Brother Ade. But with this change, it will be difficult for us to procure enough provisions in Grey Owl Town. Miss Hilveld and I put in considerable effort to assemble these supplies. Plus, we promised that team, and now it will be quite hard to explain... "
"The supply issue can be deferred," Fang Hong replied, "We might have to stay here for a while, and as for the merchant group, you'll have to explain the situation, Tianlan. Is that okay?"
"Since Brother Ade has said so, I suppose I have no choice but to try. Seeing how adorable and sincere I am, hopefully, they won't say too much? If it really comes to that, we'll have to compensate them a bit." Tianlan feigned a pitiful expression.
"Alright, no problem, compensation is warranted, but if they have a lion's appetite..."
"Don't worry, I'll persuade them."
Fang Hong glanced at the little girl, feeling there's something off about her words.
"That's good," he nodded, "Tianlan, then I'll trouble you and Xiangzi to deliver these supplies over, Shaye will send someone to meet you."
"No problem, leave it to us. By the way," Tianlan's eyes darted around mischievously, "Brother Ade, not to be nosy... just asking, is Miss Shaye very pretty, ah yoh——"
Before she finished speaking, she was flicked hard on the head, quickly retreating and covering her head.
Fang Hong saw Xiangzi nodding at him, knowing he was very attentive to this matter. Entrusting the task of escorting supplies to him relieved Fang Hong greatly. Even though Xiangzi's thoughts are unconventional, compared to the Papalarians, he is far more reliable.
After saying these things, Fang Hong then looked at Hilveld beside him. After all, he had promised her to go to the Second World as soon as possible, to find her father's whereabouts, and they still had many things to attend to in the First World, like investigating the secret of the Obelisk—related to Sir Mawei's disappearance.
As well as finding a way to get a ticket to the Second World.
Instead of staying in this place, to relieve the refugees here. The Northern Territory is so vast, and refugees are not only limited to those outside Grey Owl Town, they can't possibly help every single person. Just like his previous lamentation, personal power in such circumstances is too insignificant.
Miss Ship's Officer would certainly laugh at him for being a good-hearted fool. If it were her, she'd certainly view this matter with a different mindset—from the root rather than superficially solving these issues. But if tackling it from the root, her suggestion would surely involve intervening in the royal dispute.
Indeed, only by pacifying this conflict can both the northern and southern dilemmas be resolved by Colin Ishurian.
But these are precisely the matters he doesn't want to meddle in. Political struggles have no absolute right or wrong, Lady Noble tends to view this matter from a ruler's perspective.
Who dies is not important, what matters is causing fewer deaths—
But Fang Hong is comforted by the fact that she never insists on her views. She is willing to indulge him, and always smiles, even if knowing he's making a mistake; she'll never openly oppose him but is always willing to help clean up the mess.
Fang Hong isn't unaware of all this, hence why he feels somewhat guilty. Sometimes he wonders if he's being too Headstrong, perhaps he should consider some of Lady Noble's suggestions. But to be indifferent to life and death, he still can't do it.
"Hilveld, do you have a better suggestion?"
Miss Ship's Officer smiled and shook her head, "On the contrary, I think Lord Captain is doing the most correct thing."
Fang Hong looked at her with surprise, almost thinking she was teasing him, as her usual response would be: 'I am not quite sure if this is right or wrong, but Lord Captain can give it a try.'
And if it's right, she simply chuckles, while if wrong, she smiles and helps clean up the aftermath.
