Chapter 2314 - 103: Crow's Prophecy VI
A buzzing sound penetrated Fang Hong's eardrums at this moment, and as he lowered his head, he saw the Communication Crystal on his glove light up.
From the communication channel, Luo Hao's somewhat anxious voice was coming through: "Ade, they've detained Miss Hilveld."
Fang Hong pressed one hand onto the Communication Crystal, pausing slightly. As he raised his head and looked at the glistening blades of the Grey Knights closing in, he asked in a low voice: "What exactly happened, did they figure us out?"
"No, but they said it's related to a prophecy from the Holy Sanctuary and they want Miss Hilveld to cooperate with their investigation."
"What, a prophecy?"
After Fang Hong paused, he instinctively closed his mouth, but a deep gleam flickered in his heart as he stayed silent.
He looked at the swaying helmets of the Knights not far away and seemed to grasp a crucial element. His heart felt neither anger nor happiness; instead, his lips curved slightly upwards: "Well, wait for me."
"What?"
"Wait for my return, I have some matters to attend to here, keep them from taking Hilveld away, don't let them succeed."
"So you've run into trouble too."
Luo Hao sighed, wearing a wry smile, but with Xiesta there, how could these people take her away without persuading Miss Maid?
Nonetheless, he heavily placed his Great Shield, walked clumsily to the stairway, glanced down, then nodded, replying: "Alright, understood."
Fang Hong closed the communication.
The Grey Knights had already leveled their Longswords, the chilling sword tips surrounding him. A muffled voice emanated from beneath the helmet of the leading Knight opposite:
"Listen, lay down your weapons, accept the guidance of the Lord of Storm, and you might gain redemption—"
But Fang Hong, watching them, didn't immediately reach for the Information Crystal on his chest. Instead, he silently removed the personal communication device from his glove, edited a message, and clicked send.
...
"Honored master."
The hall was as deep as an Abyss, the indistinct visage of the Lord of Storm's Adrian coldly observing a crooked man on the ground. Purple drapes hung from marble pillars, not moving at all, with only a single pale beam of Light shining from the dome above, onto the center of the hall.
The man was hunched over, almost doubling himself onto the ground, looking somewhat obsequious as he eyed the High Rank Knight in black and white uniform before him, incessantly rubbing his hands: "I swear to the Lord of Storm, I wouldn't dare deceive you, their camp is indeed in the Forest... in truth, I've long disliked that woman."
High Rank Knight Mofein Grayflame looked down at the ragged man, his ochre eyes faintly cold, silent, seemingly contemplating. Until the other showed some fear, he raised his black metallic glove, extending a finger: "Whether you can offer your loyalty to the Lord of Storm and achieve redemption before doom depends solely on the devotion of your faith—"
His voice carried a scratchy buzz, like insects crawling through his throat: "Go then, remember your words, lead others to capture those sinners, my Knights are waiting outside the courtyard for you, you have only one chance—and must succeed."
"You will gain the favor of the Lord of Storm, and past deeds will be forgiven, the great master will heal the scars left by the Shadow People," Mofein Grayflame gently pressed his glove on the man's shoulder. The cold touch made the latter shudder involuntarily, "Otherwise, the purple Fiery Flames will devour everything and turn you into a Demon in the Abyss."
The man's face first showed fear, but soon turned ecstatic, as if suddenly becoming the most fervent Believer, he said loudly: "Of course, I am willing to offer everything to the Lord of Storm."
He withdrew two steps, seemingly drained of all strength, stumbling, crawling toward the Holy Sanctuary doorway and out.
Watching his figure disappear into the Shadow, after a while, beneath Mofein Grayflame's cold metallic face shield, his ochre eyes showed an inscrutable look, "Offer everything," he smirked, "a decent saying."
Not long after that man left, several people clad in Silver Forest Spear war robes emerged from behind a row of pillars in the hall.
The leading person, if Fang Hong were there, would certainly recognize him as the young man he'd seen two days ago at the Judgement Ground.
"See that," Mofein Grayflame turned back to the Silver Forest Spear people, his voice somewhat husky, "their Alliance is hardly worth mentioning, those useless people care only for their own interests, scheming against each other. I've long said, capturing these insects is effortless."
"—Insects remain insects, well-hidden still just insects."
The young man shook his head, not refuting: "That's your affair—I'm just here to remind you, among them are chosen Invokers. You can't handle them like last time, they must be delivered to us."
Mofein Grayflame turned to glance at these individuals, nodding in agreement.
