Pioneer Lord: I Have Conquering System

Chapter 362 - 259: Goblin Day’s Northern Territory

Time flew. By the time the Kolon City garrison was replaced, the Wolf Island soldiers were patrolling the streets in an orderly fashion, and the whole of Kolon was beginning to stir back to life, two days had already passed.

Within Kolon City, merchants began passing through the gates again. All sorts of vendors appeared on the streets, and even Priests in their Divine Robes emerged from the Duomo Cathedral of Milan to purchase supplies.

Scantily clad women appeared on the streets and beckoned from balconies, all for the sake of letting the guests from the Northern Territory experience the local flavor of the Southern Territory.

Levi stood on the highest balcony of the White Castle, looking down at the scenes unfolding in Kolon City through a telescope.

Kolon was a major city, the commercial hub of the Southern Territory. The amount of Gold Coins lost for every day it remained sealed was simply unimaginable.

Therefore, after taking Kolon, both Fulina and Liya had unanimously decided to lift the lockdown, allowing its various industries to resume operations.

"Brother-in-law, once the rewards are handed out, are we getting ready to head back to High Cliff Castle?" Mier asked from time to time as he played cards in the room.

To be honest, after being away for so long, he was already missing his sister back at High Cliff Castle.

His question voiced the unanimous sentiment of High Cliff Castle’s leaders, big and small. The objective of their southern campaign had been achieved; now, they just needed to get what they came for, and the journey home was practically a sure thing.

Leiden, in particular, stared at his Lord, eager to know his thoughts on the matter.

As the Lord’s personally appointed Dog Head Military Advisor, he thought more deeply and with more foresight than Zat and the other muscle-brained top goons of High Cliff Castle.

’He was considering what would happen if their Lord was granted a rich fief in the Southern Territory. Would he abandon everything he had so painstakingly cultivated in the Wilderness and choose to settle down and build his future in the south instead?’

’After all, the Wilderness was just a poor, remote backwater, nowhere near as prosperous as the lands of Debei. Even if you were holding several thousand Gold Coins, you’d be hard-pressed to find a place to spend them.’

"We’ll see how it goes, but there shouldn’t be a major issue," Levi said, pulling his gaze away from the merchants and swiveling his telescope to stare intently at a much more bustling street.

The answer, however, simply made Leiden adjust the crude spectacles he’d fashioned from two polished crystals, and he went back to reading his book—*A Record of Famous Battles of the Millennium*.

It was a history book compiling famous battles from the last thousand years, containing much that was worthy of careful study and deliberation. He had asked his Lord to procure it for him.

However, the book had clearly been compiled by a Minstrel, who, at the end of every battle account, felt compelled to include a poem so awful it made your skin crawl.

"It often made Leiden lament, ’Even my grandmother, who loves to hum little country ditties from the Wilderness, is a better poet than this hack. The poetry is ruining a perfectly good book. I can barely stand to look at it.’"

As for the spectacles?

The incident that had completely changed his life had also left him with some lasting eye problems, making it difficult to see things clearly. Inspired by the telescope, he had immediately wondered if he could fashion a smaller version to wear over his eyes.

After countless experiments, he had created the object he now wore. Though they looked a bit crude, they successfully relieved his blurry vision.

"Then we oughta be headin’ back to High Cliff Castle soon," Zat said optimistically. "When we get back, I’ll tell all the boys who stayed behind about the fun stuff in the Southern Territory. They’ll be green with envy!"

He was the type of guy who, as long as his belly was full, could grin like an idiot all day. He had no worries in the world; his greatest concern was likely what he would have for his next meal.

The food had clearly been excellent these past two days, as he looked like he’d already bulked up.

"It probably won’t be that easy." Heather smiled as she took the copper coins from the two miserable-looking card players, stuffing the whole lot into her cleavage. Even though she’d already won dozens of copper coins, the space showed no signs of filling up.

Though she wasn’t human, she had heard that human scheming was no less vicious than that of the Zor Elves. Thus, she wasn’t nearly as optimistic as Zat, and offered a pertinent analysis of the current situation: "If this had been a war won entirely by our own forces, things would be much simpler. The problem is, we came here following on the heels of the Northern Territory’s army. They’re not the type to help others out of the goodness of their hearts; they definitely came for a piece of the pie."

"Heather’s right," Levi’s voice chimed in. "The more people you have splitting the cake, the more they’ll squabble. The cake is only so big; if you take a bigger piece, I inevitably get a smaller one. This isn’t going to get sorted out quickly."

For the past few days, aside from restoring order to Kolon, Onaya and her faction had been constantly squabbling with Fulina.

"Goblin Day-damned Northern Territory!" Zat hadn’t understood a word of the profound explanation, but that didn’t stop him from realizing that the cake he was about to eat was being snatched away by others. He immediately let loose with a torrent of rustic curses.

’He had no patience for these Northern People. Back at the camp, they had looked down their noses at his group and ostracized them. He didn’t have a good impression of any of them. The only one he could stand was Panda. Oh, right, and Duke Fulina, who was obviously sleeping with the boss.’

’He just automatically assumed the two of them had something going on; otherwise, there was no way to explain the massive quantities of supplies being shipped from Bailiu City to High Cliff Castle, free of charge.’

’And how did he know it was free? Well, given that the boss had been so broke he’d almost sold his own Sword just to buy weapons, and had ended up taking out a loan of six hundred, he had to be dirt-poor. There was no way he could afford all these supplies.’

Leiden, who was standing nearby, pretended not to hear this curse that managed to insult two groups at once. He was a Giant Goblin; in his mind, the cunning, cowardly, and lazy Goblins were not the same Race as him at all.

Levi sighed. ’Was it really the right call to dump all of this lunkhead’s Attribute Points into Strength and Agility?’ he wondered.
