Pioneer Lord: I Have Conquering System
Chapter 391 - 273: Hero Saves the Beauty (2)
Levi didn’t like staying with the main army of over a hundred thousand soldiers in the rear, so he volunteered to act as the vanguard.
The reason? It stank, of course.
With over a hundred thousand people gathered together, it was bearable when they were upwind. But downwind, the combined stench of sweat and excrement was like some rotting substance constantly emitting a nauseating odor, enough to give the Lord a firsthand experience of what an overwhelming stench truly was.
Leiden took a map from his coat, spread it on the ground to check it, then pushed up his simple glasses and said, "Lord, we are just over a day’s journey from White Bone Fortress. Once we pass that mountain peak ahead, we’ll be able to see its silhouette."
"We’re very close to White Bone Fortress now. It’s hard to say if there’s an ambush ahead."
He offered his own speculation.
After all, the fact that those demons could reach Kolon directly meant that White Bone Fortress had already lost its ability to stop them from entering Debei.
Without him needing to point, a lonely, towering peak had already appeared in Levi’s telescope.
A mountain peak in the middle of a fertile plain was impossible to miss.
However, after observing for a moment, he froze. He quickly mounted Biefeng and yelled, "Full speed ahead!"
The Lord had actually seen a group of demons through his telescope. They were swarming up Lonely Peak like a tide of ants, packed densely together, and were in the middle of a fierce battle with a group of people.
Although they were too far away for him to see their specific appearances clearly, he could see the flashing golden light and the explosive Elemental Power from the collisions.
As someone who drew from the same source, the Lord could tell it was Holy Light at a glance.
In the south, the only ones who possessed Holy Light were that group of Holy Knights who looked like a bunch of gays, and Fatir.
Combining that with the current location and situation, it wasn’t hard to deduce that they were the only ones who could be here.
No matter who it was, Levi couldn’t just stand by and watch them be annihilated by the demons.
If it was Fatir, he would have to risk his life to save her. After all, the rest of his "Holy Word Treasure Manual" depended on this Church Saintess.
Otherwise, if it were someone else, it was hard to say if they would use it as leverage to make him do things he was unwilling to do.
...
"Your Highness, we can’t hold on for much longer if this continues!" The Holy Knight Captain swung his huge broadsword down with his thick arms, smashing four or five charging Babu Demons into meat paste.
They were on the mountain peak, and the only way up was a single mountain path in front of them, wide enough for only five or six people to pass at a time.
Holy Knights might not be able to unleash incredibly powerful Big Moves like Combat Qi Knights, but having cultivated the "Holy Word Treasure Manual," their Power and endurance far surpassed that of ordinary people.
In a narrow pass like this, they gave off the air of being able to hold off ten thousand men.
But there were simply too many demons. They swarmed up endlessly, completely trapping them here.
Fatir was maintaining the Holy Light Protection. In truth, it wasn’t just the demons in front of them; multi-colored Magic spells would also periodically fly in from high up in the sky.
There was also a group of demons with vulture heads and wings in the sky, constantly throwing spears and rocks.
When these attacks came into contact with the milky-white Barrier above their heads, they dissolved instantly like water droplets falling into lava.
This was an extremely high-level Protective Magical Barrier. While its power was exceptional, its consumption was also incomparably immense.
Even with the help of the "Goddess Spirit Staff," Fatir’s face was deathly pale from maintaining it for so long—a sign that her Magic Power was about to run out.
’In fact, there was one thing she couldn’t understand at all. They had originally left White Bone Fortress safely, but unexpectedly, when they reached Lonely Peak, they found many demons already stationed here, and their movements had been discovered. It was as if the demons knew they would try to break out in this direction and had deployed forces here in advance. They had been deliberately allowed to pass through from White Bone Fortress so they would be trapped here with no way to retreat. Facing a vast plain with no fortifications, their only choice had been to rush up the mountain peak and defend this narrow pass. Excluding Bodoff, the most trustworthy Mage, if it weren’t for the fact that all Holy Knights were absolutely loyal to the Goddess, she would have even suspected a traitor was in their midst. Now, it seemed certain that there was a traitor within White Bone Fortress who had leaked their plan.’
"I can still cast Divine Protection of Holy Light once and one Holy Light Judgment to open a path for you. Can you break through?"
Fatir looked at the strongest Captain of the Holy Light Knights. This buff-type Magic could significantly increase all of the recipient’s Attributes.
The only one present who could possibly break out was this Holy Knight.
Bodoff raised his Magic Staff and cast a flash spell, blinding the demons charging at him. Then he swung the Longsword in his hand, and four or five heads hit the ground.
Only then did he have a moment to speak, panting, "I haven’t learned any buff-type Magic, so I can’t help."
"My apologies, Her Highness Saintess." The Holy Knight Captain looked at the endless Demon Army and shook his head. "In this situation, I’m afraid no one could break through relying on their martial prowess alone."
The number of demons before them had reached a terrifying level. He considered himself quite strong, and with a Magic buff, he might even be considered top-tier. Even so, facing this situation, he felt a sense of powerlessness.
Anyone else would be equally helpless.
Anyone would just be a stubborn rock trying to stop an avalanche, only to be buried in the end.
"No, Levi could definitely do it," Fatir said with a calm expression, as if stating a simple fact. "It’s just a shame he isn’t here."
"Your Highness, you think too highly of him," the Holy Knight Captain couldn’t help but say. "In this day and age, no matter how great his talent for cultivating the ’Holy Word Treasure Manual’ is, without Holy Medicine, he’d be about the same as us at best."
He had heard of the Lord of High Cliff Castle’s deeds. At first, he had a favorable impression of him, since he was also a Holy Knight.
But after the Saintess aided him in her personal capacity, and then spent every day by his side teaching him Divine Magic, his favorable impression vanished completely. He had classified the Lord of High Cliff Castle as a smooth-talking philanderer.
’Otherwise, there was no other way to explain why the Saintess, who had never been so close to anyone, would proactively do so much for him. The Saintess, whose heart is as pure as white snow, must have been tricked by him!’
Unfortunately, before the two could debate the matter, an incredulous cry escaped the Holy Knight Captain’s throat. "By the Holy Light Goddess! What is that?!"
He saw a three-headed monster, about ten blades tall, galloping over from the distance. Its huge form was revealed on the plain, and with every leap, it covered a distance of nearly a hundred paces.
It crashed into the demon ranks. The other demons were no bigger than its paws, like a swarm of ants.
It killed countless demons just by landing on them, and with every swipe of its claws, innumerable demons died screaming.
This sudden turn of events stunned not only them, but the demons as well.
A Magical Beast had appeared out of nowhere and gone berserk for some reason. Faced with this situation, the demons had no choice but to divert some of their forces to deal with it, which greatly reduced the pressure on Fatir and her group.
"It’s Biefeng!" Only Fatir recognized the Magical Beast. She never would have thought that this Three-headed Dog, which always followed Levi around with its tongue hanging out like some country mutt, could actually become so enormous.
"It’s coming up!" Not long after, the Holy Knight Captain cried out in alarm again.
The Magical Beast seemed to glance in their direction, and after confirming something, it charged toward them.
It leaped up the towering mountain peak, its sharp claws digging into the rock. Stone fragments and debris flew everywhere as its body scrambled upward.
To humans, it was an extremely high mountain, but to this Giant Beast, it was merely a large hill. It reached its destination with just a few climbs.
The visual impact was unimaginable, leaving everyone in a state of profound shock.
"Fatir, your Lord is here to save you!"
Before they could put up their guard, a loud shout echoed. A figure passed smoothly through the opened Barrier and entered the peak where they were, accompanied by the Magical Beast, which had shrunk back down in size.
