Chapter 1032: Chapter 149: Water Curtain Showdown

Baron Grant’s face was as pale as paper, and the desperate roar of Kingdom Knight Edgar hammered at his heart. He looked around, and the line that had barely held before had completely collapsed at this moment. Soldiers fled like wild beasts, crying and rushing towards the tightly shut castle gates, trampling each other, shattering the last remnants of order. Below the high ground, the heavy infantry phalanx of the Hesse Territory advanced steadily, like a moving steel wall, crushing the corpses of the broken soldiers; the knights’ iron hooves had already reached the edge of the high ground, cold gleaming spear tips mercilessly piercing those unfortunate slow runners; the "Iron Thorns" of the Half-Elves emitted a piercing roar, spinning scythes shredding flesh, closing in on his command core!

In the sky, the terrifying Green Dragon was circling, its cold vertical pupils seemingly locked onto him, while the damnable figure on the dragon’s back - Su Li, coldly overlooked this hell he had created!

Is it over... is it really over?

No! Never!

A wave of violent fury, mixed with ultimate despair, insane obsession, and unwillingness to perish, instantly overwhelmed Baron Grant’s last shred of reason. His blood-red eyes fixated on the Bronze Oath Lance piece, which he had clutched tightly in his hand, with a giant blue gemstone and a shape both ancient and strange—the most important Holy Artifact of Blue Mirror Castle, a relic of the pact with the ancient Heroic Spirits at the lake’s bottom, and his last, only gamble!

"Cost... then let the cost be paid!" Baron Grant let out a low growl like a beast, his voice hoarse yet carrying a resolute determination. He suddenly lifted the lance high, its tip pointing straight at the sky!

"With my blood! In the name of the Blue Mirror Castle Lord Grant Bonhard Scott!" he roared at the top of his lungs, his voice penetrating the battlefield’s chaos, akin to a mournful war cry across ancient lands, "Fulfill the ancient oath! Spirits of the lake! Awaken! Fight to protect your resting place!"

Before his words had even finished, under everyone’s horrified gazes, Baron Grant executed an extreme act of madness—seizing the Oath Lance with both hands, he used all his strength to thrust its tip into his own chest!

"Pffft!"

The sharp lance tip instantly pierced through his ornate breastplate, burying deep into his chest! The scorching blood spurted like a fountain from the wound and lance shaft, dyeing the ancient bronze lance body red!

"Ugh—ah!" Baron Grant let out a wail so pitiful it barely seemed human, his body convulsing violently. Yet his hands gripped the lance as if they were iron clamps, maintaining the lifted posture, his face twisted with extreme pain and a near-deranged fervor!

Buzz—!

The immense blue gemstone inlaid on the Oath Lance suddenly erupted with a dazzling deep blue glow! This light was not divine, but carried a coldness, silence, as if from an endless Abyss! Centered on the lance tip, circles of deep blue energy ripples rapidly expanded, sweeping across the entire Blue Mirror Lake!

"Lord!" Knight Edgar’s eyes widened, wanting to rush forward, but was violently pushed back by the rampant energy ripples.

The entire Blue Mirror Lake, in the moment the Oath Lance was soaked in blood, sacrificed by life, boiled over completely! The entire surface churned and swelled as if brought to a boil! The viscous dark green lake water spun violently, forming a massive whirlpool that covered the entire lake surface!

At the center of the whirlpool, the lake water changed colors rapidly, from dark green to a cold, silent iron gray, sedimented over countless ages! A breath more powerful tenfold, a hundredfold, suffused with death and desolation, like glaciers awakening after millennia of slumber, spread thunderously across the heavens and earth! The air seemed to freeze, even the Hesse Legion’s war cries seemed frozen by the invisible pressure!

Heroic Spirits! Manifest!

"Splash—splash—splash—!!!"

Amidst the deafening sound of water breaking, numerous figures slowly emerged from the iron-gray whirlpool at the lake’s center!

They were clad in bronze full body armor adorned with a patina, etched with ancient inscriptions, their helmets completely covering their faces except for dark, profound eye sockets, from which two ghostly blue soul fires burned! Their forms seemed no longer illusory, but condensed with cold lake water and sedimented Wind of Magic, appearing exceptionally heavy and solid. Silt flowed continuously from the armor’s crevices, as if they had just broken free from coffins buried for a thousand years at the lake’s bottom!

Their weapons were equally ancient and heavy: enormous bronze two-handed swords, long-handled war axes, flails covered in spikes... each radiated a chilling aura of slaughter despite being rusted. Underneath them were gigantic skeleton warhorses in bronze heavy armor, with sockets ablaze with ghostly blue soul fire!

One, ten, a hundred... thousands!

Dense, endless ranks of ancient bronze knights, like an undead legion crawling from the Hell Abyss, rose silently from the iron-gray lake water. They didn’t shout, didn’t roar, only a deathly silence that was more suffocating than any war cry! What emanated from them was an icy killing intent across the vast river of time, a perpetual obsession accumulated over countless battlefields!

Under their feet, the lake water solidified and rose, forming a broad "path" of deathly waters leading to the lake shore. They formed into an impeccably orderly, like a steel forest, ancient battle array, with its cold ghostly blue soul fire simultaneously turning to the shore—towards the attacking Hesse Legion, and the conspicuous green dragon in the sky!
